((lol, that's right people ANOTHER one by me. I know, I should finish one story before I start another, but I've been keeping up with the other ones too! I just keep getting ideas and I want to post them!))

This is set right after "Hidden."

Clark: Chloe, I think I've made a terrible mistake.

Chloe: Clark, what are you talking about?

Clark: After I died, Jor-el took be back to the Fortress of Solitude.

Chloe: Hold on, back up a step. The what?

Clark: The Ice Cave that you were freezing to death in.

Chloe: Oh...what happened?

Clark: *eyes tearing up.* Some one is going to have to die for my mistake Chloe. I did this.

Chloe: What mistake?

Clark: Jor-el told me that I was supposed to return to the Fortress of Solitude before sundown. I didn't listen to him.

Chloe: That's why your powers were gone...

Clark: And now because I didn't listen to him, someone else is going to have to die.

Chloe: Why?

Clark: Because Chloe. I wasn't supposed to come back. When he brought me back it cost some one else their life.

Chloe: Who?

Clark: I don't know, he only said someone that I love, someone that I'm close to.

Chloe: *touching Clark's shoulder.* Clark, I'm so sorry.

Clark: No. I'M the one that should be sorry. Someone is going to die and it's all my fault.

Chloe: What are you going to do?

Clark: First, I have to end my relationship with Lana, before she gets hurt.

The next morning, Clark walked into the Talon. He saw Lois behind the counter.

Clark: What are you doing here?

Lois: Nice to see you to Clark, geez.

Clark: *shaking his head* No, I meant, I thought the general had you on a Lucy hunt?

Lois: He did, we found her, now she's safely under daddy dearest thumb.

Clark: At least she won't get into anymore trouble.

Lois: You obviously don't know my sister very well.

Clark only nodded.

Lois: You here to see Lana?

Clark: Yeah, is she here?

Lois: Yep, she's up in the apartment.

Clark: Thanks. *he heads up the stairs and knocks on the door. Lana opens it and smiles at him.*

Lana: Hi Clark. *she leans up and they kiss.*

Clark: Hey. *he walked inside.*

Lana: *seeing the sadness on his face.* What's wrong?

Clark: We need to talk.

Lana: *sighing and shaking her head.* I knew it.

Clark: *looking confused* What?

Lana: As soon as someone gets close to you, you pull away.

Clark: I don't have a choice.

He always does that. Lets just hope she doesnt let him pull away again

Lana: Clark, you ALWAYS have a choice.

Clark: I really don't.

Lana: Why won't you let me in?

Clark: Because Lana, it will put you in danger.

Lana: Don't you think that this is my choice too?

Clark: *shaking his head* I can't take that risk.

Lana looked at him a minute then knelt in front of him and took his hands.

Lana: Clark, I don't care if you have secrets, I'm not letting you do this to me again.

Clark: You have to realize that their are some things about me that I can't explain.

Lana: Clark, I think I figured that out when you came back from the DEAD!

Clark: So, you can handle me having secrets? Secrets that I can never tell you?

Lana: As much as I would like to be let in on your secrets, as long as I can be close to you, I don't care.

Clark: *smiling at her.* Thanks. *he began to blush.*

Lana: *beginning to smile* What?

Clark: I just remember the last time we were in here. *Lana and Clark smile at each other and start to lean in. There is a knock on the door at it startles them both. Lana gets off her knees and walks to the door, opens it. It's Lois.*

Lana: Hey Lois. What's up?

Lois: Chloe and I are going to Crater lake. Their holding a end of summer party, are you and Smallville coming?

Lana: *looking back at Clark, who shrugs his shoulders.* Sure, we'll go.

Crater lake. Lois, Chloe, Clark, and Lana are walking down the path towards the lake. They get to it and set down their stuff.

Clark: Where is everyone?

Lois: I guess we're early. *takes off her shirt so she is in nothing but a bikini.

Lana and Chloe take off thier shirts too. Clark looks over at Lana and smiles. She laughs and hit him in the stomach.

Lana: *eyes filled with concern* Oh my god Clark, I didn't just hit you where you were shot did I?

Clark: *smile fading.* No. No, you didn't.

Lana: *smiling at him and tugging at his shirt.* C'mon Kent, you have to lose it like the rest of us.

Clark smiled at her and took off his shirt, so he just stood in his swimming trunks and sandles. Chloe saw that he had a band-aid over his supposed "wound", and chuckled. Clark glared at her, she covered her mouth with her hand.

Lana: *picking up a bottle of sun-tan lotion.* Clark? *gesturing to the bottle*

Clark: *smile returning to his face* Gladly. *he took the bottle.*

Lois: Well, while you two are enjoying each other, I'm going for a swim. Chloe want to go with me?

Chloe: No, I just ate, I'll be there in a few. *Lois shrugs and walks down the dock.* I swear, she's been alot more cheerful since they found Lucy. *Listening, Lana put her hands on her hips and Clark was just holding the bottle.* Oh well, it's alot better than having to listen to the crabby Lois!

Clark and Lana smiled, and looked over to the dock when they heard a splash.

Lois had just dove into the water. When she didn't come up, Chloe started to get worried.

Chloe: Clark, she hasn't come up yet!

Clark looked over again towards the lake and darted down the dock. He didn't use his super-speed like he wanted to because he knew Lana was still watching. He dove and saw the unconscious Lois drifting towards the bottom of the lake. He super-swam towards her when all of a sudden there was another man by Lois. Clark watched in curiousity as the other man looked at Clark a moment, and took Lois in his arms. Clark widened his eyes when the mystery man took off swimming faster than anything Clark had ever seen. Including himself.

When Clark climbed back onto the dock, and looked towards the bank, the mysteryman was already walking towards Lana and Chloe. He put her down and made sure she was breathing. Clark walked back towards the dock. Lois sat up and coughed, she looked up at her rescuer.

Lois: What happened?

Mystery Man: It looked like you hit your head when you dived in.

Chloe: Thank you so much for saving her. *she looked over at Clark with confusion.*

Clark: *coming to stand beside Lana* He just moved faster than I can. *Chloes eyes widened.*

Lois: *standing up* Thank you. *she held out her hand* I'm Lois.

Mysterie Man: *taking her hand and shaking it.* I'm Arthur.

Chloe and Clark exchanged looks.

Central Kansas, Clark pulls up in his truck and gets out, starts walking up the steps of his college. A man steps in front of him and stops him.

Man: Clark Kent?

Clark: Yeah?

Man: I'm sorry to bother you, but, I've been reading some articles about a town called 'Smallville' and i've noticed your name comes up an awful lot.

Clark: So?

Man: Well, I've given this some deep thought, and I wanted to recruit you to be my research partner.

Clark: I'm really not interested in a job. *Clark begins to walk past him when the man stops him again.*

Man: I think you'll be very interested when you hear the information I have about your friend, Lex Luthor.

Clark: I don't think I need any information on Lex.

Man: The only thing worse than the fear of speaking the truth, is the fear of uncovering it. If you truly know Lex Luthor, ask him yourself.

Clark: *looking at the man with confusion* Who are you?

Man: *holding out his hand* I'm Professor Milton Fine. I'll be one of your teachers.

Luthor mansion, Clark bursts into Lex's office, to find Lex and the mystery man Arthur talking.

Lex: *looking up at Clark.* Let me guess, I've done something else wrong?

Clark: *ignoring Lex and looking at Arthur.* I saw you in the lake. You moved like a torpedo out there!

Lex: I've hired him as my swimming coach.

Arthur: I'm going to show our boy Lex everything I know.

Clark: *looking at Lex.* Why do you need a swim coach?

Lex: It's something I need to do.

Clark: Like building weapons?

Lex: *looking at him in shock.* What?

Clark: I talked to a friend of yours today. A Professor Fine? He told all about the weapons you've been having built.

Lex: I don't know what kind of story he fed you Clark, -

Clark: Save it Lex! I'm through listening to your lies. *storms out of the mansion.*

The Talon, Lana and Lois are sitting at the counter.

Lana: Let me get this straight, He goes to Stanford, he's the star of the swim team, and he's passionately interested in something meaningful. Wow, I'm impressed.

Lois: I kind of wish I had never met him. Because now my head is in a constant fog.

Lana: Looks like the fog is about to lift. *she points at the Talon doors. Arthur had just walked in.*

Lois: *standing up and walking over to him.* Hi.

Arthur: Do you look beautiful or what? Even with that seaweed in your hair, and that sand all over your face, you looked beautiful. *Lois is speechless for a minute, and Arthur looks at the floor, bends down and picks up something from the floor.* Is this yours? *he handed it out to her.*

Lois: *taking it* yeah, my father would have lined me up in front of a firing squad if I lost that! You've saved my life twice now. You deserve a reward. *she walks behind the counter and makes him a drink, she walks back to him and hands it to him.* On the house.

Arthur: *taking the drink* You're not like most chicks are you?

Lois: *sighing* Life would be a whole lot more simpler if I was.

Arthur: No. On the outside you have a bad-ass attitude. But on the inside there's only tenderness. *leans in and kisses Lois.*

Clark walks in at that exact moment.

Clark rolled his eyes and walked over to Lana. He kissed her and sat down beside her. Lois and Arthur walk up to them and sit down beside them.

Lois: It must have been hard getting into Stanford.

Clark: It doesn't hurt when you're a star swimmer. *Lana looks at him in shock.*

Arthur: I didn't start swimming until my freshmen year. I started when my coach saw me swimming laps. He sort of reeled me in.

Clark: How did you learn to swim so fast?

Arthur: I guess it's in my gene's y'know?

Clark: You're parents are fast swimmers?

Lana: Clark, this isn't a Barbara Walter's special.

Arthur: I'm not real sure. My dad operates a light house in Northern California, my mom died when I was still little. So I guess she was the one with all the skills. I knew I could swim fast, I noticed it when me and my dad when diving one year.

Lana: I would love to go diving. It's about as close to another planet that I'm gonna get. *Clark looks down and then over at Arthur.*

Clark: You act like you know alot about the ocean.

Arthur: I'm majoring in Marine Biology. I've noticed alot of things polluting the ocean, so I've dedicated my life to protecting the sea.

Clark: *nodding* Well, why are you in Smallville? It's a long way from Stanford.

Arthur: I actually would like to talk to Lex Luthor about his veiws on the environment.

Clark: Well wha-

Lois: Clark, can I talk to you a minute? *Clark nods and stands up, Lois leads them away from the other two.* I already have an overprotective father.

Clark: I'm not trying to be over protective-

Lois: Oh, so are you jealous that Arthur is smart, passionate and looks like Adonis?

Clark: No Lois, it's just their is something fishy about him. I think he was affected by the meteor rocks.

*Lois' cell phone rings, she pulls it out and answers it.*

Lois: Hello? Oh hi Daddy. What? It wasn't me...I swear. *Lois hangs up.*

Clark: What was that about?

Lois: Lucy has dissappeared again. The General thinks that I may have felt sorry for her and helped her escape.

Clark: *smiling* So, does that mean you'll be leaving again?

Lois: *rolling her eyes* Don't get your hopes up Smallville. *walks back to the counter. Clark follow's her* I have to go. Family crisis.

Arthur: That's too bad. I had a great time saving your life today. *Stands up and kisses Lois*

Clark: *rolling his eyes again and looking at Lana* Their trying to make me sick. *Lana laughed.*

Lois: *sarcastically* Ha ha Smallville. Very funny.

Arthur: I also have to go, Today is Lex's first swim practice. *looking at Lois* Let me walk you out? *Lois smiles, bites her lip, and nods. They walk out together.*

Lana: He's Lex's swim coach?

Clark: Something tell's me there's more than that going on though.

For the second time that day, Clark walked into Lex's mansion. Lex looked up at him from his desk.

"Y'know Clark, if you keep showing up like this, i'll start to think that we're friends." said Lex.

"That's not why I'm here." said Clark.

"I figured as much." said Lex. "So why ARE you here?"

"I'm looking for Arthur. Your new swim coach." said Clark.

"He isn't here. In fact he's not scheduled to be here until tommorow afternoon." said Lex.

Clark looked at him with confusion. "He told us at the Talon that he was heading over here for your first lesson."

"You must have heard him wrong. I haven't seen him since he left earlier." said Lex.

Clark looked around the room one last time, almost as if expecting to see Arthur there, and walked out.

Lex made sure Clark was out of ear shot before picking up his cell phone and dialing a number. "Get your men down to the mansion's sewer, I think we may have a guest coming."

Mansion's sewer. Arthur is opening up a drain. He pokes his head up from the open drain and crawls up. He looks around the room he is in, and notices a table. He walks over to it and picks up some paper's that are laying on it.

Lex: *walking into the room* Find something interesting?

Arthur: Only some plans to do experiments on marine life with meteor rocks.

Lex: *tsking* It's too bad you had to see that. * 3 men walked into the room and grabbed Arthur. Arthur tried to fight them but failed. He was strapped down on the table. Lex walked over to him and leaned over him.* You maybe a big fish underwater, but up here I'M the shark.

The Talon. Clark is sitting at the counter with Lana when Lois rushes in.

Lois: CLARK! Thank god. You're pretty good with finding people right?

Clark: *looking confused.* Yeah, I guess.

Lois: Good, I need you to find Arthur.

Clark: What?

Lois: We had date tonight, and he didn't show up, something must have happened.

Lana: As sorry as I am to say this Lois, do you think he could have stood you up?

Clark: No, she's right Lana. Something is going on. I went to Lex's today, because I wanted to talk to Arthur. Remember when he said he had swim practice with Lex today? *Lana nodded.* I asked Lex if he had seen him and Lex said no, that he wasn't scheduled to be there until tommorow afternoon.

Lois: See? I KNEW something was up!

Clark: But if I hadn't have been at Lex's earlier, there could have been a chance that he had stood you up.

Lois: No there couldn't of.

Clark: *looking over at Lana and rolling his eyes. She laughs.* Okay. I'll go see if I can find him. *standing up.*

Lois: Thanks Clark. *Clark nods to her and walks out.*

Clark walks into the mansion. Instead of going to Lex's office like normally does, he looks around suspiciously. He uses he x-ray vision to scan the mansion. Nothing. He looks down and sees a body that must be Lex's because he has 3 men walking behind him. And then he see's another skeleton, that looks to be strapped down. "What the-?" said Clark and super-sped towards the room. He walked in and Arthur was strapped down, using all of his strength to try and break free. Arthur looked up and saw him.

Arthur: Clark! How did you get down here?

Clark: Don't worry about that. What have he been doing to you?

Arthur: It's not important. Clark, I need water BAD.

Clark looked round the room. He noticed a valve that was attached the some sprayer heads just above the table that Arthur was attached to. He ran over to them and turned them. He watched Arthur. When the water hit Arthur, it looked as if he had refound strength. He again tried to get out of his strappings.

Clark: *walking over to Arthur.* Let me get those. *undoes the strap with a single pull.*

Arthur: *looking impressed* Damn Clark.

Clark: *smiling.* You have underwater speed, I have strength.

Lex's mansion, Lex is at his computer.

Lex: Amazing. *he was watching Clark free Arthur.*

Talon, Lana and Lois are sitting at the counter.

Lois: I may not like him too much, but you got yourself a good catch Lana.

Lana: *smiling* You haven't done too bad yourself.

Lois: *fake swoons.* We're blessed.

Lana: You don't seem to worried about him anymore.

Lois: *cocking head* Because I know that Clark will find him.

Lana: How can you be sure of that?

Lois: Because I knew he was a hero from the moment I found him lying naked in that corn feild.

Lana: *eyes widened* What?

Lois: Didn't he tell you? *shrugs* He must have been to embarrased. *laughs* It was before we found out that Chloe wasn't in here grave. Chloe had left a message for Clark on her computer, saying that if he was watching it, she was probably dead. She wanted him to find out what had happened to her because "He was the only one that can."

Lana: *listening with interest* I didn't hear about that.

Lois: Well, i'm looking for the Kent place when a bolt of lightening hits directly in front of my car. I crash my car into the corn feild. Next thing I know, there is another lightening strike and I see Clark, laying on the ground stark naked.

Lana: He was hit by lightning?

Lois: I guess, because I asked him if he was okay and he had no memory's of who or where he was. He said he was looking for the sign. Whatever that means.

Lana: I wonder what he meant.

Lois: I have no clue.

Arthur: What are we talking about?

Lois turns around in her seat and smiles. Clark walks up behind him.

Lois: You're okay!

Lana: *walking over to Clark.* What happened?

Clark: Lex had him tied down in the mansion's sewers.

Lois: He had you tied down?

Arthur: Yeah. *sighs and looks to his shoes* Lois, I have a confession to make.

Lois: What is it?

Arthur: Lex didn't want me as a swim coach. You see, I can move faster than an normal person can underwater. I came here to see if I could find paper's on the experiments Lex has been doing on marine life.

Lois: Wait, back up. You can move faster than a "normal" person?

Arthur: Uh...yeah...back home I was known as "Aquaman."

Lois: Whoa....*shaking her head in disbelief* So...how did you get out of there?

Arthur: I owe that to Mr. Kent here. *patted Clark on the shoulder.* I've never seen anybody that strong! *Lana looks at him with confusion.*

Lois: *rolling her eyes.* Clark, strong? Please.

Lex's mansion. Lana storms in.

Lex: Lana.

Lana: You held Arthur captive?

Lex: I was going to let him go.

Lana: No you weren't, Clark had to come and save him from you!

Lex: And what an extraordinary job he did too. It was....incredible.

Lana: What are you talking about?

Lex: I saw Clark, Lana! The bindings on Arthur were steel. Clark popped them off with a flick of his wrist!

Talon, Arthur and Clark are at the counter talking.

Arthur: I'm glad I'm not the only one here that's.....different.

Clark: *whispering* Unlike you, I can't just go around showing off to people. I only told you because I couldn't explain my strength.

Arthur: *looking around and whispering back to Clark.* Not even Lana knows?

Clark: *frowning and looking down at the counter.* No.

Arthur: *shaking his head.* I can't believe that you willingly live like that.

Clark: I don't have a choice.

Arthur: You DO have a choice Clark. I told Lois and she didn't freak.

Clark: You're different than me. And so is Lois. Lois is odd.

Arthur: Clark, we're not THAT different.

Clark: You have no idea.

Lana walks in, and sees Clark at the counter. She walks over to him, and crosses her arms over her chest.

Lana: Clark, can I talk to you a minute?

Clark: *standing up* Yeah. *They walk to a dark corner of the Talon.* Lana, what's up?

Lana: I was just over at Lex's.

Clark: LEX'S?!? Lana, I asked you not to go the-"

Lana: *interupting Clark.* He showed me a video of you freeing Arthur.

Clark: And?

Lana: Clark, he's bonding's were STEEL. How did you get them off of him so quick?

Clark: *searching for an answer.* Arthur's struggles must have loosened it's grip.

Lana: Clark, you know you can tell me ANYTHING right?

Clark: *looking at his shoes.* I know what you're thinking Lana. *Lana looks at him in confusion.* I wasn't infected by the meteor rocks.

Arthur was saying his goodbyes to everyone in the Talon. He got to Lois and they exchanged looks.

Lois: Are you sure you have to go?

Arthur: Yes. Luthor swiped the plans I took from him, so I have to find a different way to bring him down.

Lois: And that can't be here?

Arthur: *smiling.* I'm sorry to say, that hicksville just isn't the place for me.

Lois: *nodding.* I know the feeling.

Arthur: *leans in and kisses her.* If i'm ever back in Smallville, you'll be the first person I look for.

Lois: *smiling* I'll be looking forward to it.

Arthur turns to Lana.

Arthur: It was nice to meet you Lana.

Lana: It was nice to meet you too Arthur. *they hug.*

Arthur: *pointing to Clark, who was standing right beside Lana.* Keep a hold on that one, he'll keep you safe. *Lana laughs and Arthur turns to Clark.* Thanks again for saving my life.

Clark: It was no problem. *they shake hands*

Arthur: Just remember farmboy, you and I, are not that different.

Clark: I wish I could believe that.

Arthur: Then believe it, it's not that complicated. *pats Clark on the shoulder and looks at Lois. He winks at her, and walks out the Talon doors.*

Lana: What was that about?

Clark: Just guy stuff. *Clark looks over at Lois and notices that she is staring wistfully at the doors.* The fog back?

Lois: Nope, it's all cleared up now. *smiles at him and walks away.*

Lana: *taking Clark's hand.* Actually Clark, there's something I've been meaning to talk to you about something.

Clark: What?

Lana: Well...everyone is leaving for college tommorow, and I don't think I could just sit here and wait for everyone to come home. So....I applied at Met U.

Clark: At Met U?!?

Lana: It's always been my dream to go there.

Clark: But Lana, what if our relationship can't make it over long distance?

Lana: I think that our relationship is stronger than that Clark.

Clark: Isn't too late to get a dorm?

Lana: Yeah...I uh...I have to pledge to a sorority.
