Hey everyone. Has anyone notice that there was actual footage of the Crystal fortress that came from Superman The Movie?

That was cool. ^__^

If you mean the Fortress forming, no that was done by the FX team for Smallville. The fortress forming at the beggining was a brand new sequence cause this fortress looked much bigger than the one in the film. However their was footage from the movie taken. if you watch when Clark's being downloaded with all his new studies, you get to see the destruction of Krypton, again. That footage was taken form the film, or at least it looks like it was.

I may be wrong, but after the FoS was formed and Clark was approaching, it *did* look a lot like the FoS from the movie. The whole shot looked the same to me, just brighter (in the movie it was darker, like dusk, outside).

i think it was intended to look very similar. the beauty of modern technology is that the camera can now take us places that it's never been before, such as the overhead shot of clark walking into the fortress. very cool (and this coming from the "i hate gratuitous CG" queen. LOL)

I noticed the movie footage as well, when he was being downloaded, there was footage of the big white dome, of people falling, the red sun, and at the end when he's coming back to reality after hearing Chloe, I could have sworn I saw the ship taking off...

Ripping off that lame movie was weak, cheap and lazy.

Superman: The Movie is lame?????

I think that it shows respect for what was accomplished before them...and they did it in a subtle way, you have to be paying attention to notice all of it..

Blatantly copying the look, and using the footage from the movie, isn't a SUBTLE way. That's just plain obvious. The only respect, smallville seems to have is for superman the movie. Everything else, they just take a name, and then write their own character or idea about it, completely forgetting and ignoring what has come before.

Yeah, because, I hate to tell you, every single other idea has been used before in some way or form. Arrival was a good homage to the movie.
