This story starts out at the beginning of season four, except some things are different. Although the entire thing with Lionel did happen, there was no possible death for Chloe, therefore there’s no Lois (at least not in Smallville). Also, Clark never went with Kara. The only thing that’s the same is that Lana went to Paris(minus Jason). Sorry for all the changes, but it’s the only way my story would work. Hope you enjoy it!
Chapter One:
Lana had left Smallville three months ago. Although at the time, when she left, she would’ve argued that she would never want to leave Paris, she found herself excited to come home. She missed her friends, her family, and the life she left behind. But the thing she missed the most was, surprisingly, Clark. It had been a year since he broke up with her, but three since she started loving him. On the plane ride home, Lana reminisced about their past; they had so many good times together. For a while, Lana tried to forget about Clark and all of the things he’d done to her; all of the secrets, him breaking up with her suddenly; Lana tried to put the past behind her and move on. That was one of the main reasons for leaving Smallville. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t forget about Clark and how much she loved him. Still thinking about him, she got off the plane and went out to find Chloe, who was picking her up. When she spotted her, and huge smiled formed.
“Chloe!”
“Hey! It’s so good to see you!” They hugged.
“It’s good to see you too!”
“So, how was it?!”
“Honestly? It was incredible.”
“I’m glad to hear it. C’mon, I bet you wanna get home.”
Both girls got into Chloe’s red bug and headed home. On the way, Lana answered all of the questions Chloe had asked. Finally, she had a question of her own. “So, uh...how’s Clark?”
“Clark is...well, Clark. He’s doing alright.”
“Oh.”
Chloe got serious. “He missed you, Lana. A lot.”
“He did?”
“Yeah. I don’t know if I should be telling you this or not, but I will anyway. Apparently, he went to the airport to stop you from leaving, but when he saw you with Lex, he left.”
Lana remembered that happening, but was confused. “Why would he leave because of Lex?”
“See, at the time, there were fighting and Clark didn’t really trust Lex, so when he saw you with him I guess that made him upset. I really don’t know. But the point is, he didn’t want you to leave.” They pulled up to the Talon; Lana made arrangements with Lex to leave up in it’s apartment.
Lana got out of the car. “Maybe I should go talk to him...”
“I think that’s a good idea. Look, I gotta go, but we’ll talk, ok? And good luck with Clark.”
“Thanks. See ya.”
Lana opened the apartment to find boxes and boxes of her belongings; they had already arrived and were sent there. She sat on the ground, and started thinking about Clark. “Was he really going to stop me from leaving? Why would he do that? Does he still love me? Do I still love him?” After that last thought, Lana realized that she did love him after all of that time. But it was probably too late. She closed her eyes for a moment, and sat quietly. Once again, she found herself thinking about Clark; her mind always seemed to wander to that topic of discussion. “Ah, Lana...stop thinking about him!” She searched around for something to distract her and found a box next to her labeled “journals”.
“Hmm...”

oh wait I saw the bootleg of that movie my friend picked it up in Chinatown... journals is that kind of stuff going to happen? THis could get wierd..oh well the start sounded interesting either way...PPMS!!

Chapter Two:
Lana pulled a journal out and started to read it’s contents. There were so many stories; so many memories written in that journal. Lana smiled and laughed harder and harder as she continued to read. She had practically forgotten about them, but as she read, she remembered how much she loved to write in them.
As it got dark, it became harder and harder to read, so Lana pulled out a lamp, and went to go plug it in. As she went to push the plug into the outlet, she suddenly felt a wave of energy flow through her body. The lights started to flash, and there was a huge spark. When the lights stopped blinking, Lana opened her eyes slowly. She had been electrocuted, but she wasn’t hurt. “Woah. That was strange...” Re-collecting herself, she turned the lamp on and picked up the journal she had been reading before the ordeal. She repositioned herself into a comfortable position, and opened the journal to begin her reading again. She turned the page to find an entry about the day she was leaving for Paris, when she saw Clark at the airport. “Of course...” Curious to see what she wrote, Lana continued.

Dear Diary,
Today I left for Paris. I have to admit, it was a little scary. I’ve thrown myself in a completely new, unfamiliar world, and it scares me. But I can get through this. Everything that’s new is scary at first, but then, once it stops being new, it gets better. Even enjoyable. Besides, I already made my decision, and there’s no turning back now. But I’m happy with that decision...I mean, I’M IN PARIS!
I really wish I would’ve talked to Clark before I left. I felt as if he needed to tell me something, but he never got the chance to, and now I’ll never get the chance to hear what it was. What made it even worse was the fact that I saw him at the airport, but when I ran to him, he was already gone. I really wish I knew what he was going to say...and why he left before saying it...he can be so mysterious sometimes. But I’ll miss him anyway. I hope he knows that.

The entire room was silent and still. Lana sat motionless; the only thing that moved was the tear that ran down her cheek. She remembered that moment, and all of those feelings instantly came back. All of that pain came back. “I wish I could go back into that moment. I would give anything to get to him before he left, so that I’d have a chance to change what happened. But I’ll never get that chance.”
All of a sudden, Lana got a sharp pain in her forehead. Her eyes bunched up, and she moaned and cried as everything became blurry. Everything in the room started to circle around her. When she opened her eyes, she was no longer in her apartment, reading her journals. She was back in time.
Looking up, Lana saw a sign that read “Metropolis Airport”, and realized where she was. She was back in the moment she was just reading about. Someway, somehow, she was sent back into the very same moment. She had no idea how it happened, but she decided she wasn’t going to let this moment slip away; she wasn’t going to make the same mistake twice. It was too much of a miracle to happen twice, and she wasn’t going to let the moment pass.
She looked across the street and saw him. “Clark!” Lana dropped the luggage she had in her arms and ran towards Clark as fast as she could. “Clark, wait! Don’t leave!” She made it to him in time and grabbed his arms. Out of breath, she tried to get her words out. “Clark...don’t leave yet.”
“Lana...”
“No, let me talk.” Her breaths were heavy. “I know you want to tell me something, so say it Clark. Just say it...”
“I can’t. You have to get on your plane.”
“I don’t care about my plane.” She paused for a moment, and put her hand on his cheek. “I care about you.”
“I care about you too...”
“Then say how you feel.”
“The truth is...I don’t want you to go. I love you Lana, and I want to be with you. And I came here to tell you that, and to try and get you to come home with me. I made the mistake of letting you go once, and I didn’t want to do that again, but if you really want to go to Paris I understand. I know you have to do what’s right for you, but...”
Clark was interrupted, by Lana’s lips. She pulled him in close and kissed him passionately. Their lips parted, but they stayed close, while opening their eyes slowly. “I love you too, Clark.”
“So does that mean you’re staying?”
“I’m not going anywhere...” Lana pulled him in again, and they kissed heatedly.

Chapter Three:
~One Year Later~
Lana opened her eyes dazedly and yawned. She scooted herself up to find that she was laying in a bed in a small, modern looking dorm room. “It worked...” She continued to look around, happily, realizing that she got her second chance. The lock of the door started to turn, and she turned around. “Clark!”
“Hey sweetie.” Clark came over to Lana and kissed her gently on the forehead. “How are you this morning?”
Lana thought about her life and where she was. “I’m fantastic!”
“Good, I’m glad. I gotta get to class, but I wanted to bring you some breakfast before I left, so here.” Clark handed Lana a bag with a bagel inside. “Your coffee is sitting on the table.”
Lana turned her head towards the desk. “Thanks...you’re so sweet.”
“I do try.” Clark smiled. “I gotta go. Bye honey.” He gave her a small kiss on the lips.
That felt so good, Lana thought, as she watched him leave. “Hey Clark?”
“Yeah?”
“I want you to know that I’m glad you came to the airport that day. I wanted you to come, and the truth is, I wanted you to stop me too. And I’m glad that you did, because I didn’t have the courage to admit that at the time. I’m glad we got a second chance...because I love you so much.”
“I love you too, Lana. Is something bothering you?”
“No, no. I just wanted you to know. I can’t remember if I ever told you that or not.”
“Ok. I’ll see ya.”
“Bye.” Lana smiled as she watched Clark leave the dorm room. “I can’t believe it worked...this is so incredible. Unbelievable, but incredible. Things are going to be good from now on; they’re finally going to be they way I want them to be. Clark and I finally get to be together...happy.”
“Psst...Lana, is he gone?”
“What?”
A tall, blonde-haired man climbed out of the closet. “Is he gone?”
“Clark? Yes, he’s gone.”
“Oh good. We almost got caught this time.”
“Caught?”
“Yeah...caught.” The man went over to the door and locked it. “But now we can get back to business.” He came and sat down on the bed that Lana was laying in, and slowly kissed her.
“Hey! What are you doing!?”
“What do you mean? What’s wrong?”
“Who do you think you are kissing me? And really, who are you?”
“I’m your boyfriend, Todd.”
Lana eyes grew wide. “B-Boyfriend?”
“Yes. Boyfriend. We’ve been dating for almost two months.”
“But...but what about Clark?”
“What about Clark?”
“He’s my boyfriend, isn’t he?”
“Well, technically, yes. But you’ve been, well, cheating on him.”
“With you?”
“Yep.”
“How could I do such a thing? I’m such a terrible person!”
“No you’re not. Plenty of people do it. I know what will make you feel better...” Todd leaned in and gave her another passionate kiss.
Just then, Clark walked in. “Hey, I forgot my one--- how could you do this to me?”
“Clark! I can explain!”

If you have never seen the movie "The Butterfly Effect" it basically goes like this.
A guy realizes that by reading his journals he can relive his memories that are written there. By reliving his memories he can also CHANGE what happens. And if you change something that happend in the past, that will change everything that happens from that moment on.
So by Lana having gotten to Clark at the airport, it changed every event that happend after that. And if I am taking version correctly, Lana still has her original memories from before she changed the past. That is why she is so surprised by what happens.
Did I sum that up correctly Alm26? I hope I helped anybody who was confused.

that pretty much sounds right thanks for explaining!
i'm really sry some people are confused, but after the story gets a little further, you'll start to see some patterns and it'll become less confusing. basically, lana gets zapped by the electrical socket, so then, whenever she reads her journals, she gets sent back in time to the moment she was reading about. she decides to use this to her advantage, and starts to change things and make them happen the way she wants them to. then, after she changes the past, she gets sent back to the future, but the future ends up being different too.
does that help at all? : )

i'm glad you all like it so far...btw, i'm not done with the story yet, but i didn't really care for the movie's ending either, so it probably won't end like that! hope that makes you feel better!

the movie ends with the girl not even knowing who he is and they pass by eachother and you can tell he recognizes her but he decides not to go after her.....so not a real happy ending

Actually, in the directors cut, he kills himself. So, I think the alternate ending was better!
