Hey this is my first attempt at a story so I hope you like it.

~*"Clark! Help!" Chloe shouted, hanging from the edge of the windmill in Chandler's Field.
Clark:"Let go, I'll catch you."
Chloe "Are you sure?"
Clark:"Absolutely just let go!"
Chloe:"OK."
Chloe closed her eyes and let go of the edge. She felt like she was falling forever until she felt the firm but gentle presence of Clark's arms under her.
Clark slowly sat Chloe down with her eyes still closed. Once her feet touched the ground, she slowly opened her eyes and stared at Clark adoringly.
Chloe:"Well, well, well I have my own personal hero."
Smiling, she put her arms around Clark's neck, stood up on her toes, and gave him a deep meaningful kiss*~

"Aahhh!" Lana jerks up from her bed, screaming and sweating. "I have got to stop drinking Cappucinos before I go to sleep.
Lana gets up and walks toward the bathroom to take a shower.

Here's some more, I hope this clearsthings up a bit.

Martha: "Clark, breakfast is ready!"
"Ok, mom, be right there!" Clark threw the last bale of hay in the back of the truck, brushed his hands of and ran inside.

Clark: "Great breakfast, mom, thanks. Do you need anything from the store? I wasplanning on doing the rest of the errandsin town after I drop off the rest of the hay at the Robinsons."

Martha: "I need some more flour and sugar for some pies I am making for dessert tonight."

Clark: "Ok, I'll be back." He heads off to the truck and drives off towards the center of town.

Lana goes downstairs and starts to open the Talon. As she finishes turning on all the machines, she begins taking down the chairs. Seeing Clark walking outside on the sidewalk, Lana runs over to the door, unlocks it and opens it. "Hey, Clark."
"Hey, Lana, what are you doing up this early?" Clark turns to face Lana.

Lana:"Oh, I just had a bad dream and couldn't go back to sleep, so I thought I'd go ahead and open up the Talon. Then when I saw you walking I thought I'd say hello. Are you busy now?"

Clark: "I'm on my way to the store to buy some stuff for my mom, why?"

Lana: "I was just wondering, how about tonight?"

Clark: "Nothing that I know of, what are you thinking of?"
"You'll see...I'll call you later ok?" Lana leans into him to give him a kiss, lingering for a second before turning around and walking back into the Talon. Once inside she flips the CLOSED sign to OPEN, smiles at Clark and continues taking down the chairs.

sorry everybody I'm working hard on this next update. I'm trying to make it at least twice as long so you might understand it a little better, I'll get it in maybe tomorrow if not then it'll have to wait til next weekend cuz I have band camp from 9 to 9 all week, and I have to go to my first day of school thursday starting at 7, and probably too tired to write. we'll see.

"Here you go mom, I got the sugar andorganic flour that you like." Clark said walking in the door.

Martha: "Thank you, Clark. Would you like to help me with them?."

Clark: "No thanks, I gotta take a shower and get ready."

Martha: "For what?"

Clark: "Lana's going to call later and we're going to hangout."

Martha: "Where areyou going?"

"I don't know." Clark called as he ran upstairs.

Clark walked into his room, after his shower he felt refreshed and clean. 'I wonder what Lana was thinking about earlier.' He got dressed, then layed down on his bed and picked up the book on his side table, Catcher in the Rye, to continue reading where he left off last time.
An hour and a half later, the phone rang. "Hello?" Martha answered the phone downstairs.
"Hello Mrs. Kent, is Clark there?" Lana said on the other end.
"Yeah he's here, just a second Lana."
"ok, thanks."

"Clark, Lana's on the phone!"

"Ok, mom, I got it." Clark runs downstairs andtakes the phone from his mother. "Hey, Lana, what's up?"

Lana: "Oh nothing, I was just wondering if you were in the mood for a movie tonight?"

Clark: "I'd love to, what time?"

Lana: "Meet me at the Talon at 7:30, we'll eat there, then go in the back and watch a movie, sound good?"

Clark: "Sounds great, ok see you at 7:30 then."

Lana: "Ok, bye!"

Clark: "Bye."

Lana sat the phone on the receiver and looked at the clock, 6:47 is what it read. Walking into the bathroom, she looked over her outfit one more time. She waswearing a white tank-top with a denim jacketand a knee length floral skirt, with a pair of heels and earings to match. Her hair pinned with a clip, letting half of it run freely to her shoulders.
She had worn her hair like this to school one day, and Clark had commented how good it looked on her.
Lana went downstairs to fix some espressos for later,knowing it was both of their favorite drinks. When she got finished, she walked over to a table and sat them down.
Then, she walked to the back to choose a movie that they would like. By the time she came back to the front, she saw Clark outside coming out of his truck with a box in his hands.

"What's in the box?" Lana asked him when he came in the door.

"Oh it's just one of my mom's apple pies she made earlier." Clark shrugged, "I thought we couldeat some of it here then you can keep the rest if you wanted to."

"Sure, sounds wonderful. I love your mom's pies. She makes the best in Smallville." Lana smiled.

"I'll cut us a slice." Clark went behind the counter and got a knife, cut a slice, grabbed 2 forkes, and came back to the table.

"Mmm..it smells really good." Lana picked up a fork and took abite of pie. "AS always, best pie I've ever tasted."

Clark just sits there staring at Lana.

Lana: "What?"

Clark: "You look cute when you do that."

Lana: "What, eat?"

Clark: "Yeah."

Lana: "How do I eat cute?"

Clark: "I don't know you just do."

"Well I hope so, I don't want to look ugly when I eat. That wouldn't be flattering." Lana started to giggle at the thought.

Clark tried to picture that image and giggled, too.

"Hey you're not supposed to laugh." Lana said between peals of laughter.


Once they were finished with the pie they went into the back of the Talon where there was an old movie theatre from before the place wasa coffeshop.
"What are we watching?" Clark asked.

Lana: "'Rebel Without a Cause' have you ever seen it?"

Clark: "No, but I hear it's good."

Lana: "Come on, it's starting."

Lana led him to 2 seats in the center near the back. The armrest between them was raised, so when they sat down, they sat at an angle and Lana did a half-lean half-lay on Clark so her head rested between his head and his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around her and his hand landed on her hip. She linked her arms in his and the sat like that during the whole movie.

By the time the movie wasover, Lana was asleep. She looked like an Angel in his arms. He stayed like that for a moment, then he picked her up, her arms wrapping around his neck, and carried her upstairs and layed her in her bed. He tookher blanket from the end of the bed and covered her with it.
On the way out, Clark grabbed a notepad and pen off of her desk, and wrote a note. Then he put it back on her desk and walked carefully to his truck and went home.

Clark couldn't go to sleep that night. He kept thinking about how to tell her. He couldn't start from the beginnig, that would be too painful for her. To start with the people affected would psych her out and make her think the wrong way. He would have to start by showing her.That would have to do there was no other way.

'How would she react?'

That is something he would find out soon enough. Sleep finally creeping in on him he gladly drifted off to slep. Maybe his subconscience would figure it out.

Lana awoke the next morning. She remembered falling asleep in Clark's arms, so he must have carried her to her room

When she stood up, something caught her eye on her desk. Something was written on her notepad.


I need to tell you something, something I've never told anyone.
Meet me in the lost at 9:00 tonight.

Lana walked over to the phone and dialed Clark's number.

"Hello?" Clark answered the phone.

Lana: "Hey."

Clark: "Hey, Lana."

Lana: "I, uh, got your note."

Clark: "Oh, really. Well, it's something I think you deserve to know, Lana. I trust you enough to tell you about it."

"Wow, no one's ever trusted me this much before. You're the first person to ever tell me a deep dark secret." Lana blushed.

Clark: "Well, you should feel very special, then."

Lana: "I definitely do, but, um, I gotta go now. It's time to open up the Talon. Talk to you later,ok?"

Clark: "ok, bye."

Lana: "Bye." -click.

Lana put the phone back on the receiver and headed downstairs to open up.




I hope you like it. sorry I didn't make this one as long but I'm having writer's block, so I'll make the next one longer that the previous one. Promise.

Clark went downstairs, he saw his parents sitting at the table eating breakfast. He headed over to the refrigerator and got out some orange juice and poured it into a glass.

"Aren't you going to havesome breakfast, Clark?" Martha asked.

Clark: "No, that's ok, I'll just drink this and get started on my chores."

Martha: "Ok."

Clark downed the glass and walked out the door towards the barn.

Once he finished his chores, he went up to the Loft to lay down and think a while. He layed down on the couch and layed his hand over his forehead.'I can't talk to my parents about it because they will try to talk me out of it. I could ask Chloe, she'd be the best personto talk to.' Clark decided on this and headed off to the house to call Chloe.


Clark: "Hey, Chloe, could you meet me in the Loft as soon as you can?"

Chloe: "Yeah sure, Clark, what's going on?"

Clark: "I have something to ask you, and I can't do it over the phone."

Chloe: "Ok, I'll be there in 15 minutes."

Clark: "Ok, bye."

Chloe: "Bye." -click

Chloe hung up the phone, and grabbed her keys. Heading out the door, she yelled back to her dad, "I'll be backin a few minutes!"

Mr. Sullivan: "Ok, hunny."

Once she got into her car she headed off to the Kent's house. She jumped out of her car when she got there, and went over to the barn. She saw Clark looking out of the window, deep in thought.

Chloe: "Hey, Clark, what is it you wanted to tell me?"

Clark, startled, turned around to face Chloe. "Um, well, let's just say, theoretically, that I was to tell you my deepest secret. How would you deal with that?"

"Well, it depends, what kind of deep secret?" Chloe walked over to the couch and sat down.

"One that could change the way you think of me, like I was a tottally different person."

"Well I would have to think about it, you know, how it would affect our friendship, if at all."

"So you wouldn't be mad at me fornot telling you earlier?" Clark walked over and sat beside her.

"No, of course not Clark, I would be happy that you felt comfortable enough to tell me at all."

"That makes me feel a lot better, thanks Chloe, you're the best."
Clark gave her a huge hug.

"Yea? well I should be after all the advice I've given you over the years." Chloe said smiling.

"What do you say, how bout we get a cup of coffee?" He offered.

"You know I can't turn down coffee." Chloe gave him her 1000 watt smile.

Clark stood up an offered his arm to Chloe. She stood up and slipped her arm through his, and let him lead her to her car.

The got to the Talon and sat down, ordered their coffee and started talking. From behind the counter, Lana saw them at the table, and walked over to them. "Hey you two, what's up?" Lana bent over and gave Clark a kiss on the cheek.
Chloe: "Oh, not much, just chattin'."


"Oh, ok." Pulling up a chair Lana joined her two friends. "So, Chloe, what have you been up to? I haven't talked to you in a few days."

"Well, pretty much the same old thing, working on the Torch, eating my dad's food that even the garbage disposal won't eat."

All three of them went into giggles.

Clark: "Well, at least he tries, if my dad tried to cook, I bet the pigs wouldn't even eat it." at that, they all busted out laughing.


"Hey, Lana, we need you over here!"

"Well that's my cue, I'll see you later." She gave Clark aquick kiss then walked over tothe counter to help out.

"I really need to go too, I have things to work on at home. I'll talk to you later, Clark." Chloe got up and started towards the oo.

"Ok, bye Chloe." Clark sat there and finished his coffee then he, too, got up and left.

well since it seems likeyou're the only one I'll put the next installment on.

He walked over to the barn once he got home. Looking at his watch, he noticed that it was 7:30. On his way to the Loft, Clark started to think,'I think it's time that I tell Lana, I trust her, and she deserves to know, she's gone through enough.' He walked over to the window and stared out at the fields.

After a while, he hears footsteps coming up the stairs. Seconds later, Lana's head popped up.

"Hey, Lana." Clark turned around to face Lana. "I didn't know it was 9:00 already."

"It's not, it's 8:45." Lana smiled, walked up to him, and grabbed his hands."You had something you wanted to tell me, what is it?"

"You might want to sit down for this." Clark led her over to the couch and sat down."What I'm about to tell you will change the way you think of me."


that's all I can put right now but I've gotta go do something and I'll edit it in a few minutes.

Sorry guys I had to go visit a friend, and it took longer than I expected, she was having b/f problems and I helped her through it. Here's the next part:

"Oh boy, that serious, huh?"

"Yep, but if I tell you, it will be too much to take in, and I don't want to freak you out. So I hoped tht if I just show you it might explain some of the things about me that you didn't understand."

"Should I be worried?" Lana asked him, puzzled.

"No, at first you might be, but don't worry you'll be perfectly fine, I promise." Clark led her over to the ledge at the end of the loft. "Now, stand up on this rail."

"Are you sure you're ok? You're sounding crazy."

"I know, I sound nuts, but do you trust me?"

"Of course I trust you, with all my heart." Lana looked up at Clark adoringly. "Ok, here goes."

Clark lifted her onto the rail. "Ok, now on the count of three, jump."

"What!?!"

"Lana, trust me, you'll be fine, I'll hold on to you until you jump, then I'll catch you."

"OK, now you are crazy, how are you going to do that?"

"You'll see, just do it."

"Ok. . ."

Clark grabbed onto her ankles, she closed her eyes, counted to 3 and jumped. He supersped down to the bottom of the stairs and stood there, waiting.

She was falling for only a few seconds then she felt his arms under her.

"How. . . how did you do that?" Lana stared at him blankly.

"I have special abilities, Lana, now before you say anything, I am not a meteor freak. I did have something to do with the meteor shower though."

"What do you mean abilities as in plural?"

"Because, unlike all the meteor freaks around here, I have more than one ability, you see. . ."

"Ok, stop right there, you mean to tell me that I've had my own personal hero all this time?"

"Well yea, I guess you could say that." Clark stood Lana back on the floor.

Lana gave Clark a huge kiss, one that left him wanting more.

"What was that for?"

That was for saving my life so many times." Lana wrapped her arms around his waist. "So what other 'abilities' does our favorite farmboy Clark Kent have?" She looked into his eyesand smiled at the man she had loved since the first day they met.

"Well there's superspeed, as you saw,superstrength, heat vision, superhearing, and x-ray vision."

"X-ray vision?" Lana backed away from him covering herself with her arms, "You never. . . did you?"

"No, no never, well maybe once." Clark said sheepishly.

"Clark!" she slapped him on the chest playfully.

"Oh, and I almost forgot, nothing can hurt me, well technically nothing."

"What do you mean technically?"

"Well you know those green meteor rocks here in Smallville?"

"All too well, unfortunately."

"Those are the only thing that can hurt me, and the red ones make me act differently."

"That explains a lot." Lana said understandingly.

'She is taking this suprisingly well.' "You are tking this all in better than I thought."

"Clark, I don't care what you are I will always love you for you not your abilities."

"Thaks a lot, Lana that means a lot." Clark looked outside and notived it was getting dark. "Hey, Lana it's gettig pretty late what do you say we sleep on all this and continue this conversation tomorrow?"

"Sure, is it ok if I stay here tonight, Clark I'm pretty sleepy.

"Of course you can, Lana, you can sleep in my bed." Clark and Lana headed off towards the house.

Clark showed her to his room and asked her if she needed anything.

"Nope I'm good thanks for letting me stay, Clark."

"Anytime." He then shut the door and went downstairs. Grabbing a blanket from the closet, he went over to the couch and turned it into a bed. He layed there a minute, thinking about tomorrow, before going to sleep.



Upstairs, Lanawas looking around in his room. Then she saw that a program was running on his computer. Walking over there she noticed it was his e-mail. Deciding not to invade his privacy, Lana minimized it and moved over to his dresser. 'A pocket knife, watch, receipts, . . .' she noted the item that were on the top of his dresser. "Let's see what's inside," Lana opened a drawer, "plaid, obviously." Taking one of his shirts and closing the drawer, she slips it on.

She walked over to the bed and laid down trying to go to sleep, unsuccessfully. Silently going downstairs, she sees Clark asleep on the couch.

'He's so adorable.' Lana thought going over and laying next to him, wrapping his arm around her. Feeling a sense of security, she fell asleep with a smug smile on her face.


The next morning Clark awoke with his arms around someone. Lifting his head he noticed it was Lana. He moved his hand and got up on his arms, giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"hmmm. . . " Lana mumbled turning over.

"Wake up, sweetheart, I'll make breakfast."

"Breakfast! You can cook?" Lana jumped up fully awake now.

"Yes I can cook."

sorry it's so short but I gotta get off and I'll edit it tomorrow or wednesday and make it super mondo longer. so watch out.

Clark got up and headed toward the kitchen.

"Well, Clark, you're just full of suprises lately."

"Yep, that's me."

Lana stood up and stretched.

"Hope my shirt was comfortable enough for you." He commented, seeing she had one of his shirts on.

"Oh, yea, sorry."

"It's ok you can keep it if you want to, everyone knows they're my whole wardrobe." Clark laughed.

"Seriously, but sure, I'd love to have it. Of course I'd have to alter it a little bit to be more form fitting." Lana pulled the fabric of the shirt behind her so it looked tighter on her body, and did a little twirl.

"Do whatever you want to it to your heart's content, it's yours now." Clark pulled her closer to him and gave her a kiss. He then linked hisarms around her waist and they both looked into each others eyes, for what seemed like a lifetime.

"So, how about that breakfast? I'm getting pretty hungry." She starts to rub her tummy. "What are we having?"

"How about an omelet? Sound good?" Clark, smiling, knows that it's her favorite breakfast food.

"Of, course, my favorite."

"Well yours is done, Just the way you like it." He handed Lana her plate, and walkedover to the fridge. "What would you like to drink, darling?" Clark slipped a smile.

"Orange juice is fine, thanks honey." She smiled at the fact that they had started using pet names.

"Coming right up." He walked over to the table, somehow balancing a plate and 2glasses of O.J.

During the meal, Clark could tell that there was something bothering Lana. "Lana, what's bothering you?"

"Oh, nothing, I was just thinking about how you were being so honest and trusting in telling me your secret last night..."

"Ok."

"It's just that I have something to tell you, but I don't understand it myself."

"Well, if you talk me through it, maybe I can help you out." Clark grabbed her hands accross the table.

"Well, I had this dream a few days ago..."

"Yea, it started out with you and Chloe in Chandler's Field. Somehow Chloe was haning from the edge of the windmill, and you yelled up to her to jump. She finally jumped down and you caught her, Chloe called you her own personal hero and then . . ."
Lana looked away, tears starting to fall.

"Then what, Lana?"

Lana turned her head back around. "She gave you a kiss. Not any old regular friendly kiss on the cheek either. I mean full out french kiss, and you didn't push her away!" She felt tears start to fall again.

"Honey, it's ok it was just a dream, it is a figment of your imagination. It will never happen, I promise." Clark embraced Lana in his arms and stood there while Lanalet her tears come out.

"I know Clark, but just seeing you with her, it made me jealous." Lana lifted her head from his shoulder and looked into his eyes. "Don't get me wrong, she's like a sister to me. I just don't want her to steal you away from me."

Clark wiped away her tears. "You don't have to worry about that, no one is ever going to do that."

Lana gives Clark a huge hug then turns to the kitchen table. "Well I guess we should clean this up." She grabs her plate and glass and takes it over to the sink. "But, Clark?"

"Yea?" He answered behind her with his plate and glass in hand, laying them next to her's in the sink.

"What do you think the dream means?"

"I don't know, but I do know that something similar to that happened a while ago."

"What?!"

"Well you were there, that one time when me and Chloe were in the Talon making out. Chloe was infected with that parasite, remember?"

"Yea, unfortunately."

"But, the real reason why I was doing that was that Pete had slipped me some Red-K. Pete, Chloe, and I were in the loft and Chloe jumped off of the ledge, like you did, and I caught her. I don't see how you would be having a dream about that, though." Clark shrugged.

"Maybe we should worry about that later." Lana sat down on the couch and motioned for Clark to sit next to her. "It's just to painfull for me to think about right now. I thought I could handle it enough to talk to you , but I guess not."

"I understand. It's ok, you don't have to tell me anything until you feel comfortable about it."

"Lana leaned her head on Clark's shoulder. I wish we could stay like this forever, and never have to worry about anything ever again."

"That would be great, but unfortunately, for us, that's not going ot happen." Clark snuck his arms around her tiny waist and gave her a hug. "So what do you want to do today?" He kissed Lana on the top of her head.

"Well,I haven't been horseback riding in a while, up to it?" Lana smiled.

"Sounds good to me, when?"

"How about in an hour, I'm not quite ready to get up yet." Lana said, sliding into Clark's lap.

"Works for me." He kissed her, then they sat like that, staring into each others eyesadoringly for an hour.

Lana- 'God, please don't let us mess it up this time,I don't want to go through that again.'

Clark-"I agree, I don't want to break her heart again.'

Lana-'Woah, you know what I was thinking?'

Clark-'Wow, I guess I do. Do you understand what I'm thinking?'

Lana- Nods

Clark-'This is strange.'

Lana-'You can say that again.'

L-'Weel, it's only fair, but you won't find much info that you don't already know.'

C-'Well that's no fun.'

L-'Sorry, sweatheart.' (giggles)

C-'How about that horseride you were talking about?'

L-'Yeah, I guess I'm ready to get up now.'

Laughing, they walked to the barn to get the horses.

"It feels like forever since I've been out here." Lana said once they got on the trail.

Clark smiled.

"What?" she asked, confused.

L-'Seriously, what is it?'

C-'I just haven't seen you this happy in a long time.'

L-'I haven't FELT this happy in a long.'

C-'I'm glad your happy'

Lana jumped off of her horse, and tied him to a tree. Clark jumped off his too, and also tied him to the tree. He noticed that they were at Crater Lake.

C-'I'm confused.'

L-'You are.'

C-'I am.'

L-'No, I mean you're the reason.'

C-'I am?'

L-'Yeah.'

Lana moved closer and kissed him.

C-'oh.'

L-'yep'

They walked over to the end of the dock, kicked their shoes off, and sat there dangling them in the water.

C-'Do you remember that one time when I missed like a week of school cuz my neighbor kept me in my dreams?'

L-'Yeah.'

C-'Did I ever tell you what was in the first dream?'

L-'No I don't think you did.'

C-'Well I think you're ready to hear it now.'

L-'Oh goodness, what happened?'

C-'Well. . . we kind of. . . went. . . skinnydipping. . . '

Lana's eyes widened a little, and a corner of her mouth curled into a smile.

C-'In this lake. . . '

They got up, turned their backs to each other. They slipped out of you clothes and dived in.

long time no update eh??

well, sry I haven't finished this story, but I had lost my notebook for a while and found it again a couple of days ago. I have added LOTS more to it. so since I am finally on summer break now, I shall update all the new stuff I've written.

but only if you guys want me to, so I'll need some posts on here first while I work on typing it.

They got back to the barn, put the horses in their stalls and went back inside.

C- 'This is going to be interesting when we attempt to tell my parents.'

L- 'Yea, but atleast we are going through it together.'

C- 'True, I would go crazy if I had to deal with this on my own.'

L- 'Me too.'

Lana reached her tiny arms around Clark's waist and layed her head on his shoulder. He rested his chin on the top of her head. A tear slid down her cheek.

L- 'It feels like I've finally become happy, and something like this happens everytime.'

Clark wiped away the tear from her face.

C- 'It's ok, I'm here, I'll make sure that everything turns out fine for the both of us.'

L- 'I love you, Clark.'

C- 'I love you too, Lana, with all of my heart.'

"HI, MOM!" said the sign that Clark held up to his mother when she walked in the door.

"Hi, Clark, why are you holding up that sign?" Martha asked, puzzled.

Lana, standing beside him, holds up another sign that reads, "Our voices are MIA, we don't know how."

"Oh my gosh, what happened?"

Clark motioned for them to follow him into the livingroom where there was a notepad and a pen on the table. They sat down on the couch, Clark grabs the pad and pen and starts writing. Once he was finished writing, he handed the notepad to his mom.

It took her a minute to read it and think about it. "So you can read each other's minds? Can you read other people's minds, too?" Martha was very confused about the whole situation. She hands the pad back to Clark. Clark hands the pad to Lana.

C- 'You tell her this one.'

Lana writes something, then hands it back to Mrs. Kent.

We haven't really tried it on anyone else.

"Well then, try it out on me. Just let me think of something............ok got it."

Clark and Lana concentrate on Mrs. Kent's mind.

C- 'Nope.'

L- 'Nothing.'

They both shake their heads at Martha.

Jonathan pulls into the driveway. He gets out of the car and goes into the house. Once he opens the door, the first thing he sees is Martha, Lana, and Clark sitting in the livingroom deep in 'discussion.'

"Hey guys, what's going on?"

Startled, Martha turns to see her husband walking int othe livingroom. "Um, Jonathan, you're not going to believe this."

"What is it?"

"Well Clark and Lana can't talk, and it's not the symptom of sickness kind."

"What!?! How did this happen?"

"They don't know, that's the problem."

"Okay, well, what have you two done today?"

They look at each other for a minute. C- 'Do you wanna tell them or should I?'

L- 'Let me tell them.' Lana took the pad and started writing. When she finished she handed it to the Kents.

"So all you've done today is go horseback riding and swimming in Crater Lake?" Jonathan stated after he finished reading the note.

*nod*

"Aren't there still some meteors in that lake?" Martha asked Jonathan.

"I think so."

Clark and Lana- 'Sh**'

"What? What's the matter?" Martha asked them seeing the look on their faces.

'We think that might have had something to do with it.' Clark wrote.

L- 'What are we gonna do?'

C- 'I don't know.'

L- 'Should we tell them?'

C- 'No! no telling what they'll do.'

L- 'Well, we've got to tell them something.'

C- 'Ok, I'll tell them.'

Clark took the pad and started writing again. Once he finished, he showed it to Lana, nodding, then gave it back to his parents to read.

"What do you mean you felt something under the water?" Martha said after reading.

Lana shrugged, took the pad and wrote: We have no idea what it could've been.

"Well, it is Crater Lake" Jonathan replied.

"But Clark goes swimming in that lake all the time and this never happened before."

C- 'Yea, I never went skinnydipping, either.' Lana covers a giggle.

"Yea, but this time something did happen, and we've got to figure out what it was. Clark, did you tell anyone else about this?"

Clark replies on paper: I left a note on Chloe's computer, we thought se might be able to help.

"If anyone can help, it's Chloe." Martha say looking to Jonathan.

"You're right."

*phone rings*

"Hello? Chloe?" Jonathan answers.

"Hey, Mr. Kent, are Clark and Lana ok?"

"Yea, they're handling it ok. Think you can help?"

"I might be able to, I don't know, I'm on my way."

"Ok, Hurry."

"(reading)Only about 30-45 minutes....any idea what could've triggered it?"

Clark writes.

"(reading).... Well there must've been something else that added to just you two thinking of the same thing about each other. If that was all that triggered it, we would have a lot of mind readers on this planet."

C- 'Oh no....'

Clark starts searching his pockets and feels something in his shirt pocket.

L- 'What's wrong, Clark?'

Clark pulls his class ring out of his pocket.

L- 'I'm confused.'

C- 'You know how the stone in this thing is a red meteor rock?'

L- 'Oh...'

"Can I see it?" Chloe asks Clark.

Clark hands her the ring. Once it touches her fingers she jerks her hand back and drops the ring on the floor. "Geez! It feels like it's on fire! Wait a minute....."

Clark and Lana look at Chloe confused while she thinks about the ring.

"Well, if the ring possibly is the trigger, I wonder what will happen if you two stay away from it long enough."

Clark writes: It's worth a try.

"Clark, you don't want this anymore do you?"

Clark shakes his head. "Okay." Chloe chucks it out the window into the fields. "Now we need to go back to Crater Lake and see if we can find anything that might make you two lose your voices. Take my car?"

Lana gives Chloe a thumbs up.

"Well, nothing suspicious so far." Chloe says as she wades deeper into the lake. Clark knocks on the dock and hold up the notepad that says: Let's try under the dock.

"Good idea, perfect place for someone or something to hide."

The three of them swim under the dock. Lana sees something tucked under a rick and grabs it, shakes it at Chloe and Clark and swims toward the surface.

Later on at the Talon:

L- 'I wonder what it could be.'

C- 'I don't know, but I bet Chloe knows, or knows someone that does.'

Chloe comes back to the table after getting off the phone with one of her MANY connections. "I think I know what it is." She pulls the item out of her purse and puts it on the table. "It;s a waterproof altering/tracking device for meteor freaks. Since neither one of you are MeFre's, I'm guessing it thought your ring was the freak and possibly escalated the whole mind reading thing, causing you two to switch into permanent ESP mode: no speech permitted. By the way, how's the whole 'staying away from the ring' theory working?"

Lana writes: It's definitely working, we've only been able to do it a couple of times since we left Clark's house.

"Well I have a friend, Jason, who lives in Metropolis that might be able to help. I talked to him a minute agoasking if he would help. He's a big high-tech buff, if he can't help, I don't know anyone who can."

Clark writes: will he help?

"Yea, he said to just wait for him here, that he's on his way." The Talon door opens with that typical tiny bell sound, and a guy with a backpack and laptop briefcase walks in. "There he is now, Hey Jason!" *waves at him to come sit with them* Jason walks over, sits down next to Chloe sitting his backpack and briefcase next to him on the floor.

"Hey Chloe, *looks at Clark and Lana* and you two must be the voiceless ones."

"Jason, this is Clark and Lana. Clark and Lana, this is Jason."

"Hi!"

*wave*

"So this is the devise that you told me about?" Jason said pointing to the tracker in the middle of the table.

"Yea, do you know how to use it?"

"Hold on, let me check my files." Jason takes out his laptop and starts searching through his many research documents."Ah ha! Here it is. Wait a minute... *looks at the picture on his laptop and then at the one on the table* This one seems to have some knid of handmade adaptor on it. *picks it up* wow, it's really good, too."

"Is that a bad thing?"

"Well, whoever owns this thing really knows their stuff, but luckily they left some barcodes on the parts. All we have to do now is type the code on them into the hardware store's sales database and see who bought the parts."

"Well, what are we waiting for?"

"Alright, alright, don't get restless. It'll just take a minute to hack into the database" Jason starts to type away on the laptop.

A minute or two later, Jason's head pops up from behind the computer, "Okay, I got it. Someone named . . . Blake Smith, know him?"

Clark recognizes the name and starts writing: He works for Lex...

Lana: 'Are you sure?'

Clark: 'Positive.'

Chloe: "Oh My God, does it have an address listed?"

Jason: "No, but if I know you like I think I do, you can get it. Can't you?"

Chloe: "Yea, can I borrow your laptop for a sec?"

"Sure." Jason pushes the computer towards Chloe. Chloe goes to work finding the address. "Got it: Blake Smith, 1329 Coddington St., Granville, KS

"He lives in Granville?' Lana wrote on the pad.

Clark replies on the paper: 'Lex had most of his employees move to Granville.'

Jason: "Why?"

Clark's reply: 'I don't know, I think it was so they don't over-crowd Smallville.'

Chloe: "Yea, sure. Okay, anybody want to come with me to go ask this Blake guy some questions?" Clark and Lana raise their hands.

"I'm gonna go, I've got stuff I gotta do. If you need me I'm on my cell, kay?" Jason starts putting his laptop back in the briefcase.

"Alright, thank you so much, by the way. I couldn't have done it without you." Chloe said hugging Jason.

"Oh, no biggie. See ya later!" Jason waves at them, picks up his stuff, and heads toward the front door.

"Let's go!" Chloe, Clark, and Lana head to Chloe's car.

"Yes, we're friends of the Luthor's, and we wanted to speak to Mr. Smith. Is he home?" Chloe replied smiling.

"Yes, just a second, I'll go get him." She dissappeared into the house. A moment later, a man in his early 30's came out, shutting the door behind him.

"Hello, Blake Smith, my wife says you're friends of the Luthor's?" Blake shook their hands.

"Well, sort of. Can we ask you a few questions?" Chloe asked.

"Sure, please sit down." Mr. Smith motioned toward the painted black furniture on his porch.

"Thank you. You work for Lex, right?" Chloe sat in one of the chairs.

"That's right," Blake looks at Lana and Clark, "are your friends okay?" Clark and Lana smile nervously.

"They're actually what I want to talk to you about. You see, they got 'hit' (bunny ears) by something you made. Now they can't talk, and we came here to ask you why you made this." Chloe pulls out the tracker from here purse.

"How do you know I made it?" Mr. Smith asked taking the tracker from Chloe and looking at it.

"Well, I have a friend who knows all there is to know about those. He looked you up in the sales database from the parts you used for the handmade adaptor on it that you made."

"I must admit, you're smarter than you look. Since you already know so much about it, what do you need me for?" Blake eyes Chloe.

"I just want to know how it works, so my friends here can get their voices back." Chloe eyes him back.

"If you must know, it's only supposed to 'attack' (bunny ears) Meteor Freaks. Lex had me make these adaptors for them and plant them all over Smallvlle, but, uh, am I missing something? Cause your friends don't look like Meteor Freaks to me, are they?" Mr. Smith looked at Lana and Clark sitting on the bench-swing as Lana leans her head on Clark's shoulder.

"No, actually, they're not. You see, our class rings have red meteor rocks in them instead of rubies, and Clark had one in his pocket when he and Lana were swimming and your little machine there stole their voices, we think that's what triggered it. Wait, so you're saying that you made adaptors that attacks those tracker-thingies to Meteor Freaks?" Chloe was confused.
