Chapter 1(Lost):

One Year Later

*It was a year, since that the day they were torn a part. The day Lana slipped out of his life. Clark was now in Metropolis, forfilling his Destiny. He was working at the Daily Planet with his best friend Chloe Sullivan and her cousin, Lois Lane. Clark hasn't become superman yet.*

Lois: Geez, Smallville, you write as slow as an old lady. How are we going to get this assignment done in time?

Clark: Don't worry Lois, i always come up big.

*Clark and Lois were partners at the Planet. Clark had wanted to be Chloe's partner, but Perry insisted on him working with Lois. He still couldn't understand why.*

Perry: Hey Lane and Kent, get in my office, NOW!

*Lois and Clark walk into his office.*

Clark: Yes sir?

Perry: I put you two together, because you're the best we got, along with Miss. Sulivan. Always come down with the big stories and bring in the money.

Clark and Lois: Thank you sir.

Perry: I need you to cover a big story in Metropolis.

Clark: What is it?

Perry: Lex Luthur the billionare and owner of Luthur Corp is getting married.

*Clark had lost touch with Lex, but he didn't consider him an enemy or anything. Just a lost friend.*

Lois: Who's he marrying?

Perry: I don't know, some girl from his old home.

Clark: Smallville?

Perry: Yeah, that was it?

Lois: Wonder who?

Perry: Doesn't matter, just be ready to be at Luthur Plaza, say around 7 tomorrow night?

Lois and Clark: Okay Boss.

Perry: Now please exit so i can get some work done.

*They exit and go back to their desk.*

Chloe: What did he want?

Clark: He wanted us to cover a wedding and engagement of a couple.

Chloe: Who?

Clark: Lex.

Chloe: Lex is getting married? Maybe the third time is the charm?

Clark: Maybe, but i want to know who he's marrying.

Chloe: Perry didn't say?

Clark: No, he said she was from Smallville though.

*At that moment Chloe and Lois exchanged looks.*

Chloe: Clark, you don't think it could......

Clark: Could what?

Chloe: Nevermind.

Clark: Whatever, it may be fun to catch with Lex again.

Lois: Yeah, it should be a blast.

Chloe: Don't sound too excited Lois.

Lois: We could be doing better things with our time.

Clark: Yeah, well, we could have worse jobs too.

*Scene shifts to Smallville, at Lana's apartment. Lana had lived at Smallville for the past year, went to school and became a business partner at good Company. Not to mention a boyfriend, she had been with for a couple of months now.*

Lana: Hey.

Boyfriend: Hey, you look beautiful today.

*They kiss.*

Lana: I hear you're taking a trip tomorrow.

Boyfriend: I am and i want you to come.

Lana: Why? You usually go alone on your business trips.

Boyfriend: I know, i just wanted company this time.

Lana: Offcourse i'll go.

Boyrfriend: Great, i won't have to be lonely tonight.

Lana: You're never alone with me.

Boyfriend: That's why I love you.

Lana: What time are we leaving tomorrow?

Boyfriend: Around 12 pm, I want to arrive early.

Lana: Ok, i'll see you then.

*He leaves as she begins to pack for her trip.*

Chapter 2 "Remember":

*Clark's apartment, he had been living alone since he moved to Metropolis.*

*Knock on the door.*

Clark: Hello.

Lois: Hey, it's chloe and lois.

Clark: Come in.

*They enter.*

Chloe: Come on Clark, you better hurry up and get ready for the party.

Lois: Always making us wait, Smallville.

Clark: I'll be ready in a second, just let me my stuff.

*He leaves to get his notebook and pencil.*

Lois: Chloe, tonight's the time to make your move.

Chloe: Lois, i can't, we're working tonight.

Lois: Aww, come on. If you keep waiting, eventually time will ruin out and he won't be interested.

Chloe: Who says he is now?

Lois: I do, you should at least try.

Chloe: You're right, i'll do it tonight.

*Clark comes back in.*

Clark: Alright, let's go.

*They leave for the party.*

*Scene shifts to Lana's boyfriend's place in Metropolis.*

Boyfriend: Come on Lana, are you ready yet?

Lana: I'll be ready soon, don't worry.

Boyfriend: Okay, well, i'll be outside when you're ready.

Lana: Alright.

*He moves outside of the room as the scene shifts to Luthur Plaza entrance.*

Lois: Wow, this place is huge.

Chloe: Wouldn't expect anything less from Lex.

Clark: Well, let's go in.

*They enter after showing the guards their press passes.*

Lois: Hey, there's lex.

*They walk over to him.*

Lois: LEX!

Lex: Hi Lois, what are you doing here.

Lois: Me and my partner are covering a story on you.

Lex: Oh, who's your partner.

*Lex sees Clark and eyes begin to widened with shock.*

Clark: Hey Lex.

Lex: Uhh, hi Clark.

Clark: Glad to hear you're getting married.

Lex: Yeah....

Chloe: Third time is the charm, right Lex.

*Lex isn't paying attention to Chloe as he just stares at Lex.*

Clark: Something wrong Lex?

Lex: No, everything is fine.

Clark: Good, so who's the lucky girl.

Lex: Ahhh, i have to go now.

*He Leaves quickly.*

Clark: What was that all about.

*Chloe gives Lois a look like she did yesterday at the Planet.*

Clark: What? Does someone know something I don't?

Chloe: Off course not, let's get a drink.

*They get a drink and moments later they hear the hitting of a glass by Lex.*

Lex: Ladies and Gentlemen, i asked you all hear tonight to share a very special moment with you. I would now ask my finacee to join me.

*Everyone turns toward the door as Clark drops his notebook. Clark goes down to pick up the notebook as a beautiful black hair'ed girl enters through the doors.*

Chloe: Oh my God.

Lois: No way!

Chapter 3 "Emotions":

*Clark gets up with his notebook and looks at lois and chloe.*

Clark: Why the shocked faces?

*He turns around and see's Lana. He drops his things again.*

Clark: Lana?

*Clark looks as if he's seen a ghost and a hurt look comes over his face.*

Lois: Clark?

Chloe: Clark are you okay?

*He doesn't reply.*

Lois: I guess i'm going to be doing all the questioning tonight.

Chloe: Yeah, i'd say so.

*Attention returns to Lex and Lana.*

Lex: Ladies and Gentlemen let me introduce my beautiful Finacee, Lana Lang.

Lana: Thank you Lex, i'm glad all of you could make it here tonight.

*Looks over the crowd see's Chloe and Lois, but Clark has disappeared.*

Lana: Hey there's Lois and Chloe. I should go say hi to them Lex.

Lex: Okay.

*Lex noticing that Clark wasn't in site or near them. Lana goes over to them as Lex's tells people the date of their wedding and so on.*

Lana: Hey guys.

Chloe and Lois: Ah, hi Lana.

*Chloe and Lois have now noticed that Clark is gone as well.*

Lana: How are you two?

Chloe: We're fine, how about you?

Lana: I'm great, what are you guys doing here?

Chloe: We came to do a report on Lex and his wedding.

Lana: Oh, that's great, we'll get to catch up.

*Lois nodges Chloe.*

Chloe: Umm, Lana, we didn't come alone.

Lana: You didn't who else came?

*Lois and Chloe give her a weird look.*

Lana: No......

*Begins to turn away.*

Chloe: I'm afraid so, Clark was here.

Lois: Key word there, WAS.

*Lana couldn't speak, she was in shock.*

Lana: Do you know where he went?

Chloe: No idea, he saw you and then seconds later he bolted.

Lana: I didn't want him to find out like this.

Chloe: We know.

Lana: Maybe i should talk him.

Chloe: DO you think it's best, especially now?

Lana: Yes I do.

Chloe: Alright, here's his address.

*Chloe hands Lana his address that she wrote on a piece of paper. Lana then goes to Lex.*

Lex: Did you find them?

Lana: Yep and apparently Clark was here.

Lex: Yeah, i kind of bumped into him.

Lana: And you didn't tell him about us?

Lex: I couldn't, you know how he feels.

Lana: Fine, but you have to make it up to me by answering all of Lois and Chloe's questions tonight.

Lex: Okay, where are you going?

Lana: To find Clark.

Lex: Do you think that's a good idea?

Lana: Yes.

Lex: Alright, see you later.

Lana: Bye.

*They kiss as she leaves for Clark's apartment. Scene shifts to Clark's apartment before Lana arrives.*

Clark: I don't believe it. How could this be? It was a moment ago I had her in my barn and we said we loved each other. But I had to push her away. It was right, wasn't it?

*He questioned himself all night until there was a knock on the door, he didn't answer so Lana waked in.*

Lana: Been a long time.

*He just looked at her.*

Lana: I'm sorry i didn't tell you.

*No reply.*

Lana: You can't even talk at me? COME ON CLARK, TALK TO ME.

*He couldn't, not now.*

Lana: You can't respect me enough to even talk to me, after all we've been through?

*Slowly he opened his mouth.*

Clark: There's so much going on in my head right now. I feel like someone just punched me in the gut and then stepped on my heart, crushing it like a bug. Talking is not something i feel like doing, because all it will do is make me feel worse.

Lana: This isn't easy for me either.

*He nodded his head.*

Lana: I wanted to tell you.

Clark: But you didn't.

Lana: Just like you didn't tell me you were leaving. Instead I get some stupid note. How do you think I felt? You just walked out my life, without even a simple explaination.

Clark: It would have been too hard.

Lana: FOR WHO?

Clark: Both of us.

Lana: Always letting yourself off the hook.

Clark: I've never let myself off the hook, i put myself on the hook and i'm hanging from it.

*She nods.*

Clark: It wasn't suppose to be this way.

Lana: Or maybe it was, goodbye Clark.

*She walks out as Clark stares up at the stars.*

That was sad.. yet very funny... I loved the part when Chloe and Lois gave a Lana a weird look and how Clark didn't answer Lana when she came in. :lol: Anyways I was right it was lex that was with Lana... ew! anyways great update keep posting!

Chapter 4 "What happen?":

*The Daily Planet the next day, Perry's office.*

Perry: Hey Kent, nice job reporting last night.

*Thanks to Lois he thought, i owe her one.*

Clark: Listen boss, i can't do this story anymore.

Perry: Why not?

Clark: I knew the girl.

Perry: So, it should be even easier then.

Clark: I didn't just know her sir.

*He looks down at the ground.*

Perry: Oh, i see. You were in love with her?

Clark: Yes and it ended badly.

Perry: Listen kid, sometimes we have to do our jobs through the pain.

Clark: I can't.

Perry: You're going to have to, this is what separates the good reporters, from the best ones.

Clark: Sir...

Perry: I don't want to hear it Kent, go do your job.

*Clark slams the door on his way out.*

Chloe: I'm guessing it didn't go too well.

Clark: Nope, i still have to do this.

Lois: And it gets worse.

Clark: I seriously doubt that it can.

Lois: We have an interfer with them in an hour.

Clark: Why am i always wrong?

Lois: Must be a habit.

Clark: Yeah....

*Scene shifts to Lex's Mansion in Metropolis.*

Lex: This will be our home after the wedding.

Lana: It's nice.

Lex: So, how'd it go last night?

Lana: About the same as i expected.

Lex: That good huh?

Lana: Yep, it's a bad situation.

Lex: I could see that, so tell me. How did you feel when you saw him?

*Lana changes the expression on her face, as she looks down at the ground.*

Lex: Lana?

Lana: I don't know, but it doesn't change the way I feel about you.

Lex: That's nice to know.

*He smiles as slowly returns her attention back toward Lex.*

Lex: Well, it's about to get better. Guess who's coming over for an interview today?

Lana: Dan Rathers?

Lex: Try again.

*Lana sighs as there's a knock on the door.*

Lex: Come in.

Lois: Hey guys.

Lex: Hey Lois.

*Lois and Clark walks in, as he has that lost look in his eyes.*

Lex: Why don't you two sit down, we'll be right with you.

*Lois turns to Clark.*

Lois: Alright, i'll do the questioning and you do the writing.

Clark: Whatever.

Lois: It will be fine Clark.

*Lex and Lana sit down on the couch in front of Clark and Lois hand in hand as Clark stares at them.*

Lex: Ask away.

Lois: Okay, when is the wedding date?

Lex: The 27th of this month.

Lois: So, the wedding is 2 weeks away?

Lex: Yep.

*Clark breaks his pencil.*

Lois: It's okay Clark, i came prepared.

*Gives another pencil from a box she brought.*

Lois: How did you two fall in love.

*Clark lifts his head from his noteback and stares at Lana as Lex talks.*

Lex: Um, well, it kind of happened about 6 months ago. She can to me upset one day and i comforted her. then not soon after we kissed.

*Now Clark was staring a hole through Lex, trying as hard as he can not to use heat vision.*

Lois: Who's going to be the bestman and bridesmaids.

Lex: Well, i was hoping to ask someone to be my best man, but i doubt he'll say yes.

*Lex looks at Clark as Clark breaks his pencil again.*

Lois: Here you go.

Clark: Thanks.

Lois: How about you Lana?

Lana: I was hoping you and Chloe could help me there.

Lois: I'd love too and i'm sure Chloe would also.

Lana: Thanks.

*She says that, trying not to look at Clark.*

Lois: You told me how you fell in love, but not why? Care to explain.

Lex: Sure, i love her for her intelligence and strength during tough times. I also admire her as a person, she makes me a good person.

Lois: Lana?

*Lana starts very slowly and almost in a whisper.*

Lana: I love him, because he's always straight with me, never hides his feelings and he trust me.

*She looks at Clark as she says the word trust.*

Clark: I've heard enough, Lois you can take it from here.

*Clark gets up, as Lana follows him out.*

Lana: CLARK, what's your problem?

Clark: What's my problem? You really want to know?

Lana: Yes i really do.

Clark: Okay, well here it is. I have to sit there and listen to him tell me how he took you away from me.

Lana: No one took me away from you Clark. you did that on your own.

Clark: But I had too.

Lana: Then one are so mad?

Clark: Why? Because the girl I love my entire life is getting married to my so called best friend. Who surprisingly took the first chance he got with her as soon as I left. I never wanted this, i never wanted to break up with you 3 years ago or did i want to do it again a year ago. I was so in love with you.....I still am.

Lana: What do you want me from me?

Clark: I just want you.

Lana: You had me Clark, but didn't love me enough to tell me your secret or trust me enough.

Clark: It never had anything to do with trust. I had to protect you.

Lana: So what's changed?

Clark: I don't know.

Lana: Well, when you find out, let me know.

*She walks out as Clark puts his head into his hands.*

Chapter 5 "The Past.":

*Clark's Apartment, later at night, there's a knock at the door.*

Clark: Who is it?

Chloe: It's Chloe.

Clark: Come in.

*She walks in.*

Chloe: Just wanted to see how my best friends doing.

Clark: Not so good.

Chloe: Tell me about.

Clark: I'm not really up to it.

Chloe: I know, but sometimes it just helps to get it out.

Clark: Ok, Chloe, I feel like my heart was broken in two.

Chloe: You loved her, i wouldn't expect this to be easy.

Clark: It's not just that, I still love her and i realized when i saw her again, that's it never going to change. I tried running away from it, that's the real reason why i moved.

Chloe: Maybe you should move on Clark. There are other people out there besides her.

Clark: What are you saying? Should i just forget how I feel?

Chloe: No, i'm saying you should put those feelings to rest. She's getting married Clark, she's moved on and you should move on.

Clark: You know, maybe you're right.

*Places his hand on hers.*

Clark: Maybe i should move on.

*Scene shifts to Lex's Mansion.*

Lex: What happen?

Lana: We just had another blow out.

Lex: Oh, you okay?

Lana: Yeah, i'll be fine. I just need some rest.

Lex: Ok, goodnight.

*She goes to sleep.*

*Dream sequence *

Lana: When i was transported to this other world, i met a guy.

Clark: Oh.

Lana: I think I fell in love with this guy. I felt safe, when i was with him it felt right.

*Clark lowers his head in pain.*

Clark: Why are you telling me this?

*She lifts his head.*

Lana: Because that guy's name was Clark Kent.

Clark: What?

Lana: I thought I was falling for that guy, when i was just in love with Clark I knew, not him.

Clark: The same thing happened to me, just with another Lana.

Lana: So, what does that mean?

Clark: That we love each other, but it doesn't change anything.

Lana: Why can't we be together?

Clark: My life is too dangerous for you to be in.

Lana: I don't accept that.

*Lana is on the verge of tears.*

Clark: We have to.

Lana: Why?

Clark: Because sometimes in life to protect the one you love the most in the world, you have to give up the thing you want the most in the world.

*She gets up, tears flowing down her cheek and starts to walks down the stairs.*

Lana: It doesn't have to be this way.

Clark: I know.

*End of Dream sequence*

*She wakes up in a sweat.*

Lana: Clark........

*A tear rolls down her eyes. The Scene shifts to Clark's apartment where he had the same dream.*

Clark: Lana....

*The Next day at the Daily Planet.*

Lois: So you did it?

Chloe: Yep!

Lois: Alright cousin, nice work.

Chloe: Thanks, but i'm sure everything isn't ok all of a sudden.

Lois: Why?

Chloe: It's always complicated with Clark.

*Clark walks in.*

Chloe: Hey Clark.

Clark: Ahh, hi Chloe.

Chloe: How's it going?

Clark: Fine, about last night. I think it may have been a mistake.

*About to tear up.*

Chloe: Why? It's not a mistake the way I feel about it.

Clark: I know, but it's not a mistake the way I feel about Lana either. I had a dream last night, about how we broke up and I realized how big of a mistake that was. It wouldn't be fair of me to drag into this, you're too important to me to do that.

Chloe: Obviously not important enough.

*She gets up and walks away.*

Lois: What's the matter with you Smallville?

Clark: I'm sorry Lois, but I'm love with Lana and that will never change. It be unfair to Chloe if i pretend that I loved her, like I loved Lana. I hope you can understand.

Lois: Ever thought you're in love with the wrong girl?

*She gets up and walks away, leaving Clark to think.*

*Scene shifts to Lex's Mansion, where Lana and Lex are having breakfast.*

Lex: You seem a little preoccupied today, what's up?

Lana: Nothing, everything is fine.

Lex: I don't think it is.

Lana: Why do you say that?

Lex: Well, first off, you give me a weird look every time i ask you any Clark related questions and secondly you woke up in a sweat last night.

Lana: There's nothing to worry about Lex. I just had a nightmare and you know how important Clark was to my life.

Lex: I do and also know how much you loved him.

Lana: I did, but now i love you.

*Lex just nodded.*

Chpater 6 "Why?":

*The Next day Lana is picking out wedding dresses when she notices an old friend.*

Lana: Hey Pete! Is that you?

Pete: It's me.

*They hug.*

Lana: How are you?

Pete: I'm good, how are you?

Lana: Fine, i'm getting married.

Pete: I heard, kind of surprised it ended up this way.

Lana: Yeah, why?

Pete: I always thought you and Clark were meant to be together.

Lana: So did I, but he can't be honest with him and he keeps pushing me away.

Pete: Lana, there may be a reason for that.

Lana: I know his reasons, but it doesn't make me feel any better about them

Pete: No, see he's going on experience.

Lana: What do you mean?

Pete: I mean, i know Clark's secret and it was the reason why i left Smallville.

Lana: You know?

Pete: Yeah, Clark told me during our sophmore year in high school. I kind of had a bad reaction, but it worked out.

Lana: Then why can't he tell me?

Pete: Lana it goes much deeper for you?

Lana: Why do you say that?

Pete: Because you're so much more important to him, you are the girl he loves and his worst fear is you rejecting him. Remember when LuthurCorp spilled that gas and it made everyone have their worst fear?

Lana: Yeah.

Pete: You know what his fear was?

Lana: No.

Pete: It was you rejecting him.

Lana: How do you know that?

Pete: Because he told me.

Lana: I can understand that now, but who's it dangerous?

Pete: Well, again, you know how i left Smallville before our senior year?

Lana: Yeah.

Pete: It was because of Clark's secret i left, i couldn't handle the burden of keeping it and people would beat me up or try to kill me for it. So i told Clark that before i left. It was also the a couple days before you left for Paris, Clark was going to tell you his secret.

Lana: Wow, i never realized his reasons were that deep.

Pete: Well, now you do.

Lana: Thanks Pete.

Pete: Anytime.

*Pete leaves as Lana is left there staring at a wedding dress in thought.*

*Scene shifts to Clark's apartment, where there's a knock on the door.*

Clark: Yeah, who is it?

Lex: It's Lex, may I come in?

Clark: Sure.

Lex: I know this must be hard for you.

Clark: You have no idea how hard this is for me.

Lex: I'm sorry, you're right. I was still hoping however that you would still consider being my best man.

Clark: Can't do it.

Lex: Clark, you were(are) my best friend, one of the only true friends i have. I don't want to lose you, because of this.

Clark: I'm you're friend? That didn't stop you from going after Lana, did it?

Lex: No it didn't, because i was in love.

Clark: I see.

Lex: Listen Clark, two years ago i felt a darkness overcoming me. One that i could no longer hold back and as the year went on it became stronger and stronger until it also had me completely. Then Lana came into my life and we fell in love. After that, i haven't felt any darkness at all, she's made me good and i'm glad for it.

Clark: What do you want me to say to that Lex? DO you want me to forget how i feel, because Lex Luthur is happy? I can't do that.

Chloe: Fine, it's that we were getting so close to coming together and now she's back. I mean don't get me wrong, i love Lana like a sister, but i love Clark more and want to be with him. Does that make me a bad person?

Lois: No, it just makes you human. Sometimes you can't repress your feelings no matter how much you want to.

Chloe: What am I suppose to do?

Lois: Fight for what you want?

Chloe: But I can't compete with Lana, especially when it comes to Lana.

Lois: Well, then you already lost.

Chloe: Maybe you're right.

Lois: I am right, trust me on that.

Chloe: Thanks.

Lois: Anytime.

*Scene shifts to Lex's mansion.*

Lex: So i talked to Clark yesterday.

Lana: Yeah, how'd it go?

Lex: Not so well, i wish we could be friends again like we use to be.

Lana: I'm sure Clark will come around.

*Lana's completely lost in thought.*

Lex: I feel kind of bad for him though.

Lana: Why is that?

Lex: Because i knew how much he loved you, he use to tell me every day.

*Now Lana's attention quickly turned back to Lex.*

Lana: He did?

Lex: Yeah, he was so afraid of rejection, he couldn't even ask you for a year and a half.

Lana: What made him think i would reject him?

Lex: Honestly, i don't really know. I guess that's what happen when you're really in love, you get so afraid of the person you love rejecting you and it blinds your judgement.

Lana: Yeah.... I got to go Lex, see you later.

*Gives her a strange look.*

Lex: Ok, bye.

Lana: Bye.

*She leaves as the scene shifts to Clark's apartment where Chloe is.*

Clark: So what's up?

Chloe: I need to talk to you.

Clark: Ok.

*They sit down.*

Chloe: Clark, i know this must be a hard time for and you probably have mixed feelings right now.

Clark: I do and it is.

Chloe: I hate to complicate it more, but i need to tell you how i feel.

Chloe: Let me speak. Ever since we met 5 years ago i've been in love with you and no matter what happens i can never seem to shake it. I knew you always loved Lana and that i would be second. But still, i loved you and always hoped we could work things out. I still do and just wanted you to know that i will never give up on you.

*Almost in tears, she gives him a kiss on the cheek and walks out the door.*

Clark: Wow, i didn't see that coming.

*10 minutes later Lana knocks on the door.*

Clark: Hello.

Lana: Hey Clark.

Clark: Lana?

*Tries to smile.*

Lana: I needed to talk to you.

Clark: Yeah sure.

Lana: Yesterday i bumped into Pete while picking out my wedding dress.

*Clark cringes when she says wedding dress.*

Clark: How is Pete?

Lana: He's fine, but that's not what i wanted to talk to you about.

Clark: Oh, what is it.

Lana: Pete told me why you never told me your secret and kind of elaborated better than you did with examples of why. He told me why he left, that it was because of your secret, the daner and the burden it put on him.

Clark: Then you realize why i can't tell you.

Lana: I understand why, but i want to take that burden off of you Clark. I want to protect your secret and no matter what happens i want you to know that we're in this together.

*She places her hand on his, but he pulls away.*

Clark: Lana you have no idea how long i've been waiting to hear that, but you're getting married to Lex and maybe it was for the better.

Lana: How can you say that?

Clark: Because it's true, i mean i saw the evil in him before i left and now it's not there anymore. You make him happy.

Lana: Clark listen to me, i love you and only you.

Clark: I don't know.

Lana: Do you love me or not?

Clark: But Lana, it's a little complicated than that.

Lana: What's so complicated about it? We love each other don't we deserve to be with each other.

Clark: Yes we do, but there are more people involved in this then just us.

Lana: I know, i don't want to hurt Lex.

Clark: And i don't want to hurt Chloe.

Lana: She's still in love with you?

Clark: Yes and she came by before you to tell me that.

Lana: What are we going to do?

Clark: I think for now we should keep it a secret.

Lana: A secret? But i want to tell the world that i am in love with Clark Kent and that we're finally back together.

Clark: And we will, just not now. It will be too hard for everyone to swallow now.

*He puts his hands around her waist.*

Clark: Plus, i think it will be more fun this way.

Lana: Oooo, i like this sexy kind of Clark Kent.

Clark: You know we're alone right now, why don't you say we make up for some lost time?

Lana: Sounds good.

*They inch closer together, it had been a long time since they last kissed for real. Clark placed his hand on Lana's cheek as he leaned in and at first softly kissed her lips. Lana kissed him back and they began to get more passionate. Both of them kissing like Clark was on red k and Lana was under the control of the Nicodemous flower. They would stay that way until Lana slowly pulled a part.*

Lana: Oh my God, i forgot i have to meet Lex for dinner.

Clark: You better go then.

Lana: But i'd rather stay.

Clark: I want you to stay, but you can't, now go.

Lana: Ok bye.

*She begins to walk away, but then clark pulls her back and kisses her again.*

Clark: I love you.

Lana: I love you too.

*She leaves waving him goodbye.*

*Scene shifts to Lex's Mansion where Lana has just arrived.*

Lex: Hi honey.

Lana: Hey.

Lex: Why are you late?

Lana: Oh, i was just catching up with an old friend.

*That was half the truth, except it was yesterday.*

Lex: How is he?

Lana: He's good, i hear he's back in town to open up a law firm.

Lex: How nice.

Lana: It is.

Lex: So, i was discussing with my travel agent where we could go for our hooneymoon.

*Lana made a weird noise when she heard the word hooneymoon.*

Lex: Lana are you okay?

Lana: Yeah, i'm fine.

Lex: Good, i just wanted to tell you how much you mean to me.

*He places his hand on hers and she reluctanley keeps it there.*

*Clark's smile quickly goes away.*

Lois: Actually, Clark was just telling me what a great day it is today.

Chloe: Clark it's 20 degree out and raining.

Clark: I know, but.....

*Lana walks in.*

Chloe: Hi Lana, what are you doing here.

*Lana's smiling.*

*Forgetting that no one should know they're together. Chloe and Lois look at both of them*

*Nods his head about 20 times.*

Lana: He needs to go through the details of the wedding.

*Chloe says as she's thinking they're lying right to my face.*

Chloe: [Walking toward him] Who was gonna tell me that you and Lana are together.

Chloe: Yeah. I came over to the barn the other night to warn you about something.

Clark: About what?

Chloe: You know, it doesn't matter now. The point is I saw you and Lana in a major lip lock.

Clark: I-I didn't mean--

Chloe: [Getting angry] Didn't what, Clark? Newsflash. You've always been in love with Lana. I tried to deny it, thinking that maybe we could work something out, but it's like fate, Clark. Inevitable, but always surprising when it actually happens.

Clark: I was gonna tell you.

Chloe: Really? Because obviously it was on the top of your to-do list. You know, I can deal with the fact that you guys are together. It hurts, but I was prepared for it. But we just made a promise to be honest with each other, and you didn't have the guts to keep you word!

Chloe: Or was it just that it was too much fun making a fool of me that you couldn't reveal your secret?

*End of Flashback.*

Lois: It will be okay.

*Pats Chloe on the pack. Scene shifts to Clark and Lana going to Clark's apartment.*

Clark: Hurry up.

Lana: I'm coming, geez, i'm not that fast.

Clark: We can't let anyone see us.

*They run into Clark's apartment.*

Lana: That was close.

Clark: A little too close.

Lana: Yeah i know, can't believe i almost slipped up.

Clark: I'll only forgive you, if you make it up to me.

*Puts his arms around her waist.*

Lana: Well, then i guess i'll have to.

*She gives him a little peck on the lips, then it starts to heat up as they begin to french kiss and it becomes deeply passionate.*

Clark: We can't.

Lana: It feels right.

Clark: I don't know what will happen.

Clark: Umm, nothing let's just lay together.

Lana: Fine, take this.

*She kisses him on the lips as he awakes.*

Clark: Wow, i could get use to that.

Lana: I'm sure you could, but we got bigger problems. We slept in.

Clark: Oh crap, what are we going to do.

Lana: I don't know, but i have to get back to Lex's now.

Clark: Ok, go, but meet me later in the day. Say seven O'clock at the Ritz.

Lana: Alright.

*She runs out the door as Clark sits there in shock, but with a grin on his face realizing he just slept with Lana. Even though it wasn't exactly the real thing.*

*Scene shifts to Lex's mansion where Lana tries to walk in quietly.*

Lex: Little late isn't it? Or should i say early?

Lana: Hi Lex, i can explain.

Lex: Good, because i've been waiting to hear it all night long.

Lana: Ok.

*She collects her breath before speaking, making sure to tell him the rigth thing.*

Lana: I went to see a friend last night and we had a few drinks, so i didn't want to drive home. I ended up sleeping at his house.

*Lana thinks to herself, i shouldn't have said his.*

Lex: What friend?

Lana: Just an old friend from Smallville, you don't know him.

Lex: Ok, i trust you, just wanted to know. I have to get to work early today, so i'll see you later.

*He kisses her on the cheek as he walks out the door with a look that hadn't appeared on his face in a year. A look of distrust and evil appeared. When he walked out the door, he took out his cell phone and made a call.*

Lana: Wow, that was close. Now to get ready for tonight.

*Scene shifts to the Daily Planet later in the day. Clark walks in again with a big grin on his face.*

Lois: I guess it's another beautiful day out, eh Smallville?

Clark: Definitly, you just don't like to see me happy.

Lois: Or maybe it's just not at all.

*She grins at him.*

Clark: ha ha, i could say the same.

*She hits him playfully.*

Lois: But you won't.

Chloe: Will you two stop it?

Clark: Only for you Chloe.

*They share a smile as Lois leans close to Chloe and whispers something.*

Clark: Alright, candles check, napkins check, silverware check and sexy clothing check. I'm go to go for tonight.

*Scene shifts to Chloe's apartment, where she and Lois are talking.*

Chloe: I can't shake these thoughts Lois.

Lois: Come on Chloe, let's go and have fun tonight. No more moaning.

Chloe: I don't feel like that, i think i have to meet this friend tonight.

Lois: Don't do this to yourself Chloe.

Chloe: I have to know, one way or another.

*She walks out of her apartment, keys in hand.*

*The Ritz at 7pm.*

Lana: Where is he?

*Clark steps out of the shadows.*

Clark: BOO!

*She jumps up.*

Lana: Clark! DON'T DO THAT!

*She hits him playfully.*

Clark: WOW, you look beautiful tonight.

*They leave in Lana's SUV as another car follows slowly behind them.*

*He puts his hands around her waist and kissing her gently, then more passionately.*

*They resume kissing passionately, until Lana stops and see's what Clark prepared.*

*They sit down after kissing after few times.*

*Scene shifts to outside Clark's apartment where a man stands with a cell phone in hand.*

Man: Yes, i see them together.

Lex: Do you have proof?

Man: Absolutely.

Lex: Bring it to me and you'll get paid.

Man: Ok.

*The man disappears into the night.*

*Moments later there's a knock on the door.*

*He opens the door slightly.*

Clark: Ummm, ahh, yeah sure.

*She walks in slowly, a little taken off guard by the way Clark is acting.*

Chloe: Where's your friend?

Clark: She left.

*Chloe looks at the table of food and nice silverware.*

Chloe: Must have been a special friend.

Clark: Uh, yeah.

*Lana sneezes in the closet she hid in.*

Chloe: What was that?

Clark: Nothing.

*She opens the closet and see's Lana.*

Chloe: SHUT UP CLARK! You two don't care about anyone, but yourself. You have no respect for my feelings or me at all. You two aren't my friends, i don't know you and you mean nothing to me. Now, GET OUT OF MY LIFE.

*Chloe runs out crying, as Clark and Lana stand there horrified and sad.*

Clark: What have i done.

Lana: No, it's what have we done. I better go before we get in more trouble.

Clark: Alright, just call me tomorrow.

*They hug each other tightly, then Lana slowly pulls away.*

Chapter 13 "Sorry":

*Lex's Mansion, Lana's packed and ready to leave.*

Lana: I truly am sorry it had to end this way Lex.

Lex: No you're not, because this is what you wanted, you loved Clark for 5 years now and that will never change. This is the guy who you want to be with.

Lana: You're right, but i didn't want to hurt you like this, i truly do have a special place in my heart for you.

Lex: But it's not good enough is it?

Lana: I guess not.

Lex: You know Lana, i told Clark when i went to see him, that you kept the darkness away. I told him that the only reason i am a good person today, was because of you. Now there is no reason for me not to fulfill my destiny.

*Lana starts to have tears come down her cheek.*

Lana: Please, don't become that person.

*Lex turns away.*

Lana: Lex you have a choice, you are a good person. I know it!

Lex: I don't know who I am.

*He walks away as Lana stands there sad and disappointed as she leaves for her new life.*

*Clark's apartment where Lana's has just arrived with her bags.*

Clark: Hey.

*They hug as both of them try to hide the sadness they feel for their broken hearted friends.*

Lana: What are we going to do Clark? I mean, i just talked to Lex as I was leaving and he's lost. He said he didn't know who he was and that can't be good.

*Clark brings Lana back in closer, embracing her as much as he could.*

Clark: Everything will be fine, we'll make it through this together. We'll always have each other.

Lana: I'm thankful for that, but i also feel like we betrayed them.

Clark: So do I, but we deserve to be happy, we can't keep sacrificing that.

Lana: You're right.

Clark: I'm going to go talk to Chloe.

Lana: Should I come?

Clark: As much as i'd like the team effort, i think i better do this myself.

*He gives her a small smile as he walks out the door.*

*Scene shifts to Chloe's apartment, where Lois is as Clark arrives there.*

Clark: Can i come in?

Lois: I don't think so, i'm not going to let you hurt her again.

*Clark nods, but still comes in slowly.*

Clark: I just came here to say what i have to say, then i'll never talk to you again if you don't want me to.

Chloe: Fine.

*Chloe says this as she wipes her eyes from the tears that filled them.*

Clark: Chloe, I am and have always been in love with Lana. To me, there's no one else for me in the world. I will never feel for any girl what i feel for her.

Chloe: Is this what you came to tell me! I don't want to hear what i already know.

Clark: What i came to tell you is how special you are to me. You are my best friend in the whole world, a friend i would do anything for. A friend who has kept my deep dark secrets and sacrificed her life for them. I can apology a thousand times for what i did, but that wouldn't make up for the pain i have caused you. All i can say is how much you mean to me and that some day i hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me. I love you like my own sister, to me your blood.

*Clark gets up and slowly walks out.*

Lois: Do you think he meant all that?

Chloe: There's not a doubt in my mind he did, but it still hurts.

*Lois places her arm around Chloe and brings her into her chest.*

*Clark's apartment, Clark has just comeback from Chloe's apartment as Lana finishes unpacking.*

Lana: How'd it go?

Clark: I hope it went good, i just told her the truth.

Lana: That's all you can do.

Clark: I still feel bad though, i wish this wasn't so hard on everyone.

Lana: Me too, but sometimes this how it works out. There's nothing you can do.

Clark: I can't help, but think there is.

Lana: And that's why I love you. You're always thinking of ways to help people and make their life better. You've already made one person's life much better.

*She takes his hand and he smiles.*

Clark: Well, that does make me feel a little better.

Lana: It should.

*She smiles at him.*

Clark: So, what are our plans for the future?

Lana: Well, i might need a new job, seeing as how my old one might seen a little uncomfortable. As for where we're going to live, this place seems fine.

Clark: Yeah, but there's one bed......

Lana: I know.

*She looks at him with a small grin on her face.*

Clark; Oh.....No complaints here.

Lana: Didn't think there would be.

Clark: Are you going to talk to Lex about the job?

Lana: I don't know if that's such a good idea considering what happened the last time we talked.

Clark: You're probably right, i'll go.

Lana: You don't have to, i'll go.

Clark: No, it's okay, you should probably talk to Chloe. I don't want there to be comfortableness there as well the next time we meet.

Lana: Ok, good luck.

Clark: You too.

*They share a small kiss before they leave.*

*Scene shifts to Lex's Mansion, where Clark is now at.*

Lex: Well, if it isn't Clark Kent, i wonder what he plans on stealing from me today. I hope none of female maids are on duty today.

Clark: I didn't mean for it to happen this way.

Lex: Off course you didn't, how did you mean for it to happen?

Clark: I meant for it to happen without anyone getting hurt. I truly am sorry.

Lex: I know you are, but it doesn't help. All these years you were in love with her, all these years you held those feelings in and then you let her go. Now when she's marrying me you decide to let your feelings take over and go for it. Why now?

Clark: Because i just couldn't let her slip away, not again.

Lex: I see.

*Clark stares away from Lex.*

Lex: Look at me Clark! How could you do this to someone you call a friend? You betrayed me!

Clark: What was i suppose to do? Let you marry her and forget how i feel about her? I couldn't do that, otherwise i'd be betraying myself.

Lex: I guess we're at a stand still then.

Clark: I guess so. Anyways, i came her to ask if Lana still had a job at your company.

Lex: She stills has a job, if she wants it. I know she loves her job and i wouldn't take that from her.

Clark: Thank you.

Lex: Yeah, now if you don't mind, i have other matters to attend to.

*Clark starts to walk away, but turns around.*

Clark: For what it's worth, i still consider you my best friend.

*Clark leaves as Lex stares through the window, as a single tear falls from his cheek.*

*Chloe's apartment.*

Lana: Chloe?

Chloe: I'm here, wasn't expecting you. I figured you'd be making up lost time with Clark.

Lana: I was more concerned with losing a friend.

Chloe: Oh, well, that's a first.

Lana: Chloe! I have always cared very much about you.

Chloe: Yeah, i could always tell.

*She brushes past Lana.*

Lana: Always thought about not hurting you, remember when Clark asked me out 3 years ago and I asked you if it would be okay with you if i went? Then later that year, Clark and I almost didn't out because I was afraid of hurting you.

Chloe: But that didn't stop you, did it?

Lana: Come on Chloe, what was i suppose to do? I can't just not be in love with him and believe there were times when i wished i wasn't, but I am.

*Pleaeded with her.*

Lana: I won't apologize for being in love with him, i can't.

Chloe: Then why did you come here?

Lana: I came here to save our friendship.

Chloe: Well, you're not doing a good job.

Lana: I'm not getting much help.

Chloe: Did you expect any?

*Lana turns her head in frustration.*

Lana: I guess this was a mistake.

Chloe: Maybe it was.

Lana: Right...

*Lana begins to leave.*

Chloe: It was my mistake thinking we were ever friends.

*Chloe says while in tears and Lana stops, staying there for a couple seconds, but never turning around then leaves..*

*Scene shifts to Clark's apartment, where he is making dinner as Lana arrives. Clark looks at her red face.*

Clark: I'm guessing it didn't go so well.

*Lana talks very slowly and in a whisper.*

Lana: No, it didn't.

*Clark takes her into his arms and places her head in his chest.*

Clark: We'll get through this, i know we will.

Lana: I'm not so sure, i mean both of them were really hurt. We've lost two friends.

*Clark wipes away some of her tears.*

Clark: If our friendship our as strong as i think they are, then i'm sure they can survive this. Otherwise, then they were never what i thought they were.

*Lana just kept her head buried in Clark's chest.*

Clark: Come on, i made us dinner.

Lana: I am kind of hungry.

Clark: Good, because i made a big dinner.

*The sat down and ate, Clark keeping his hand on Lana's quietly reasuring her it would be okay.*

*Scene shifts to Chloe's apartment, where she and Lois are talking.*

Lois: Don't you think you were a little hard on her.

Chloe: No i don't.

*Lois strokes Chloe's hair and gives her a stern look.*

Lois: Chloe, Lana is your friend and sometimes friends can go through hard times, but what makes you friends is the fact that you bounce back from those times.

Chloe: She stole Clark from me.

Lois: She never had to remember, he's in love with her. Neither her nor Clark can change that.

Chloe: So you're taking her side?

Lois: Chloe, i'm always on your side, but i don't want you to look back and regret losing a good friend.

Chloe: When did you get to be so smart Lois?

Lois: Experience, a friend is a special thing and a best friend is even specialer. Sometimes they come once in a lifetime.

*Chloe stares away into a deep thought.*

Lana: I hope so, i really like what i do.

Lex: I know that and i wouldn't want to take that away from you.

Lana: Thanks Lex.

Lex: It's nothing, besides i also know how important you are to LuthurCorp. You keep things going here and run everything smoothly. Not to mention you keep the comsumers happy and spread good faith.

Lana: I appreciate that Lex.

Lex: Yep, just don't forget we all have a business dinner tonight.

Lana: Okay, i'll be there.

Lex: It's at 7, at Luthur Plaza. Oh and bring Clark along.

Lana: Really?

Lex: Yes, really, bring him.

Lana: Thank you again Lex.

Lex: What are friends for?

*He walks out and as he leaves his smile fades.*

Lana: Wow, i didn't expect that.

*Scene shifts to The Daily Planet.*

Clark: Hey guys.

Lois: Hey Smallville.

Chloe: Clark...

*Chloe says without even looking at him as Lois just shrugs her shoulders at Clark.*

Clark: I hope we can get past this and do our jobs.

Chloe: Well...

*Lois interupts her.*

Lois: We are all adults and we can get past this. RIGHT CHLOE!

Chloe: Yeah, i guess.

*Perry comes out his office.*

Perry: Kent, Sullivan, get into my office immediately.

Clark and Chloe: Yes sir.

*They enter Perry's office.*

Perry: I have an assignment for the both of you. I want you two to go to Gotham and follow up a story on Bruce Wayne.

Chloe: Sir, i don't think me and Clark are the right pair to do this.

Perry: That's non sense, you two are the most capable and impressive reporters i have.

Clark: But Sir....

Perry: KENT! What did I tell you about this.

Clark: Yes sir.

Perry: Now make me proud.

*They leave his office.*

Chloe: Geez, isn't this great. Just when i want to be no where near i have to spend the weekend with you.

Clark: Well, maybe it will give us a chance to patch things up.

Chloe: Don't hold you breath Clark.

Clark: I never do.

*He smiles and she gets annoyed.*

*Later in the day, Clark's apartment.*

Clark: Hey honey.

Lana: Hey.

*They kiss as they wrap their arms around each other.*

Lana: How was your day?

Clark: Fine, but it appears i'll be going on a business trip this weekend with Chloe.

Lana: That's good, maybe you'll have a chance to make up with her.

Clark: I hope so, but i'm going to miss you.

Lana: I'm going to miss you too.

*They kiss.*

Lana: Oh, i almost forgot, we have a party tonight to go to. I mean a business party, so get dressed.

Clark: Okay.

*They both get dressed nicely for the party.*

*She steps out in beautiful blue dress, with her hair down.*

Lana: It should be illegal to use that line.

Clark: Very funny.

Lana: Let's go.

*They take each other's hand and leave for the party.*

*Luthur Plaza, all the employees have arrived with their guest, as Clark and Lana pull up in their car.*

Lana: Here we are.

*Clark looks like he's seen a ghost.*

Lana: Clark, what's wrong?

Clark: It's just the last time we were here.....I almost lost you.

Lana: But the point is you didn't and that's all that matters.

Clark: You're right.

*They kiss and then enter Luthur Plaza.*

Lex: I thought you'd guys would never arrive.

*Lex and Clark shake hands.*

Clark: Well you know her, she takes forever to get dressed.

Lana: Clark!

*She slaps him lightly on the shoulder.*

Lex: It's quite alright, why don't we start now.

Lana: Okay.

*Everyone sits down as Lex stays standing.*

Lex: I would like to welcome you all here. We are all here to talk about the future and to celebrate our accomplishments. We have come a long way since i took over as CEO of this company. We have rid ourself of the bad guys title that my father gave us and given us the title of the respectful company, who gives a damn about the people. I could not have done this alone, not without top executive, Lana Lang. Please stand and say a few words Lana.

*Lana stands as Clark cheers for her loudly, so loud she had to tell him to be quiet.*

Lana: Thank you Lex, i am very happy to be a proud member of LuthurCorp. I have worked hard the last year trying to make this company better from top to bottom and i couldn't have done it without all of you. So give yourself a huge round of applause for working so hard, i know i will. Now let's eat, i hope you're as hungry as I am.

*They all clap as she does as well.*

Lana: So, how'd you like my speech Clark.

Clark: I wasn't impressed.

*He said with a big grin, she slaps him on the shoulder.*

Clark: Okay, i loved it.

Lana: That's more like it.

*Suddenly a loud ringing noise fills Clark's head.*

Clark: AWWWWWWW.

Lana: Clark what is it?

Clark: I have to go.

*He kisses her on the head and rushes out, super speeding home.*

Martha: Clark?

Clark: Mom.

*He hugs her.*

Martha: What are you doing here?

Clark: I heard the ringing of the key, where is it?

Martha: In the barn.

*He superspeeds there and it's glowing.*

Clark: Jor-el?

*He superspeeds to the caves and places the key in the slot.*

Clark: What do you want?

Jor-el: The time is coming.

Clark: For what?

Jor-el: Where your destiny will be revealed to you.

*Light fills the cave and Clark superspeeds home to the Kents.*

*Scene shifts back to Luthur Plaza as Lex takes a sit next to a worried Lana.*

Lex: Where'd Clark go?

Lana: I don't know.

*Lex knew that was the truth.*

Lex: Where do you think he went?

Lana: I don't know.

Lex: He's still keeping secrets?

Lana: Yeah, but....

*Lex interupts her.*

Lex: I wonder what could be so bad, that he would keep it from you. Might make you wonder if there's someone else.

Lana: Clark loves me, he would never cheat on me.

Lex: Then why wouldn't he tell you? It must involve a girl or something that would change the way you feel about him.

Lana: No, it couldn't.

Lex: hmmmm.

*Lex gets up and walks away.*

Jonathon: Well, hello son, what's up?

Clark: It's the key, it was ringing in my head during a dinner party i had with Lana.

Jonathon: Sounds like we could possibly have a problem here.

Clark: We do, i was talking to Jor-el and he said the time is coming.

Martha: The time for what?

Clark: He said "the time is coming where my destiny would be revealed to me."

Martha: Your destiny?

Jonathon: Do you know what this could mean, son?

Clark: No, but i'm afraid of what it could mean.

Jonathon: I know you're an adult now son, but whatever happens i want you to know that we'll handle it as a family.

*Jonathon puts his arm around Clark and Martha takes his hand.*

Clark: Thanks.

Jonathon: You don't have to thank us, you're our son and we love you very much.

*They hug.*

Martha: Don't mean to ruin our good moment, but what about Lana? Have you told her yet?

Clark: No, i'm waiting for the right time. You know, when i think both of us our ready or the day i ask her to marry me.

Martha: Well, i trust in the fact that you'll know when it is time to tell her.

Clark: Thanks mom, it's just things are going so good right now between us that it would be stupid of me to mess it up.

*She smiles.*

Martha: I'm happy for you, now i think you should probably get back to her before she starts to worry.

Clark: Alright, i'll keep in touch, bye.

Jonathon: Just remember son, live your life and don't let what happen bother you.

*Clark opens and the door as Jonathon speaks again.*

Jonathon: And son, we love you.

Clark: I love you too.

*Clark superspeeds back to his apartment, where Lana is waiting.*

Clark: Hey.

Lana: Hey.

*He could tell she was worried and a little upset at the same time.*

Clark: Did i tell you how beautiful you looked tonight?

Lana: No, you just said i looked good.

Clark: Well, Lana Lang you look beautiful tonight, even though it's no different than any other day.

*He smiles.*

Lana: Always the charmer, Clark. Now, where were you?

Clark: I was just out getting fresh air, i took a long walk and tried to clear my head. I had a headache, thought i could get rid of it by walking it off.

Lana: Okay, just tell me where you are going next time.

Clark: I will.

*She could tell he was leaving something out, she could always tell when he did that.*

Lana: So, what time do you leave tomorrow.

Clark: Around 5, i'm sorry that you'll be alone for a weekend. I wish i could take you with me.

Lana: Don't worry i'll be fine and eagerly awaiting your return.

Clark: I will always worry about you when i'm not around, just a nervous habit of mine. I can't help but worry about the people i love when i'm not around.

Lana: Well, i'm just glad to be in that catergory of people you love.

Clark: So am I.

*They kiss and go to sleep for the night.*

Clark: This bracelet, it was given to me by a friend. He said i should give it to the one who i love and care about the most.

Lana: Oh Clark, thank you.

*He puts it around her wrist.*

Clark: I have to go now, i love you.

*They kiss passionately, until Chloe comes by and breaks them a part.*

Clark: Sorry, let's go.

*Lana leaves as the Scene shifts to Clark and Chloe on a plane.*

Chloe: Oh, well it's a long plane ride.

*The Plane lifts off toward Gotham.*

*Scene shifts toward LuthurCorp, Lana is at her desk finishing paperwork, when Lex walks in.*

Lex: Hey Lana, how's the work going?

Lana: We should have our projects up and running soon in Metropolis.

Lex: Excellent, so how are you and Clark after what happened last night?

Lana: We're fine, he left today with Chloe on assignment to Gotham.

Lex: Yeah Chloe, i wonder how she's doing handling Clark's secret.

Lana: What?

Lex: You didn't know? Chloe knows Clark's secret, how do you think she's always protecting him?

Lana: Clark never said she knew.

Lex: Maybe he didn't want you to know.

Lana: Why wouldn't he want that?

Lex: I don't know, must have a reason, maybe he figures he can only trust Chloe. I mean, Chloe is his best friend, right? Just like Pete was.

Lana: I don't believe that.

Lex: You should think about it.

*Lex walks out as Lana has a confused look on her face.*

*Scene shifts back to the Plane.*

Chloe: So tell me about Jor-el.

Clark: He said the time is coming.

Chloe: The time is coming? For what?

Clark: Where my destiny will be revealed to me.

Chloe: Wow and i'm guess this has you a little nervous?

Clark: Yeah, my life is good now, i don't want to mess it up with some plan my biological father has for me.

Chloe: Don't worry you'll get through this, it's your life not his.

Clark: I know.

Chloe: So, have you told Lana everything yet?

Clark: No.

*Looks curiously at him.*

Chloe: Do you plan to?

Clark: Yes.

Chloe: Well, considering the message, you better hurry and decide when.

Clark: I don't know, you're probably right.

*The Plane lands 3 hours later and everyone exits this plane.*

Chloe: So this is Gotham.

Clark: Not bad.

*They go up to the front desk.*

Lady: How can i help you.

Clark: Yeah, the name is Clark Kent, i'm from the Daily Planet.

*Lady Checks computer.*

Lady: Alright, I have a Clark Kent here, 1 room correct?

Clark: No, we need two.

Lady: Well, i'm sorry, there's only 1 room left.

Chloe: We'll take it.

Lady: Okay, here are the keys, enjoy your stay.

Chloe: Let's go, i can't believe we're sharing a room. Don't get any ideas Kent.

*She grins at him.*

Clark: Hmm funny you say that, i was going to say the same thing.

Chloe: Very funny Clark.

*They enter their room, a small room with a t.v., desk and one king size bed.*

Chloe: Yep and i got the bed.

Clark: Fine, i better call Lana and give her the number.

*Chloe rolls her eyes.*

Chloe: You've only been gone a couple of hours and you're already calling her. Big surprise.

*He grins and calls her.*

Lana: Hello, LuthurCorp, how can i help you?

Clark: Yes, i would like to talk to my beautiful girlfriend who happens to be the best LuthurCorp employee.

Lana: Hi Clark, did you just arrive?

Clark: Yep and i wanted to give you the number.

*He tells her the number.*

Lana: I got.

Clark: Good, now i have to work, call me later. I love you.

*They hang up.*

Chloe: How is she?

Clark: She's good, not that you would care.

Chloe: Clark, i do care.

Clark: Well, you had a funny way of showing it to her the last time you saw her.

Chloe: I was mad and i had a right to be.

Clark: She didn't steal you from me, she always had me.

Chloe: i know, but it still hurt and i reconize now i was little too hard. I plan on talking to her when we get back.

Clark: Good, that's what i like to hear. Now let's go see Bruce.

*Scene shifts back to LuthurCorp.*

Lex: Who was on the phone?

Clark: You did, i thought you could take a hint by now.

*Lana looks very confused.*

*Lana is in tears as Chloe walks in.*

Chloe: What's she still doing here?

*The Next morning at Wayne Enterprises, Clark and Chloe are walking around.*

Clark: Let's check out this Bruce Wayne fella.

*Bruce Wayne sneaks up behind them.*

Bruce: You don't have to wait long.

*They turn around.*

Chloe: Hey, it's Bruce Wayne.

Bruce: That it is, i take it you're from the Daily Planet.

Clark: We are, my name is Clark Kent and this is Chloe Sullivan.

*They all shake hands.*

Bruce: Nice to meet you, now why don't we step into my office.

Clark: Okay.

*They head into Bruce's huge office.*

Bruce: Ask away.

*They ask Bruce numerous questions and are about finished until Clark ask one last question.*

Clark: I heard you lost your parents in a robbery attempt, how did you recover from that. Off the record.

Bruce: Well Clark, admittly i fought demons for many years, because of that. Until one day, i decided to stop mourning their death and do something about it.

Clark: Do what?

Bruce: Stop things like that from happening to other people. Call it my destiny, to stop the bad guys and i do it through my business. Whether it be through Wayne Enterprises or other ways.

Clark: Thank you for your time, Mr. Wayne.

Bruce: You're welcome, maybe we'll see some of each other before you leave.

Clark: That'd be nice, well anyways, goodbye.

Bruce: Bye Clark and Chloe.

Chloe: Bye.

*They walk out.*

Clark: That was interesting.

Chloe: Sure was, almost like he's a whole different person, then the world sees him as.

*They claim their bags and part ways as Clark sees Lana.*

Clark: Hey, i missed you.

*He hugs her and feels her tightly hugging him.*

Clark: Lana, i'm not sure what we're talking about here.

Clark: Because we had to share a room, there were no more rooms left in the hotel.

Lana: Nothing, i was just caught off guard. I had a bad dream and i just wanted to talk to you.

Clark: You had a bad dream? What about?

Lana: It was just a silly dream about you and Chloe.

Clark: About me and Chloe? I'm guessing we were doing something sexual.

Lana: Yeah, anyways, it was just a dream. I guess it just felt so real.

Clark: I'm sorry i couldn't be there and that i didn't answer the phone.

Clark: As for it feeling so real.

*He kisses her passionately.*

Lana: That's a surprise considering what happen the last time we talked.

Chloe: I know, i was just mad and said somethings i really didn't mean.

Lana: It didn't sound like that, it sounded like you were saying things that had built up inside of you.

Chloe: Lana, i always thought for you as my best friend and like a sister to me. It's just......When i saw you and Clark together again, it brought the worst side of me. It wasn't the first time you did that to me, but i still had no right to say what i said. You are my friend and always will be.

Lana: I'm sorry for the way you found out too. I hope we can just get past everything that happen and still be friends.

Chloe: Off course we can.

*They hug.*

*The Scene shifts to later in the day at LuthurCorp.*

Lex: I want to sell that stock and buy this one.

Secretary: Are you sure?

Lex: Off course i'm sure, i'm Lex Luthur. I don't make mistakes.

Secretary: Okay.

*The Secretary leaves as Lana comes in.*

Lana: Here are the quarterly numbers Lex.

Lex: Thank you Lana.

*He checks them over, clearly impressed.*

Lex: Great work, so how are things?

Lana: Fine, me and Clark are doing great.

Lex: Good to hear considering he spent the night with another girl in a hotel room.

Lana: Lex, that was just Chloe and there were no more rooms left in the hotel.

Lex: What hotel did they stay in?

Lana: I believe it was the Marrot.

Lex: Lana, i have a friend you works at the Marrot, they haven't sold out in months. He sends me weekly reports on how many rooms were taken per day, would you like to see them?

Lana: No, why would Clark lie?

Lex: I don't know, maybe it's just another secret.

*Lana walks away confused and upset.*

Lex: Piece by piece they will tear a part.

*Scene shifts to the Daily Planet.*

Clark: How'd it go?

Chloe: It went good.

Clark: That's great news.

*Lois walks in.*

Lois: What's going on?

Clark: Nothing you need to know.

Lois: Fine, it's not like anything important happens in your life anyways.

*Over the past two weeks Clark and Lana drifted a part. Lana would work late and later, trying to avoid hearing Clark's lies about his secret. When they were home they rarely talked, even kissed.*

*Clark sits at his desk at the Daily Planet as an old friend walks in.*

Clark: Pete?

Pete: Hey Clark.

Clark: What are you doing here?

Pete: Just checking up on you, i was hoping we could have lunch.

Clark: Sounds good.

*They leave and arrive 10 minutes at McDonald's for lunch.*

Pete: So tell me, how are things really?

Clark: Something is wrong.

Pete: What?

Clark: I don't know, i can feel that me and Lana are tearing a part.

Pete: Why? How?

Clark: That's the problem, i don't know. I just can feel it, it's just like she doesn't trust me and feels I can't trust her.

Pete: Maybe she's right or has a reason to be right.

Clark: What do you mean?

Pete: Your secret Clark, you didn't tell her, you told me and Chloe knows. You do the math, you practically told everyone, but her.

Clark: How could she have known that Chloe knew?

Pete: Maybe she put the pieces together, but that doesn't matter, what matters is saving your relationship. You have to tell her.

Clark: I can't, at least not now. I'm still having those nightmares and i can't have her worrying about it. I don't know what Jor-el's plan is for me, but i won't let it hurt her.

Pete: Did you ever to stop think, she's hurting already? Anyways, it was nice seeing you, i have to get back to work.

*Pete walks away, leaving Clark to think.*

Clark: I don't want to be forced to tell her.

*Scene shifts to LuthurCorp, Chloe enters Lana's office.*

Chloe: Hey Lana.

Lana: Hey Chloe.

Chloe: How are things?

Lana: Not too good.

Chloe: Sorry to hear that.

Lana: Me too.

Chloe: I'm guessing it involves Clark.

Lana: It does, i feel like were drifting a part.

Chloe: Why?

Lana: The secrets are just becoming too much, i feel everyone knows but me.

Chloe: Is it, because he told me?

Lana: He told you his secrets?

Chloe: Off course he did, he didn't tell you?

Lana: No.

Chloe: Geez, i would have thought by now he would have finally opened up to you.

Lana: So would I.

Chloe: He must think his secret would show you a side of him you won't like.

Lana: Will it?

Chloe: Maybe, let's just say i don't look at him the same way. Anyways, i got to go, work is hectic lately. Bye.

*Scene shifts to Clark's apartment, where Lana is packing as Pete walks in.*

Pete: Going some where?

Lana: New York.

Pete: New York?

Lana: Yeah, i was offered a job there leading up projects for LuthurCorp. It's a really good job.

Pete: What about Clark?

*She stops packing and turns to him.*

Lana: I don't know about Clark, he hasn't been around. Have you seen him?

Pete: Yeah, he seem a little tied up the last time i saw him. I mean he had a lot on his mind.

Lana: Like what?

Pete: Like how his relationship with the girl he loves could be falling a part before his very eyes.

*Lana looks away and down at the floor.*

Lana: I was wondering the same thing.

Pete: Then you don't know?

Lana: No, well, kind of, it's the secrets.

Pete: Always is, isn't it?

*She nods her head.*

Lana: Yep, i can't understand why everyone seems to know, but me. I've driven myself crazy trying to find the answer to this question. I'm done looking the answers, the best thing to do is get away from the questions.

*Pete nods his head.*

Pete: Are you even going to say goodbye?

Lana: I'm going to leave him a note.

Pete: You think that's the best way to end something as complicated as love?

Lana: No, but i don't really see another way.

Pete: Okay, when are you leaving?

Lana: Tomorrow.

Pete: You need a lift?

Lana: Yeah, i was going to ask Chloe, but i didn't even tell her i was leaving yet. So can you?

Pete: Sure.

Lana: Thanks, pick me up at 1pm.

Pete: Okay, bye.

*Pete walks out as Lana starts to pack again, then notices a picture of her and Clark.*

Lana: What happen to those people?

*She starts to cry and then gently places the picture in her bag.*

*Scene shifts back to LuthurCorp, where Lex and Clark are talking.*

Lex: She's leaving tomorrow.

Clark: I don't believe that.

Lex: But here's the proof.

*Lex takes out a copy of Lana's ticket to New York.*

Lex: Look.

*Clark looks at with a pained expression.*

Clark: She won't leave.

*Trying to convince himself that more than Lex.*

Lex: Face it, she's already gone and there's nothing can do about it.

*Hangs there beaten.*

Lex: You know it too.

Chapter 28:

*The Next day, at LuthurCorp, where Clark is imprisioned.*

Clark: I need....to....get....out of here.

*Clark was fading fast, his exposure to the green k was killing him. Thankfully he had spent enough time on earth to gain enough energy to stay alive.*

Clark: I have.....to get....the kryponite off me.

*Clark gathered all his strength, every single ounce of energy he could and tried to use his heat vision to burn the tape. It didn't work.*

Clark: Come on!

*He tried again, but nothing.*

Clark: For Lana, for Lana.

*He tried one last time, with the all power in his body and he did it. The tape burned and the kryponite fell to the floor.*

Clark: Yes!

*This relieved Clark for a couple seconds, but he still needed to get rid of it. Luckly, there was a ventilation thing on the ground for air. Lex must have put it there so he could breath in this room. He need to use his heat vision to melt the bars on it, so he could slip the kryponite down it.*

Clark: One more time, for Lana.

*It work and now all he needed to do was kick the kryponite down it.*

Clark: Here it goes, ah!

*He kicked it down, but now laid there motionless after using all his energy to try and get rid of the kryponite.*

*Scene shifts to Lana's apartment, where Lana is writing a goodbye later to Clark.*

Dear Clark,

I don't know where you are or why you left, but I do know that i need to leave. The secrets and lies have become too much for me and i don't know who i can trust anymore. It seems the only person who has been honest with me is Lex. That makes me upset, because i wanted you to be honest with me. Not because i wanted to know your secret, but because i wanted us to spend the rest of lives together. I didn't want this to become just another relationship, I wanted this to be my last relationship.

*She's crying.*

I never wanted to be with anyone else, but you. Now i know that it can never be, because we can't be honest with each other and trust each other. I don't really blame you, i actually blame myself. I wonder everyday what's wrong with me, that makes you keep things from me. I know you're special and maybe you think i can't handle it. If you do, then it's my fault for making you think that way. I wish i could change that and i tried to, but i couldn't.

*She wipes her eyes.*

Remember when you told me that you weren't the right guy for me? Well, you were wrong, it's just that i'm the wrong woman for you. Goodbye Clark.

Love, Lana.

*She folds the note and puts it on a table, then just sits there waiting for Pete.*

*Two hours later, Pete arrives.*

Pete: You ready?

Lana: Yep.

Pete: Okay, let me help you with your bags.

*He picks up her bags and they head to the car.*

Lana: Thanks Pete.

Pete: Alright, let's go.

*They start driving toward the airport.*

Pete: You sure you know what you're doing?

Lana: I do.

*Scene shifts to LuthurCorp, Lex walks in and see's Clark on the floor.*

Lex: How'd he escape?

*Clark comes to and gets up.*

Clark: WHERE IS SHE?

Lex: She's gone!

*He grabs him by the throat.*

Clark: You better pray she isn't.

Lex: It's too late.

Clark: Only for you.

*He throws Lex against the wall knocking him out and he superspeeds to the apartment.*

Clark: LANA? LANA?

*He see's the letter and opens it.*

Clark: Our last relationship? So did I.

*He reads on.*

Clark: She blames herself? How could i make her think that? I'm the idiot, it wasn't your fault Lana, it was mine.

*He reads her last paragraph.*

Clark: You are right the right woman for me Lana, i know it. I won't let you leave.

Chapter 29:

*Lana and Pete arrive at the airport.*

Pete: We're here.

Lana: Okay.

Pete: Are you sure this is what you want?

Lana: No, but it's what i have to do.

Pete: Alright.

*They get out of the car and Pete gets Lana's bags.*

Lana: Thanks Pete.

Pete: Anytime, just promise you'll visit.

Lana: I'll try.

*They hug and at the same time Clark superspeeds to airport, he see's them through the crowd on the same street.*

Clark: What is Pete doing here?

*Pete leaves, as it started to rain and Lana saw Clark. They stood there staring at each other, like time had froze and it was only them. Rain coming down on each of them, both of them searching for the words, but neither coming up with anything to say. Until Lana whispered something.*

Lana: Bye.

*She gave him one last look and walked into the airport. Only the rain that had fallen on her face covered up her tears. Clark just stood there, not moving, it was like he knew Lex was right. Maybe he was beaten. It seemed like all his friends had betrayed him and set a trap to destroy his life. Now Lana was leaving and she didn't even come to him, when she saw him.*

Clark thought to himself: Why didn't i go after her? Why did i just stand here? Was she right about what she said in her letter? Did i not believe her or maybe worse, not believe in us.

*Then the ringing began in his head and voice spoke.*

The time is now!

Clark: AHHHHHH.

*He superspeed to the Kent's house, where he got the key and to the caves. When he got to the caves he put the key in.*

Jor-el: The time is now my son.

Clark: Time for what?

Jor-el: Time for you destiny to be revealed to you.

Clark: What is it?

Jor-el: You my son, will go the FOS to train and then you will return to rule.

Clark: Rule? I don't want to rule, I WON'T.

Jor-el: You must my son, otherwise this world will destroy itself with greed and corruption.

Clark: So, you want me to protect them?

Jor-el: It's the same thing my son, kings ruled over their city with power for the good of the city. To protect the city from itself and do what's right for the people. That my son is what you will do.

Clark: I'm not ready.

Jor-el: I know my son, that's why you will go the FOS. There you will gain the knowledge and power to do what can here to do.

Clark: I have a life, i just can't leave it.

Jor-el: Must my son, for the good of the world and the ones you care about.

*He thinks about Lana.*

Clark: I can't leave now!

Jor-el: You must!

Clark: How will i get to the FOS?

Jor-el: Through the caves wall.

Clark: Can i say goodbye to my parents?

Jor-el: Yes, but you must hurry.

Clark: Okay.

*He superspeeds out of the cave to the Kent's house.*

Jonathon: Hey son, what's up?

Clark: I have to go.

Jonathon: Where? Why?

Clark: It's time for me to fulfill my destiny.

Jonathon: Now? Clark you.....

Clark: I know, but it's something i need to do.

*Martha comes in.*

Martha: You can't go.

Clark: I have to, for the sake of the world.

*Jonathon nods his head and takes Martha's hands.*

Jonathon: We have been dreading this day for a long time now, but we knew it was coming. Do what you came to do son and make us pround.

Clark: I will.

Jonathon: We love you.

Clark: I love you too.

*They hug and then Clark goes back to the cave.*

Clark: I'm ready.

Jor-el: Okay my son, so begins your journey.

*Clark is sucked through the walls and ends up in the FOS.*

Chapter 1 "A hero is born":

Six Years Later

Clark is sleeping in the FOS, when the voice of Jor-el is heard. "Kal-el my son, it is time to fulfill your destiny. You are now ready."

*Clark awakes slowly, a little confused and tired from his time here.*

"How do you know I'm ready? Clark asked in nervous manner. "Kal-el, you have developed all of your powers and you now share my knowledge. I have prepare you as much as I can, now you must leave and do what is right for mankind." Clark stood there nervous, not knowing if he truly was ready to face the world, especially if he knew he was going to do it alone. His mind and body was ready, but his heart was not. He knew Jor-el couldn't understand that.

*Clark pauses.*

"I am ready" said Clark slowly and unsurely. "My son, you will do great and make us proud. If you ever need guidance, i will always be here." Those words were really good for Clark to hear, they reminded him of what his other parents told him. Yes, he now considered Jor-el his father and Lara his mother. The way they guided him made Clark appreciate them almost as much as his real parents. "I will make you proud." That was the last thing he said to Jor-el.

*Clark flies out of the FOS and returns home.*

"Mom, Dad, I'm home!" Martha hears this and runs downstairs. "Clark! Oh i missed you so much." She hugs him very tightly. "I missed you too mom, i'm so happy to see you again." They continue to embrace, then Martha slowly pulls away. "Mom, where's dad?" Tears start to filll Martha's eyes. "Mom?" Clark's starting to get emtional as well. "Where is he?" Martha opens her mouth slowly. "Clark, your father died."
Tears rolling down his cheeks. "How did he die?" Martha wipes his tears, "Clark he died of natural causes, nothng that was your fault."

"Clark's nodding, even though he believes she's only saying that for his own good."

Clark slowly talks again, "When?". "About a year ago, we had the funeral right here. Lois and Chloe came." Clark nods his head, "How are Lois and Chloe?". "Lois and Chloe are fine, they're still working at the Daily Planet together." Clark smiles knowing they're okay and doing good, but then realizes his mother didn't say Lana came. "What about Lana, did she come?"

*Martha takes a step back, knowing what's going on through her son's head. How could she tell him?*

"Clark, Lana and Pete came." Raged filled in Clark's eyes, knowing how Pete Betrayed him. He can still feel the green meteor rock hitting him in the back of the head and him hugging Lana, like she was his own. "Wait, did you say Lana and Pete, meaning they're together?" Martha shakes her head unsure of wait to say. Not wanting to tell him the truth she knows he needs to know. "Clark, Lana and Pete are married."

*Clark didn't know how to react, he was fill of rage and sadness at the same time.*

"I'm so sorry, Clark, I know you loved her." He did, with all his heart, but if she loved Pete, then he's happy for her. At least that's what he tried telling himself, the only thing that kept him from ripping Pete's head off the next time he see's him. "The past is the past mom, i need to concentrate on the future. I'm going back to Metropolis and I need your help."

*Martha knew Clark was in great pain now. His hero, his father was dead and the girl of his dreams married to his former best friend.*

"Alright son, how can i help." Clark slowly opens his mouth trying to gather himself and keep his composture. "I need a disguise and another one." Martha isn't understanding. "Mom, I want to be Clark Kent and Superman." Martha is now even more confused, "Superman." "Yes mom, it's who i'm calling myself, I want to have an S on my suit with a red cap, because I can fly." Martha is trying to gather all this information. "You can fly." Clark raises his eyebrows as if it's no big surprise. "Yes, I can fly, I learned to fly in the FOS."

*Martha pauses before speaking.*

"Okay, so you want a suit with an S on it and a red cap. Anything else?" Clark smiles, knowing he's asking a lot. "Yeah, in fact there is, do you still have my old glasses, I want to use them as a disguise." Martha is starting to understand. "I can see you're still a little confused mom, so let me explain. I want Clark Kent to be the Daily Planet reporter, with glasses and a shirt as well as tie. He will seem weak and everything superman isn't. I want superman to be me with my powers, saving people. I don't want anyone to know who I am or know they're the same person." Martha smiles, "I understand, it may take a while to make the suit, so why don't you stay here for a day or two." Clark smiles and hugs her. "Mom, I would love to." Martha smiles back, "Great, i'll make dinner, why don't you catch on the times and watch t.v."

*Clark walks over to the couch and turns on the t.v.*

"Today, President Luthur will making is induction speech at the White house today. He will be accompanied by his Vice President Mr. Ross and his wife Mrs. Ross." Clark's eyes widened. "MOM!"

Chapter 2:

Martha ran to Clark, "What is it?". Clark points to the t.v., where he see's Lex there and there's a caption at the bottum reading: The New President Of the United States. "Is there something else you'd like to tell me mom?" Martha looks at him and then nods, "Yeah, Lex ran for President this past year and won, I voted for the other guy. I wanted to tell you this later, I knew you already had a lot on your plate to deal with. Clark then looks at the t.v. again, this time at Lana. She looks the same to him, same beautiful eyes, long black hair and thin lips. Then he looked down her hand, which was placed in Pete's hand. Time stopped for Clark at this moment, feeling his heart break like glass.

*Clark snaps out of his trance.*

"I should have never left." Martha looks down at him with simpathy, "You had." Clark shakes his head, "I should have never left her or you guys." Martha takes his hand and with her other hand places it on Clark's cheek. "Listen to me Clark, don't ever believe it was your fault what happen with Lana or your father. You had to leave, you did it to for them and the rest of the world." Clark stares down at the ground, in his head he knew she was right, but in his heart he didn't. Martha turns to Clark with a smile, "Why don't you go the loft, clear your head. I'm going to make dinner." Clark sighs, then remembers something, "So mom, what did you tell people I went?" Martha's trying to remember, "I think we said you went traveling around the world. For all we know it probably was true." They share a small laugh, then Clark replies, "That's fine, i'll go to the loft now." He gives her another reasurance smile that he's okay, then leaves.

*Clark enters his loft.*

"Just like i left it." He walks up the stairs very slowly, remembering all the times he spent up here thinking about everything. He thought of the day he first found out he wasn't from earth, his dad told him they have his spaceship in the storm celler. Clark kind of giggles at that, he also remembers his first kiss here with Chloe. Clark smiles at that, thinking how funny Chloe was about it. The smile disappears from his face as he remembers the last time he and Lana were up here.

*Flashback.*

Lana: Because that guy's name was Clark Kent.

Clark: What?

Lana: I thought I was falling for that guy, when i was just in love with Clark I knew, not him.

Clark: The same thing happened to me, just with another Lana.

Lana: So, what does that mean?

Clark: That we love each other, but it doesn't change anything.

Lana: Why can't we be together?

Clark: My life is too dangerous for you to be in.

Lana: I don't accept that.

*Lana is on the verge of tears.*

Clark: We have to.

Lana: Why?

Clark: Because sometimes in life to protect the one you love the most in the world, you have to give up the thing you want the most in the world.

*She gets up, tears flowing down her cheek and starts to walks down the stairs.*

Lana: It doesn't have to be this way.

Clark: I know.

*A tear rolls down from each of clark's eyes.*

*End of flashback.*

"Why did I let her go?" That question had been burning inside of Clark for six years now. He didn't know how to answer it or make it go away. Clark figured it was just something he would have to leave with. It was then he knew he would have to start his life again. Life is different now, former friends betrayed him, his dad was dead and the girl of his dream was married. His destiny was revealed to him and he would fulfill it.

*The Next morning.*

Clark didn't sleep much, he walked down the stairs of his childhood home. Just like he had done a million times before, but for the last time day. "Hey mom", he said with a smile. Martha turned to him with a small smile, knowing he was leaving for good today. Jonathon had always been there to comfort her at times like these, but not this time and she knew she had to be strong for Clark. "Hi Clark, everything is ready and I even found your old glasses. She hands them to Clark and he tries them on. "Wow, they fit pretty good." Martha handed him his breakfast, "Here you go, promise me you'll eat before you go." Clark kissed his mom on the cheek, "I'm going to miss you very much mom and I don't want you to hesitate to call me. If you need anything, I mean that mom, don't be afraid to call." She smiles genuinely, "I won't." Clark finishes his breakfast, then embraces his mom tightly, take his things and waves goodbye.

*Clark walks out of the house and then notices Jonathon's grave.*

The grave reads, "Jonathon Kent, Loving Husband, Father and a great friend." Clark couldn't help but stop and look at the grave. He had seen it last night, but knowing he was leaving for good, he had to say goodbye to his dad. Clark knelt down, "Dad, i'm so sorry i wasn't here when you passed. I just wanted to tell you, that I could have never become what I am today without you or mom. I am going to make you proud."

*Clark then flies away to Metropolis.*

Chapter 3:

Clark had arrived in Metropolis an hour ago. He kind of felt overwelmed by it. He knew for the first time he was alone. No dad to encourage, no Lana to take his hand. He was alone, to fulfill a destiny that he might be ready for and to save a city that had hurt him in the past. Clark bought a small apartment right the middle of Metropolis, it was a small two room apartment. It's not like he needed a big place, but he was use to it. Another sign that his life was completely different. Clark also knew he would need a job. "Well, i'm good at two things and saving lives isn't a job. At least not a job I could get paid for, so back to the Daily Planet it is."

*He walks out, preparing himself. He puts on his suit and his glasses. While he also combs his hair, wanting there to be no similarities between Clark and superman.*

Lois and Chloe are sitting at their desk, working on another story. They have enjoyed success at the Daily Planet for six years, they are both single and share an apartment. Chloe had been scared more than Lois at the lost of Clark though, she was still in love with him. She tried to move on, but couldn't. "Hey Chloe, what are you doing tonight?" Chloe looks up from her work? "I don't know, probably stay home for the night, watch t.v." Lois looked encouragingly at Chloe, "Why don't come out with me? We can go a movie or a club?" Chloe shook her head, "Nah, i'm alright, but thanks." Then Clark walked in, glasses on him, in a suit and his combed hair." Chloe and Lois turned around to see him, they locked shocked.

"Clark is that you?" Chloe said almost stumbling on her words. Clark smiled, the same Kent smile that had gave Chloe chills all the years in high school. She ran up to him and hugged him tightly. "Oh Clark, where have you been? I missed you so much." Clark laughed a little, "I've been all round the world and i missed you too." Clark then turned to Lois, "Hey Lois." She smiled at him and said "Hey Smallville or should i say world traveler." Clark and Lois shared a smile, then Clark spoke, "Think I can get my job back here?". Los and Chloe then shared a scared look, "We don't know." They said at the same time. Clark gave a determinded look, "Well, it's now or never. Might as well as try." Lois and Chloe wished him luck and then he went into Perry's office.

"What is this? Is it a ghost, named Clark Kent?" Perry answered aroused by Clark's appearence six years after he left. Clark took a deep breath then began, "I would like my job back." Perry laughed at this, "Why should I give a job to someone who walks out on it?" Perry asked angrily, Clark quickly responded. "Because you owe me one, remember?" Perry smiled, "I paid you back by giving you this job." Clark shaked his head, "No you gave me this job, because i'm good." Perry grinned at him, "Alright Kent, you got me there. I'll give you another chance, take the desk across from Lois Lane." Clark and Perry shaked hands, "Thanks Perry, i won't let you down." Perry nodded, "I won't suppose you will."

Clark walked smiling out of Perry's office, "I'm guessing it went well, Clark." Chloe said returning his smile. "It did Chloe and i actually get the honor of having my desk across from Lois." Lois sighed with a grin, "I knew I would end up across the desk of the most bumbling reporter on the masthead." Chloe giggles, Clark replies, "Well, if it's any consolation, I thought i'd end up next to the most annoying reporter on the masthead." Lois punches Clark playfully, Chloe giggling harder. "You two are funny, i've missed the banter between you two."

*The scene shifts to the White House where Pete and Lex are celebrating.*

Lex holds a glass of scotch in his hand, "To our victory and a new era." They click glasses and drink. Pete then speaks, "I had no doubts either, with your numerous connections and my people personally it was a lock." Lex then reminds Pete, "Don't forget about your wife, she played a part as well." Pete nods his head proudly, "Yes she did, i really scored it big there." Lex and Pete laugh, then Pete says, "But i do love her." Lex eyes become cold, "She is merely a piece in our ultimate plan." Pete nods kind of sadly, "She's special Lex." Lex stares at him, "Pete, you remember why we did all this? She is here to take him down, if he ever resurfaces." Pete and Lex share a nod. Pete then leaves.

*Pete enters a big room, Lana is sitting near the window looking out.*

Pete walks to her, placing an arm on her shoulder. "How you doing?" She looks at him, "I'm fine." She then turns to the window again. Pete turns to her again, "You look like you're waiting for something." Lana slowly replied, "Maybe I am." Pete looked kind of shocked, but mad at the same time. "What are you waiting for Lana?" She looked back at him again, "Nothing, I was just day dreaming." Pete looked worriedly at her again, then left. Lana continued looking through the window, then down at her arm. Looking on the object placed on her wrest, smiling and tearing up at the same time.

Chapter 4:

Later that night, Clark laid quietly in his bed. Still trying to come to grips with his new life, still questioning if he was ready yet. All of a sudden he heard a scream. "SOMEONE HELP ME." Clark took off his clothes exposing his suit and then flew to heard he heard the scream.

Lois was being chased by five men. They finally caught up to her, took her purse and were trying rape her. She tried fighting them off, but one of the men pointed a gun at her head and she stopped fighting.

Then out of no wher Superman appeared, "Get your hands off her." The man with the gun stood up, "Back off hero, unless you want a bullet in your head." Superman came closer, "Get away from here, i'm not going to ask again." The man then shoot Superman until he ran out of bullets, all of them fell to the ground after they hit Superman. All five men stood up in terror, "What are you?" Superman didn't respond, he just ran up to the guys and tossed all of them. He then look at Lois and picked her up. "Are you okay? You don't look like the type that usually needs saving." Lois smiled at him, "Thanks and you're right I don't." Lois picks up her purse and when she turns around he is gone.

*Superman quickly returns to his apartment.*

"Wow, that was pretty easy and she didn't even reconize me." He grinned widely, "Damn I'm good." He began to strut around his apartment, until he came to the picture on his table. "Dad, I am making you proud." He smiled and tried to get some sleep on his rock of a bed.

The next day, Clark walked into the Daily Planet and it was total chaos. Everyone was running around the place like animals who were just let out of the zoo. Clark pushed his way to his desk, "Lois what's going on?" Clark kind of already knew, but didn't want anyone to know that. Lois turned to him annoyed, "Geez Smallville, the biggest story of the year and you come in late. Figures.* Clark smiled, "So what's up?" Lois turned to him again, "We have a new hero in Metropolis, "His name is....ah...We don't know his name, but he wears an S on his chest." Clark looked surprised, "What hero?" Lois again got annoyed, "The one who saved me from five creeps last night. Plus, he was kind of hott, in his tights and all." Clark blushed and took a look at the front page of the newspaper.

The headline wrote, "New Hero in Town, show a dark haired man with a cape and an S on his chest." Clark giggles, "What's so funny Smallville?" Lois was getting a little upset, "A guy wearing tights and a cape." Chloe chimed in, "Hey, I think he looks sexy."
Clark blushed again, good thing they weren't paying much attention to him. Lois turned to Chloe, "He does, doesn't he?" Clark looked at Lois, "Do you have a crush Miss. Lane?" Lois playfully punched Clark, "Off course not." Clark laughed, "Probably for the best anyways. All men are afraid of you anyways." Lois smacked Clark again, "See, you proved my point." Chloe giggled as they continued their work.

*Scene turns to the White House.*

Pete walks quickly into Lex's office. "We have a problem." Lex has he chair turned away from Pete. "Lex, i think he's back. Look at the Daily Planet front page." Lex chair slowly turns around, "I know he's back, i'm just trying to find out what he's up to and the best way to take him down." Pete smiled, knowing Lex was good at this, "So what is our plan? Are we going to Metropolis?" Lex grinned, "Off course we are, I'm not going to sit here and let him have all the fun in Metropolis. That just wouldn't be right of me." Pete begins to walk out and then stops, "Should we bring Lana." Lex thought about this, weighing the advantages and disadvantages, "Bring her, we can always use her." Pete gave him a nod and went to he and Lana's room in the White House.

"Lana? Are you in here?" Lana walked out of the bathroom. "I'm right here, what's going on?" Pete walked up to her, "We're going to Metropolis, there's some business we need to take care of." Lana looked surprised, "But we just got here." Pete smiled, "I know, don't worry, we'll be back." Lana shrugged, "Okay, when are we leaving?" Pete replied, "We're leaving tomorrow. We'll be talking the private plane, shouldn't be that long of a ride." Pete kissed her on the cheek and then left the room. Lana sat on her bed, then eyed the paper on the nightstand. Lana read, "The Daily Planet, New Hero in Town." Lana stared at the picture of Superman. "A new hero? Is it my hero?" She continued staring at the picture, trying hard to find a reason why it could be him. Then she just shook her head, "He's gone." She then laid her head back on the bed, trying not to remember, because the past was just like a painful cut that wouldn't stop hurting.

Chapter 5:

*Metropolis City Bank, later that night.*

Lois walked up to the booth, she need to cash her weekly pay check. The guy in the booth isn't paying attention, "Hey buddy." Lois said sharply, the guy turned around and smiled. Lois gave a week smile back, "I would like to cash this check." Just then, four men come into the bank, "EVERYONE GET DOWN, THIS IS A STICK UP." People start to scream and get down on the floor, the guy in the booth dives down. Lois giggles, "Way to play the hero buddy." One of the men, grabs Lois's arm, "Get down lady or get shot." Lois lays down slowly showing no fear.

At this time, Clark is walking down the street. He had thought it would be a good idea for him to walk around and make sure there was no trouble. As he is walking around the corner he notices the city bank. Nothing is partically out of place, but he swore he could hear a man screaming. So he uses his super hearing and hears the robbers. "I need this was a good idea." He runs off to the nearest alley and changes.

*Back at the bank.*

"Hurry up and gives us the money. You keep stalling and you'll end up with a bullet in your head." The people in the bank go faster, stuffing the money into bags. Lois turns to the robbers, "You don't have anything else better to do with your time, then rob banks?" She smirks at them and one of the robbers turns to her. "You know, when the police come, we'll need a hostage. You just volunteered for that position." Lois agains shows no fear, "Listen buddy, my dad is a five star general. You lay one hand on me and you'll get the chair." The robber than picks her up and places the gun at her head. "Well, if we're going to die anyways, we might as well take you with us." Lois's eyes close in fear.

Superman comes crashing throw the doors, "Put your guns down, now! All the robbers turn to him and point there guns toward him. "Well, if it isn't the new hero in town. Eat lead." They all shoot him and the bullets bounce off. "I'll ask you again, put the guns down." The men keep firing and then he superspeeds to three of the men. He throws them up against the wall, knocking them out.

"Alright superman, you may be bulletproof, but she isn't." He shoots at Lois, "NO" he sreams. Then thinks quickly, he uses his heat vision to stop the bullet. The robber turns to him in horror, "What are you?" Superman grabs the robber and knocks him out.

All the people in the bank cheer. Lois looks up at superman, "You're two for two." Superman smiles, "This is what I do. If you ever need me, just call and i'll be there." Lois looks at him with admiration as he flies away.

*The next day at the Daily Planet.*

Clark walks in again a little late. Chloe smiles and shakes her head at him, "Why is it with you and lateness Clark?" Clark grins, "You know me Chloe, I just like to make an entrance, that's all." Perry White, then walks out of his office.

"Listen up everyone, our phones have been ringing off the hook all day long. Everyone wants to know more about this superman guy. So until we find out more about him, everyone's assignment is the same. To find out who superman is and why he's here. Oh and one more thing the President and Vice President have arrived at Metropolis an hour ago. They are staying at Metropolis's best hotel. Ms. Sullivan I want you to work on that story as soon as possible." Perry walks back into his office.

Almost ignoring everything Perry said, Chloe turned to Clark wondering if he knew about everything. "Umm, Clark, do you know about Lex, Pete and Lana." Clark face turns sour at thought of Pete and Lana. "Yes, i heard Chloe." Chloe puts her hand on Clark's shoulder, "If you need to talk, i'm always her for you." Clark puts on a small smile, "Thanks Chloe." Chloe gives him a reasuring look, "I think I'll get on that story now, but remember to call me if you want to talk." Clark nods his head, then Chloe leaves.

Lois rushes in shortly after Chloe leaves. "Stupid alarm clock, I need i shouldn't have gone so cheap." Clark isn't paying attention to her, Lois continues anways. "Oh well, that doesn't matter. What does matter, is that superman appear again and saved me again. There's something about him, that separates him frome everyone else. I really want to interview him." Lois now notices Clark isn't paying attention. "I guess you heard who's back." She looks down at him sypathically, "If it's any consolation, I always thought you two were good together." Clark tries to smile.

"So did I." He said in a small whisper.

Chloe drove up to the hotel. She hated Lex and Pete. It was so hard for her to feel that way. She had thought of Pete as her brother, but after what he did to Clark and Lana, she couldn't stand him. Not to mention what he said during their last conversation.

*Flashback.*

One year earlier

*Pete stood in his tux, preparing for his wedding when Chloe walked in. She was only there for Lana.*

Chloe: How could you do this?

*He turns to her.*

Pete: Do what?

Chloe: Marry Lana, she doesn't love you, you know that.

Pete: She does Chloe, then why is she here?

Chloe: Because Clark is gone.

Pete: She didn't love Clark, why do you think she left him?

Chloe: She did, but why do you think she came back? She left for a week, came back realizing she made a mistake, but he was gone. Then there was good old Pete to pick on the pieces, how did you ever yourself his friend?

Pete: I did what I had to.

Chloe: How could you turn your back on Clark like this?

Pete: He turns his back on me years before this. He made me his shadow, made me feel like nothing. Put his secret on my shoulders, he was no friend to me.

*Chloe stares at him with rage.*

Chloe: You know that's not true. Clark was your best friend, he was always there when you needed him the most. He would never hurt you and always protected you, just like he did to me.

Pete: Clark was a freak and i'm glad he's gone.

*Pete said coldly.*

Pete: If he were here, I'd look at him straight in the eye and shove the fact in his face that I was stealing the girl he loved from him.

*Chloe couldn't believe how cold he was.*

Chloe: I don't believe you, i feel like i don't even know you any more. What has Lex done to you?

Pete: He showed me the light, something I wish you'd see.

Chloe: Don't worry I have and see things clearer than ever. I hate everything you and Lex stand for. So, if you see me again, you walk the other way.

*She begins to walk out and then turns around.*

Chloe: He'll be back one of these days and that will be the day you get taken down.

*She walks out.*

*End of Flashback.*

Chloe walked into the hotel, asked for the room number and walked to their room.

She knocked on the door and Lana opened it. "Chloe!" They hug, "What are you doing here?"

"I came to ask the President and Vice President some questions." She hated saying their names, so she just used their titles to refer to them.

"Come in Chloe, they're in a meeting now, but should be out soon." Chloe looked at Lana curiously, wondering if she knew Clark was back. That was the question Chloe had been asking herself the whole way here, should she tell Lana or not?

*Chloe took a deep breath.*

"Lana i think there's something you should know." Lana looked at her curiously, "What?" Chloe took another breath, "Clark is back." Lana looked at her in shock and with tears forming her eyes, "He's back?" Chloe nodded her head. So many thoughts were going through Lana's head.

"Does he know about me and Pete?" Chloe nodded. Lana didn't know how to react, she stood there motionless.

"Maybe you should go see him." Chloe said optimistically. "What would I say? Hi Clark, it's been six years and I'm still in love with you, but i'm married." Lana said sadly. Chloe put her arm around Lana, "You have to start some where."

Lex and Pete walk in the room. Lex sees Chloe, "Well if it isn't Chloe, what brings you here?" Chloe looks up at them coldy, "I'm here to do my job." She then turns to Lana, "Can i speak to them in private?" Lana nods her head and begins to walk out. "Lana, it was really good to see you and remember what I said." Lana leaves.

Chloe agains turns to Lex and Pete, "So i know why you are here, but let me ask you why, so you can BS the public on why you're are." Pete and Lex smile, Lex answers with a grin, "You know why we're here?" Chloe nods, "Because you think Clark is Superman." Pete turns to Lex, "See I told you she was smarter than you gave her credit for."

"Cut the crap, both of you, what do you think you're going to do." Lex goes right up into Chloe's face, "We're going to destroy him, once and for all." Chloe's face turned to angry and fear, "You'll never be able to destroy him." Lex and Pete laugh, then Pete responds.

"Yes we will, because unlike us, he cares about the people, especially certain people." Pete looks in the direction of Chloe and where Lana walked out. Chloe looked in horror, "You wouldn't."

"We would Chloe." Lex said very coldly. "Now you said you have questions? Ask them and get out before you go too far." Chloe gulped and ask her questions then left.

OH GOD!!! lex and pete are hella cold!! I'm glad Chloe talked Pete off in the flashback!! If I were Chloe and Lex came up in my face I'd sock him! I don't care if he's the president! he's just a cold hearted, no feeling, evil bas** along with Pete!

Chapter 6:

*Lois's apartment that night.*

"Ok girl, get yourself under control. You look great and have everything set up for his arrival." Lois was wearing a nice blue dress, she set up a table with drinks on her porch, with her pad and pencil there. She wanted to interview superman and impress him at the same time. "Now, all he said I needed to do was call, right? Here goes nothing.

"SUPERMAN! SUPERMAN." She yelled as loud as she could.

*10 minutes later.*

Superman still didn't arrive and Lois began to walk back to her apartment, when he arrived.

"You called?" He said smiling, while floating right above her. She smiled widely, when she saw him. "I did call, I wanted to interview you."

He grinned, "And here i thought you were in trouble or something." He folded his arms pretending to be angry. Lois looked away kind of embarassed.

"Sorry about that, I just wanted to talk to you." Lois says with a small blush. Superman nods, "It's okay, I suppose I do need someone to tell my story. Lois smiles and they both sit down.

"So, where you from." Lois said eagerly.

"I'm from a planet called Krypton."

Lois looked shocked, "Wow, does this planet still exist? Also how did you get here?" Superman really had to think about answering the last question, not wanting to give anything away about his past.

"No, the planet was destroyed years ago and I got here the same way I got to your apartment. I flew." He said with a small smile.

"What other powers beside speed, strength, flying and shooting fire from your eyes do you have? Oh you're also imprevious to pain."

"Well, I also have x-ray vision, ice breath and it gets complicated from there." He said trying not to sound cocky.

"Wow, you're really something, aren't you?" They both laughed, "That's one way of describing me."

"I guess another big question is, why are you here?" Lois said very curiously.

Superman remembered everything Jor-el had told him regarding that question and he could now answer it with ease. "I'm here to save the world."

"From what?" Lois asked quickly.

"From itself. Save it from greed and coruption, everything that evil stands for. I will give my life to protect the people from it and will never stop fighting. I stand for truth, justice and the american way." He said proudly as Lois seemed impressed and a little taken a back.

"Interesting, so, I was wondering, do you have a girlfriend or anything like that?" Lois kind of blushed at the question as did Superman.

"No, I don't." Lois tried not to smile, "Well maybe, we could have dinner once. You know, just to thank you for saving me twice."

It Superman a while to answer, deep in thought about Lana. Was he ready to date again? Would he ever be ready? If he did, why would he date Lois? Although he did like the way she looked tonight, maybe there was a different side to her he never saw before. He still loved Lana, but reminded himself that was in the past and he put the past behind him.

"Lois, I would love to have dinner with you." They both shared a smile.

"Great, be here tomorrow night at 8, until then." She kissed him on the cheek, "Goodnight, Superman." He smiled at her and flew away.

*The next day at the Daily Planet.*

Clark and Chloe were sitting at their desks, when Lois came strutting in. "What are you so happy about cousin?" Chloe said eagerly.

"I got an interview with Superman and a date." Lois blushed on the date part.

"Wow, poor guy, he must no know you." Clark said jokingly even though it was a lie.

"Very funny Smallville, but not even you could ruin my mood today. Now off to Perry, so I can deliever my story." Lois went off into Perry's office.

Chloe then turned to Clark. "I talked to Lex and Pete yesterday." At the sound of their names, Clark's eyes filled with rage and hate. Chloe contined, "They came back for you Clark, they know you're Superman and are going to destroy everything you stand for."

"I see, so they want me? Like the old saying goes, be careful what you ask for, you just might get it. I've been waiting a long time for the next time I meet Pete and Lex."

Chloe was taken off-guard, she had never seen Clark this angry. However, she completely understood, considering everything Lex and Pete did to him. "I also talked to Lana." Chloe said trying to lighten up the mood unsuccessfully.

Clark lowers his eyes and all the angry turned to sadness. "You did?" He said slowly.

"Yes, i think you need to talk to her."

"I can't" Clark said quickly and abruptly.

"Why not?" Chloe replied.

"It's just too hard and I put everything in the past with us. It's time I moved on, I have a new life." Clark said trying to convince himself more than Chloe.

"Okay, if you think it's best." Chloe turned away disappointed, she knew how much both of them were hurting, because of it.

Just then, a long dark haired girl walks in. She turns toward Clark's desk and walks toward it.

"Clark?"
