Smallville: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

So the idea for this thread is to identify the "Good", the "Bad" and the "Ugly" from Smallville or a particular topic from Smallville. For instance:

Season 7

The Good: the introduction of Kara, Lex's descent into darkness, and the Clana break-up video

The Bad: the Veritas story arc (was way too rushed and forced), Clana, no Martha and Artic

The Ugly: Hero, Sleeper, Clark still can't fly and Kimmy!!!

Pretty straight foward. So any takers?

Blue:

The Good: Bittersweet story with his mom. I like that fact that she gets Clark mixed up with Jor-El. the way that Clark is willing to protect his mother was very cute.Loyalty between Chloe and Lois. The Julian/Gabriel plot twist


The Bad: The episode seemed very crunched. Eclipse was so short. It was kind of like why is there an eclipse? Next, why is Lois dating this Gabriel Grant/Julian Luthor guy? He is NOT a Lois boyfriend and they deffinantly fell in love TOO fast. Lastly, why did Kara get transported across the country. It was cool but the how was lost unto me.


The Ugly: WHAT THE HECK IS LOIS DOING? I can stand the office sex with Clark and Lois but Lois and Gabriel/Julian makes me throw up slightly in my mouth, Lana. Ok I go this qoute where she thinks she's entitled to being the only person who knows what it feels like to not know her mother. Which she actually does know her mother for at least 5 or 6 years. Lois was 2 when she lost her mom and Lex was 4 when he lost his own. Um excuse me Lana you aren't the only one. That and why is Lara so ok with Lana? Shouldn't her Kryptonian tingles be going off

Jimmy Olsen:

The Good: He was at times humurous, and worked great together with Lois and I actually liked Chimmy

The Bad: He was too old and didn't fit into the mythology, but then they did Jimmy wrong with him not being the "real" Jimmy Olsen

The Ugly: Secret Agent Jimmy, Druggie Jimmy, and pretty much Jimmy in Season 8

The Good: The Lana's a witch's great granddaughter arc, Lois came to town, Senior year, Clark naked (:D ahaha), Bart/ the young Flash, Shelby, Ageless, Forever. and seeing Clark say "Crown's mine *****"

The Bad: The Jason/Lana love triangle (snooze), Lana hissy fits at Clark to the max, Blank,

The Ugly: The slaughtering of Mister Mxyzptlk (i feel they said his name wrong and i totally wanted to get them to say it backwards), Transference (wasn't the biggest fan), Extremely whiney Lana (seriously can someone get her some cheese?), Devoted
Clark can fly!!!.....but only as Kal-El -_-

8x22 Doomsday

The Good: The RBB and Jimmy, Rokk, Zod

The Bad: Bart not using his superspeed enough

The Ugly: Chloe/Jimmy/Davis being the center of the episode, Jimmy not being the iconic Jimmy, the unbelievable shortness of the RBB/Doomsday fight, the unbelievable choreography of the RBB/Doomsday fight, final portrayal of the Davis character, resolution of the Jimmy character, Lois disappearing halfway thru the episode. About everything else not mentioned in "The Good".

Clana

The Good: Seasons 1-3, when Clana was innocent, you actually felt bad for Lana whenever she was hurt by Clark's secret, and the only secrets and lies were from Clark trying to protect his secret and her. I also loved the Clana break-up video from the end of Season 7 (even if it was fake)

The Bad: Seasons 4 and 5, when there were TOO many secrets and lies between the two, you were ready for Clark just to tell her his secret, and the over emphasis in Season 5 on thier sex life.

The Ugly: Seasons 7 and 8, when you were sick and tired of Clana at this point, even Chloe admitted that Lana was wrong for Clark, and Clark was more infatuated with Lana than he was his training. The break-up video was the only good that came out of Clana in season 7 and then to find out that it was a fake in season 8. I was furious with that. If there was a way for Clana to have proper closure, having Lana absorb kryptonite so the two of them can't be together was NOT IT!!!!! I hated hated hated Requiem, or at least the Clana parts of it!

*I didn't mention Clana in season 6, because I couldn't decide wether it was good or bad. To me it was just alright.

The witch stuff was a train wreck. I liked how they handled Mikhail's story. Jinx was one of the better episodes that season. And I think they DID say his name correctly.

I kind of liked Veritas. For the "good" I would have mentioned the episode "Quest". That was one of my favorite of the entire series.


IMO, I think the Veritas would have been better if it wasn't for the writer's strike, and they would have spent the WHOLE season on it. It was just felt so rushed, that it didn't seem believable. I will agree though that Quest was great! I was just so disappointed in Artic as a finale.

The Adam Knight Story Arc

The Good: The mysterious nods to his past, such as his parents dying, his unusual skills at technical stuff and fighting skills, surviving a fire... I honestly thought, for a very brief period, that he could be a young Bruce Wayne, either amnesiac, or going through some strange transition. The way he spoke the blunt truth to Lana about herself and opened her eyes to some things was actually fun to watch. Overall, it was just an interesting mystery, what with the needles, the bottle Chloe found... I kept wanting to know what was going on. "Crisis" was pretty awesome, too, in my opinion. It was a pretty cool ending to that mini-arc.

The Bad: The bleeding from the eyes bit was a bit much, and he was such a jerk around "Velocity"-"Resurrection." It felt like the storyline was going downhill and hadn't been thought through as carefully as it could've been.

The Ugly: The idea that he was basically an undead dude who was an experiment to see if Lionel could be killed of his fatal liver disease. I mean, I can see Papa Luthor trying to do that, but it still seems like an odd stretch, even for Smallville.

The Good: Clark learning of his origins, Clana was tolerable then, Christopher Reeve, Good story arcs, fewer Freak of the Week stories, the "Insurgence" jump

The Bad: The episode "Visitor", Chloe's constant jealousy of Clana

The Ugly: "Redux" and "Rush"
