From this week's Ask Ausiello:

Question: With Sarah Connor Chronicles canceled, please tell me there is a possibility of Summer Glau making an appearance on Dollhouse! --Jenn
Ausiello: The noise you're about to hear is the sound of the Whedonverse exploding. Joss confirms to me exclusively that, well, he's one step head of you. "If anybody thinks [bringing Summer onto Dollhouse] hasn't occurred to me already then they have not met me," he says. "I mentioned it to her before [SCC] was canceled. I was like, 'You know, we should get you in the 'house.' But first we have to come up with something that works." And casting her as a doll would not work, insists Whedon. "Summer would be perfect to play an active, but she's done that [type of role] a lot," he says. "I'd rather see her play someone who talks too much. The most fun I have is when I get somebody who's good and comfortable at doing something, and then I make them do something else. Summer said to me, 'I would like to play a normal girl before I die of extreme old age.'"

 I just read this. It's really awesome and even more if she isn't gonna play a doll imo. I hope they could make this happen.

^Could be cool if Summer Glau ends up playing Echo/Caroline's sister...who becomes a doll herself, but they don''t know it until the end of the season or something like that.

Maybe the plan is to keep slowly collecting the cast of Firefly until all of a sudden without warning they just turn out another new episode of Firefly in the Dollhouse timeslot without the studio execs noticing until it's too late.

 that'd be funny... though it's only two of them so far

People who have worked with Joss will always jump at the chance to do so again, and Joss has great taste in actors/actresses so he will use them again and again simply because they are good.

It's great for Joss fans, who love to see cameos from whedonverse actors as well.

I'm excited that Summer might be on the show, as she will obviously make a wonderful doll. I only worry that she might outshine Eliza.

That's fantastic news. And I agree, she needs to play a normal girl. I just start getting into Firefly, and between her character there and Cameron, she hasn't exactly played a 'normal' girl.

 I could see Gina Torres come in at some point, but Adam Baldwin is on Chuck right now. Although that would be hilarious.

I love Joss!

I was interested to see SG in that episode of "Big Bang Theory" where she played herself. I was curious to see her play a normal person. Curiously, she came across as quiet and reserved and... a bit strange. So it might actually be a bit of a stretch for her to play someone who talks too much, a motor-mouth. I love it when Joss tortures his actors!

I think for her it will be a liberating experience. Being able to play something outside of her comfort zone.

I'd quite like to see her play a minder, personally. Or someone in charge of one of the other dollhouses.

Actually, when you think about it being a doll would give her LOADS of opportunities to push her abilities. Sure she'd be good ol' Cameron half the time, but the other half she'll be taking on varying roles.

Craig posted news regarding Summer Glau's involvement in Dollhouse in the spoilers section. There is some other interesting news in there too ;):

After watching the, one and only, Firefly season i've become attached to Summer Glau. Very good actress, not to mention attractive! Can't wait for Dollhouse again.

I think Summer has potential to be a great actress, its just that she needs some more variety when it comes to her characters. I've only seen her act robotic/expression-less. I hope her character will be a bit more livelier...I just want to see more emotion from her. I am too not just watching Dollhouse for her...its just going to add an exciting new element to a show that has great potential.

Eliza just twittered that Summer is on Doll House!

God I hope she isn't a doll, would love to see her outside of a schizophrenic cyborg (4400/Firefly and Terminator)
