I think I had an epiphany!! :D
Just go with me on this for a second...

As messed up as it may be, maybe thats also a big reason why Chloe is helping Davis...he NEEDS her. Clark is finally moving on with his career....getting closer to Lois, and depending less and less on his faithful sidekick.

But Davis...is the messed up version of Clark. He desperately needs Chloe, and I think a part of her likes that. Maybe it isnt that she has strong love feelings for Davis...she wants to help someone who truly needs her? :\

When Clark and Davis are in the fortress....its almost like Clark is talking to his alter ego, or his complete opposite.

Clark is telling Davis if he loved Chloe...he would let her go. (because thats what Clark would do) But Davis cant even bare the thought of not having her....

It just seemed like the writers were trying to make a comparrison between the Chlark relationship and the Chlavis. Like Davis is some how Chloe's emotional replacement for Clark....As much as she loves Clark, he doesnt need her like he used to. Or atleast...not in the same way.

I dont know, just a thought I suppose. :o

I would agree with this for the initial attraction between them two but I think it's evolved beyond that now. Also it delivers the salt to the wounds of Jimmy aswell considering he openly made himself available to need her.

But to be honest right now I see no redeeming aspects to the Chlavis thing. Chloe's lying to Davis' face. Davis has feelings for her that are more obsessive rather than love, and even without Doomsday he's a conscious serial killer that can willingly take a life without much thought.

There's so much conflict in Chloe now it's hard to know where to begin. She was blantantly lying to Clark's face about Davis' survival. Oh, that was to protect Clark, right? Then she lies to Davis; she doing it all to protect Clark, willing to sacrifice for the greater good. She's going to run around for the rest of her life with Davis in tow, keeping his beast at bay while Clark becomes Supes? She doesn't feeling anything romantic towards Davis....or does she? She's not in love with Clark on any level anymore, or is she???? Again her eyes were so expressive, and indeed so conflicted, she's in way over her head and she knows it....

Meanwhile, I couldn't help think about Spock's dying, telling Kirk, "...the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few."
