I have the over under for Clark in this episode at 16 minutes 30 seconds, I fear it will be Clark light.

I hope we will see him more than expected and to answer the question, I am sure he will be perfect, as usual (you know, how I am objective with Clark http://www.yelims.com/IPB/Invision-Board-France-430.gif)

Clark-light ep. I hope he continues the strong "superman" like performance he's been giving us lately.

Yes, especially in Stiletto, he was soooo mature:)

I already think he's brilliant based on the trailer alone.

He'll be brilliant, and you're right Dusti, just by seeing the trailer. The man is on a roll!

I think Tom's work in this episode was very well done. My favorite Clark moment was his conversation with Davis, just before the super-fight (which was, again, way too brief!). Chloe accusing him of being afraid to kill just made me mad. Just last week, she threw away a guy's remains in garbage bags, actually having blood on her hands. What right does she have to lecture Clark on such matters? That was a hypocritcal moment, if ever I saw one.

During commercials i went back and clocked Clark's screentime, I think he bairly inched over 14 minutes(give or take 20 seconds), pretty sad

Clark was great in this episode.

There wasnt much of him in this episode, but when he was onscreen boy was he on. I felt such a strong Superman presence, which was great to see. Even when other characters were simply referring to him I could feel it. All that was missing was the music and the suit. :)

Tom was amazing. He gave a strong performance in every scene especially the last one. Beast didn't feel Clark lite even though the minutes may be low because he helped drive the plot. You got the sense that Clark was very busy, actively researching what happened with Davis and looking for solutions. I love the way he rushed into the basement and slammed Davis before superspeeding him to the PZ. The scene where he tosses Davis on the ground in the PZ was great.
For someone who doesn't have a brain Clark didn't have any trouble finding his way around those Isis computers by himself. ;)

I thought he was incredible in this episode. Probably the best he's been since season five's reckoning/vengeance!

Even though he wasn't in this epi as much , when he was he gave his all. His expressions and physical actions are just more and more amazing. I loved how angry he got when he smashed his phone. It's a side we havent seen too much of from him. Overall he just keeps getting more incredible as Clark Kent!!! CAn;t wait for Injustice ..and see how great of a job he does directing !!

Tom should have demanded more creative control in his contract. He shouldn't let them give him Clark light eppisodes and make them rewrite any eppisodes that make him look like a whimp.

Tom was great. He is almost all the time. He gave a strong performance in an episode that wasn't necessarily a strong Clark episode. Though I imagine he's used them by now.

His performance was solid but I am really sick and tired of Clark not embracing his destiny. He's regressed in fact! The old Clark had no problem taking out his enemies when it came to protecting the lives of others but the body count grows by the day and even with Doomsday butchering so many people, NOPE not enough for Clark to want to destroy him!

I enjoyed Tom's performance. Clark's determination to take action on the Doomsday situation was strong and consistent throughout IMO. He did a great job.

He gave a strong performance in an episode that wasn't necessarily a strong Clark episode. Actually for the episode before he directs, I'm pleased with the amount of time we had Clark on the screen. I'll hazard a guess that your stats tomorrow will show him more engaged that his usual pre-directing episode.
As for his performance I thought it was FANTASTIC. I'm not bothered by Ollie busting his chops because I think Clark is not going to argue about it. I thought this was obvious in both Ollie scenes. Clark told him he'd handle it in the first scene and blew out of there. In the second scene he swallowed his retort (and TW made that really palpable) and just focused on what he was doing.
I think it shows strength of character.
Clark is on a different plane here IMO. He's got the weight of the world on his shoulders. He's made his choice to be a full-time superhero with the reporter cover story. But the run-of-the-mill bad guys don't challenge Clark like Doomsday does. And I don't mean physically. Clark is struggling with defining his code of ethics for some very complex situations. I think TW knocked it out of the park when it comes to showing his inner struggles.
I think this episode moved that issue forward. Seriously. He's already firmly established "Do Not Kill on purpose". Yes, a bad guy might die but it won't be because Clark intended to use mortal force. With "Do Not Kill" in his code, the next up is what to do with alien or superpowered bad guys once you've captured them. In Plastique the issue was laid out --- sending Bette to Belle Reeves was not a really good option but it's the one Clark has always used (and how many years have we complained about this??). The Injustice League is going to be another reminder that he needs a better plan. He's also used the Phantom Zone as an option. That makes sense to me for those who escaped from the PZ but Beast was the first time he was going to sentence someone there. He's always turned the bad guys over to someone else (police, Martian Manhunter) but he doesn't have that option in this episode. Is sending criminals to PZ really going to be a part of Superman's code of ethics? I don't know but it's a meaty question in my mind. Clark has been there and he saw what it did to Kara as well. Is this really justice for Davis? Clark certainly had weighed the issue in his mind (he killed 50 people) but there is still the issue of free will that Chloe knows is going to bug him --- he admitted Davis was living his nightmare. I also think "find the third way" is not simply "send bad guys to the Phantom Zone". And Ollie telling him he has to tarnish his soul for the good of others? Clark is never going to buy that one IMO.
So, in sum, I think this was a great episode for Clark: it showed he is struggling to form his code of ethics for some really complex issues. He had Martian Manhunter to "clean up" for him last year. He's on his own. It's time to move beyond "send the meteor freaks to Belle Reeves" and "send bad aliens to the PZ".
Now I have been worried that they are going to make it seem like Clark is wrong with everyone telling Clark he has to kill Doomsday. I think, however, Chloe has turned around on this issue (I could be wrong). After Clark and Chloe's conversation at the end, I think they are going to ultimately show Clark had found a way to deal with the bad guys that doesn't conflict with his beliefs. I hope it doesn't take all of S9 but I think it's a meaty development topic.

He was absolutely incredible in this episode! The few scenes he had were outstanding and the way other people referred to him gave him a very superman-like aura around him. Everything from the conversations with both Chloe and Oliver, to him and Davis in the fortress, to him struggling with his moral ethics were just so amazing. He really pulled it off this time.

I agree..I HOPE that in his negotiations for Season 9 , that He Got more Creative control along with EXECUTIVE PRODUCER!!! I keep wondering why that hasn;t happened yet. MOST lead actors of a tv show have that EP credit by their name especially by this beings Season 8.

I agree, Tom was perfect in showing his inner struggles. His best performance yet IMO.

There was actually something new in his character that I liked. I think the old Clark certainly would have hesitated to send Davis to the PZ after his plea. But no Clark thought it was the best option for everyone else in the world and he doesn't actually kill him even if he damns him into a world like hell, he doesn't break his rule... But still it remains a tough decision, but he took it.

He must of held back because he could have bashed that file cabinet into the floor.I didn't think of it that way while watching, I was thinking of it in terms that he actually lost it a bit, but I guess there really was a bit of self control.
I thought TW did an excellent job. His conversation with Chloe and his look of inner conflict and turmoil were very good. I felt sorry for Clark (and Chloe).

I loved Tom Welling's performance in "Beast." I may be biased in that I am a huge fan, and like just about everything he does on the show, but in this particular episode, Welling brought in the right amount of vulnerability and determination - he was very good.
