Similarities to other seasons?

Okay so this is probably just me rambling and letting thoughts get out of control but does anyone else notice some similarities to the future world that was avoided by saving the cheerleader? take out the new york explosion and some characters and bam the future.

anyone else see this? or any connection to/repeating previous story lines in volume 5?

that's what I was thinking. The people with powers are like terrorists now which is what five years in the future was like too.(I watched the second to last episode of season 1 earlier today)

It's pretty clear that the writers are trying to establish the future we've seen in previous episodes, especially in "Five Years Gone." I personally like the fact that the writers are actually following up with previous story lines that they've brought in, specifically in future episodes. I'd like to see this continuity but with a new story line so we can have the familiar with the unfamiliar.
