well, this episode i realized for the first time how few go-to friends most smallville characters have. am i the only one whome this strikes as slightly odd? let me example:

chloe - almost, but then didnt, open up to neither clark nor lois. no jimmy left. her only friend with whome she can be open is davis - not exactly the most thrilling thought.

Jimmy - utterly alone, unless you count his drug dealer.

clark - his mother, lana and all of the justice leaguers are away. his friendship with chloe has been off a bit, with her cutting him out on her biggest issue. the clois situation he described once as "things haven't been exactly smooth between us" ok, fair enough: things are lighting up despite lois correctly commenting that "not even a hero can outrun loneliness.

Davis - if you ignore the fact that he's a super killer...i believe you can describe his frienship situation as somewhat strained.

Lois, Tess - seem to be the only people i can honestly imagine knowing many people to spend some friendly time with. (wink to the poker-buddy police officer)

Yes I would agree that they are isolated. But I suppose that comes with the territory. It cant really be a drama is everything is working out for the characters.

As far as Chloe is concerned (if I well remember) quite some people attended her birthday. So I guess she's not that out of friends.

Chloe is a drama queen (like Lana) and its only a matter of time before no one likes them anymore.

This is why I think Pete should return. If Ollie is always around, then it becomes all about him (Ollie) and Clark gets shafted in onscreen minutes. He needs a buddy he can always talk to. Pete never stole his thunder and always allowed Clark to be the best he could be. He also worked well with Jimmy (perhaps the only thing I liked about Hero) & Jimmy desperately needs a friend.

My bottom line: introduce Intergang in season 9, have them infiltrate City Hall where Pete is shown to have just gotten a job with the mayor's administration. Then have Pete be Clark's friend & source as well as Jimmy's friend and maybe even Lois' friend.

Just look what a good reaction we got when the core characters were shown helping and interacting with each other.

I also wrote some season 6 fanfic episodes that branched off the official timeline and so far 3 full season 7 episodes about 2 years ago and plan to finish it. I came up with a spectacular episode for the death of Lionel 2 years ago that I'm really looking forward to finishing.

I have been right every time I suspected that certain actors/characters would have good chemistry. I suspected that the Lois-Clark stuff we're finally getting this season would blow Clana out of the water, I suspected that Lois-Jimmy scenes would be great, that Clark-Jimmy scenes would be great, and that a Jimmy-Martian Manhunter scene (which we got in Prey) would be great. I love the chemistry in all these interactions. And I have zero doubts that Pete would have good chemistry with Lois, Jimmy (as we have seen in Hero), Clark & Chloe (as he did before). I loved the scene in Perry where he helped pull Clark & Perry out of the gorge.

Yeah i had no idea chloe talked to that many people to show up at her wedding and birthday. As far as the others go, i think jimmy doesnt really have anyone to lean on especially showing how his life is going now. clark only sticks with his few close friends. chloe has davis and others...but really just davis right now since she's somewhat pushing clark and lois away because of that whole situation. As far as lois and tess, sure they have friends. I dont think they spend a whole lot of time with them though because they're both so concentrated on there work right now.
