Anyone else reminded of Norman/Norma (with the whole talking to a dead mother/taking on her identity) from the movie Psycho?

I think that was a great touch; Sylar really came through as "the deeply troubled psychopath" in this episode. His is definitely the most compelling storyline on the show, in my opinion.

I saw the reference. I thought it was a nice homage to Hitchcock, while giving a twist to it (him literally shapeshifting into his mother for the conversation)

Litle bit more bizarre
