I rate Promise the 4th worst episode ever(Yes I depised the whole Lex/Lana/Clark love triangle that much and that episode was the pinnacle of that crappy storyline), while I am guessing it might get a few votes most non Lana fans probably don't remember it as fondly

Unless Turbulence blows people away I expect Descent to run away with the crown

I'm not voting until Turbulence is over, but I wouldn't say that Descent is a runaway winner. Stray, Fever, and Crisis are also solid contenders for the top spot.

If you look at the results for episode 16 last year, Descent ran away with the crown. I expect it to lose some votes because it's not as fresh as last year but it won by a landslide(166, with Promise being the second highest with 22)

Unless Turbulence blows people away I expect Descent to run away with the crown

I disagree, it's not the 'non lana fans,' it's the 'lana haters.' I'm certainly not a 'Lana fan' but Promise is one of the stronger episodes of the series. As a standalone script, it's pretty phenomenal. The way they split the narrative into three different viewpoints, and showed subtle differences, and made it all come together in such a taught manner is impressive in and of itself. It was well acted by all involved, emotional and powerful.
The people who don't like Promise are those that hate Clana or the entire Lexana story line. I didn't love Lexana, but you're not supposed to.

----- Added 4 Minutes later -----

On the whole it's a really strong list. I can't believe Lucy is picking up so much and Stray is so far behind! I'd have to rank as
1. Promise (for reasons aforementioned)
2. Descent
3. Stray
4. Turbulence
4. Fever
6. Lucy
7. Hypnotic
8. Crisis

6. Hypnot

I didn't love Lexana, but you're not supposed to.

let me rephrase my statement. I didn't find any entertainment value out of Lexana when Clark was involved making it a love triangle. Lexana itself had it moments but when Clark becomes a depressed, mopey idiot hiding out in his barn, that's not what I want to watch on this show. Clexana added absolutely nothing to this series for my tastes.

Promise could have had the world greatest script, the world's greatest acting, wonderful camera work and 1 million dollars in special effects, it still doesn't change the fact that whiney depressed Clark is a huge hinderence to this show for my tastes. Only positive thing I can pick up from the episode was the Shelby scenes were great

I can't believe Lucy is picking up so much and Stray is so far behind! I'd have to rank as

Lois fans can look to Lucy with a special fondness, Lucy has to be the second best Lois relative ever to appear on the show, behind Sam of coarse :)

Wow, Smallville has had some pretty fantastic 16th episodes. I'd rank Hyptonic done the line with Magnetic... another one of my least favorite Smallville episodes (and I generally love them all)... but the others are just fantastic.

I love Ryan, and Promise was a really strong episode. Descent was a pivotal point in the series, and Turbulence showed some stellar progression in Clark's path to fulfilling his destiny. I am so impressed by tonight's episode, that I just may give my vote to tonight's episode... but I'll sleep on it.

4. Crisis

Not much where to choose from, I didn't like any of those episodes very much. Promise was good in some aspects but bad in others. Descent was all right, though Clark was very little in it. Fever, I liked the part of the chase and when Jonathan and a very sick Clark take the ship to outside the hospital to save Martha, but that was it. turbulence was a big disappointment.

Here, here! Lucy was probably the only Lois centered one ever since season 4 and i just loved because i got to see a little bit of my hero's background:D. Smallville is probably going to end without ever showing a bit more of this background and people may be voting for it because they got to know, even if it was just a peek, in Lois Lane's personal side and family relationship.

Lucy, one of my favorites and one that is way under-rated. In Season 9 I'd really like to see at least one more episode that like Lucy spends some more time on her background, what it was like growing up as an Army brat, where her relationship stands with The General and Lucy. I think a lot of people just jumping on the Lois bandwagon this season who may have missed Lucy would really enjoy a more in-depth character study of Lois's background to show exactly how she became the woman she is today.

I voted for "Promise" and was probably a little hasty in doing so, even though I do believe it was a stellar episode. I may not have been one of the biggest cheerleaders for the Lexana plot line, but I thought that this particular episode was extremely well-done, especially with the way they came at it from several different points of view, revealing more about what was really going on with each new person's story they showed. Lana discovering the secret on her own through trickery was an interesting twist, and of course, the way she had to end up marrying Lex after promising she'd meet Clark at the barn... that was tragic... and I wasn't even a Clana fan in Season 6 (I'm still not, but I was SERIOUSLY not one then).

I liked several other episodes that were the 16th ones, too. "Stray" was awesome, because it featured one of my favorite FOTWs (if you can even call him that since we don't even know if his powers came from the meteor rocks), the telepathic Ryan James, who had such a great brotherly relationship with Clark which I wish could've been expanded into a multi-episode story arc rather than killing him off in his next appearance. "Fever" is also a personal favorite due to the Chloe letter, and how high the stakes were for the Kent family in the episode. "Crisis" was clever, though not in my top 10 favorites list. "Descent" was memorable, but not a personal fave. Alas, poor Lionel... "Lucy" was just rather bland and boring, and "Hypnotic?" I don't think that episode is even worth a second glance.

As for "Turbulence," my inner jury is still out. There were parts I loved, and others that I was angered by, and overall, it left me just plain confused and disgruntled... which probably is a good indicator as to why I didn't vote for it.

Here is my issue with Promise. A pile of crap that is covered in a nice sweet icing with a sprinkles on top is still a pile of crap at the core of it no matter how you dress it up. I undertsand if people were interested in the Lexana storyline with Clark looking depressed wanting Lana back enjoying it, but I can't help but look past the icing and sprinkles to see the episode for what it really is.

I see many people who rate this episode as good saying the camera works was great, or it's innovative how we got 3 different points of view in it, the actors gave an A-performance, but all that to me was icing and sprinkles.

Haha, nice description. I never had a problem with the Lexana storyline. Let me rephrase that: Lexana was pretty disgusting to watch, and seeing Lex and Lana make out kind of made me vomit. And I didn't see Clark as 'moping alone.' He was sad, but it's not like ALL he did was stay in his barn. He fought phantoms with Rya, helped Oliver when he was a kryptonite steroid junky, fought the dude who rips spines out of people's backs, helped....mexican... immigrants..., kissed Lois as Green Arrow, formed the Justice Society (pre-justice league), saved Tobias the blind kid, fought Titan which was awesome (though, granted, because he was pining for Lana)... Whatever, he did a lot besides JUST pine for Lana. And besides, if the woman you'd loved for years has left you and starts dating your old best friend, whom you happen to know is a total scumbag, you'd be pretty bummed too.
The thing is, it wasn't unexpected for me. They were hinting at Lex's fascination in Lana since season 1. It actually seemed fitting for him to swoop in when she was vulnerable. I didn't enjoy it, but I didn't think it made bad television. It showed a lot of Lex's true nature, and it was something I'd kind of waited to see.
I just always wondered why Clark never did anything to show Lana how messed up Lex was. It couldn't take him THAT long to get some evidence (BDA). But I guess she wouldn't believe him. He also could have x-rayed her and told her she wasn't pregnant. But why would he be looking for that?
Anyway, the story isn't my FAVORITE in smallville history, but I thought it was pretty good, and Promise is a spectacular episode in that storyline.

And on Descent: I can't really recall anything about that episode except the first scene, and that's why I can't vote for it.

This was difficult. I had a hard time picking between several of these (in particular: Stray, Fever, Turbulance) but I had to go with Fever for 2 reasons:

1.) Chloe and the letter.
and 2.) Jonathan Kent breaking into a military base to save his wife. Now that's love, baby!

So yeah, Fever took it for me.

Honestly, Stray is one of the most powerful episodes in Smallville. Its really the first time that viewers get to see Clark actually seem like Superman, but without flying around and stopping supervillians. The episode is full of great emotion and Ryan was a really fun character.

Descent would probably be a close second.

1. Turbulence -- Just watched this episode again and I looooove it. Used to think Abyss was my favorite S8 episode, but I love every minute of Turbulence. I'm not even a Jimmy fan, but I liked him a lot in this one.

2. Crisis -- Was so cool and scary when I first saw it, my mom and I were screaming the whole time. It does lose some of its effect with subsequent viewings, but I still really like it.

3. Descent -- A very good episode, but... other than a few amazing scenes, the episode feels a little empty to me. And Lois and Jimmy getting locked in a freezer? Eh. I still don't get why Jimmy didn't use that metal thing he used to bang on the door to just break the window.

4. Stray -- Good episode. I always liked Ryan, and that kid actor and Tom Welling acted so well together. Plus it had that awesome song at the beginning.

5. Fever -- I haven't seen it in a long time, so I don't remember much. But I know it has the Chloe letter, so that's good.

6. Hypnotic -- Not the best, but not too bad. Had James Marsters, so that makes any episode better.

7. Promise -- Sooooo bad. Just bad and cheesy and bad. That scene under the church was just cringe worthy. The only good part of this episode was Lana finding out Clark's secret.

8. Lucy -- This episode sucked and was so boring. I barely remember what happened, which is not a good thing. The only good part was Clark jumping onto the semi, which I only remember because it was in the credits so much.
