Leech - On a class trip, Clark and a fellow student named Eric are struck by lightning, and because Eric was holding a piece of kryptonite, Clark's powers are transferred into him.

Insurgence - Lex hires some thugs to bug Lionel's office but things get out of control when Lionel and Martha are taken hostage, and Clark must rescue them without revealing his secrets.

Hereafter - Clark discovers that his schoolmate Jordan can foresee the future, but is horrified when Jordan tells him he "sees" Lana dying in a fire in the next few days. Meanwhile, suspicious of his behavior, Chloe investigates Adam's background and discovers some disturbing news.

Pariah - When a mysterious killer strikes at both Lana and Jason, Alicia is the leading suspect and even Clark comes to doubt her innocence. Feeling betrayed, she secretly tricks Clark into revealing his powers in front of one of his friends. And Genevieve returns to town with an offer for Lex, who in turn has an offer for Jason.

Reckoning - Clark reveals his secret to Lana, Jonathan and Lex learn the results of the senatorial election, and there is a tragic car accident on the highway that takes the life of someone Clark loves, forcing Clark to appeal to Jor-El for help.

Labyrinth - Clark is in his barn one moment... and the next finds himself in a psychiatric hospital where he discovers he's been suffering from delusions that he came from another planet and has super-powers.

Fracture - Lex tracks the amnesiac Kara to Detroit, where Lois follows him. An obsessive busboy infatuated with Kara shoots Lex, and Chloe has to determine whether to heal him or not.

Bulletproof - Using the name Joe Fordman, Clark goes undercover to discover why Detective John Jones was shot. Meanwhile, Lana and Oliver are hiding a secret from Clark.

Ok so Leech Insurgence Hereafter Pariah Reckoning Labyrinth and Fracture were amazing! Especially Fracture!!!!! So that's all the 12th eps which means- this one is destined for greatness!!! I'm not gonna vote yet of course but if the trend continues I'm sure it Bullettproof will get my vote even more so with the previews!

Bulletproof was a great episode, not as amazing as Legion, but still great. It's full of action like every episode should be and action scenes like Lana/Tess fight shows you don't have to take much from the budget.

Insurgence. I just loved that episode and all the suspense in it. It was the episode that got me permanently hooked to this show.

Leech & Hereafter were also very good. I also liked Labyrinth, Fracture (though Fracture had many BS moments) & Bulletproof. Pariah wasn't good IMO and Reckoning was garbage.

I voted for Reckoning simply there was so much drama and emotions.

However, Insurgence, Labyrinth, Fracture are a very close 2nd followed closely by Pariah and Leech. In fact all these are some of my favourite episodes of the entire series. Bulletproof was a solid episode but obviously not as good as those other 12th episodes.

I was rather surprised at how hard it was to pick the best 12th episode, but there have been so many incredible ones. Each one has really lent something special to the show.

I mean, "Bulletproof" was great, but I wasn't about to pick it over SEVERAL of the others. "Insurgence" was an awesome, action-packed episode full of cool twists back in season 2, and Leech was one of the most classic, non-annoying FOTW episodes ever, though I still wouldn't have put them in the number 1 spot.

I almost chose Pariah, because I thought it was the best portrayal of the Clark/Alicia relationship, and it was full of such a wide range of emotions for all the characters involved in it, not to mention that it finally opened Chloe's eyes to one aspect of Clark's true super-powered nature.

Labyrinth was just so well-done in the way they recreated Clark's world in that Phantom's image, and they were able to take all the characters down such different roads than they would've been able to do otherwise. It kept you guessing as to what exactly was going on until the very end, or at least, that's what it did for me. And Fracture was another cool character-focus episode, and shed some more light into Lex's darkest secrets, though again, not the best of the bunch.

I even enjoyed "Hereafter" -- it's one of my fave and most rewatched episodes of Season 3, partly because it has the 2nd most likable FOTW that they've introduced on Smallville (second only to Ryan James). I almost wish they brought Jordan Cross's character back, though I know there isn't much more they could have done with him, and if they did bring him back, it would probably only be to kill him off.

So, in my humble opinion, that leaves the BEST 12th episode of the series: "Reckoning." I chose it for a host of very valid reasons. The way the show was plotted alone was just amazingly done. I'm a big fan of time travel/alternate realities, so they way they gave us so many surprises in the first arc and then took it all back with Clark's leap back in time, and then revealing the horrible consequences of that choice left me on the edge of my seat and screaming at the screen multiple times in the show -- not necessarily in a majorly mad way, but just because I was so shocked and surprised. It gave us TWO major character deaths, even though only one stuck, and they were both excellently done. All the actors and actresses were at the top of their game. The first scene with Clark and Lana was totally breathtaking when he leapt up into the fortress with her and proposed (and this is coming from a total anti-Clana person). Everything about "Reckoning" made it a force to be RECKONED with (LOL, you can all groan at the bad pun you probably saw coming a mile away now).

I think it's just awesome that every 12th episode has just been so good! Way to go Smallville for keeping up that quality!

"Reckoning", even though it was heartbreaking. I understand what you're saying, Timester; I didn't like that aspect of it, either. But I thought the episode was very powerful emotionally, and that earns my vote.

I had to vote for Reckoning, as it is a true classic in the Smallville cannon.

That said, I have to admit that Pariah has always been a special episode for me. It was the final appearance of Alicia Baker, a character who had a lot of potential, I thought. I wished TPTB had kept around for a few more episodes, and allowed Clark to explore a relationship with another super-pwered being more fully. Sarah Carter did a wonderful job with the part.

Also, Pariah had one of my favorite Lois Lane lines: "Was she wearing something low-cut when she spun that tale, Clark, 'cause I'm not sure you're thinking with your _big_ brain." Classic Lois.

Reckoning is in a whole different league than everything else on the list... then Pariah is second in my book and here is my reasoning.
Reckoning had a MAJOR character die that in the long term has a major affect on Clark long term both in SV world and in the mythos... IMHO one cannot rate any other 12th episode above that.
Pariah had a love interest die and it needs to be noted that Alicia was the only one in the past 8 years where Clark was able to be himself completely. That is until Lana found out, but it still doesn't count the way ClAlicia did, as Clana has been tainted since Lexana happened and now if it isn't Clark keeping the secrets it is Lana.

It appears that by the 12th episode, the writers needed a hiatus. It's a sad day in the 'Ville when wReckoning is considered by far the best of anything. What it did do was preceed a dramatic fall in ratings. Guess I was wrong, if not the best it was certainly important. Smallville has been a more mature and darker show since.

Reckoning is a close #2 (the polls obviously disagree and place it #1) and then after that I like Bulletproof then Insurgence.

Labyrinth - Minus the ending. Pure AWESOME. Jor-El is hand soap? Crippled Lex going off on Clark for being crazy? Lionel getting some..Oh my is the world ending? Martha on pain pills? Lana is an innocent angel? Chloe knows Clark secret that he's crazy and so is she? If only Shelby had stayed quiet we'd of had a winner for a series finale. LOL all the way! That episode just cracks me up every time.

In fact, I'm gonna watch "Labyrinth" again just to see the look on Clark's face when he finds out that Jor-El is just hand soap! And Martian Manhunter saying "I'm from mars" LOL! I don't know but that scene just makes me laugh every time as it reminds me of the scene from "Twelve Monkey's" where the dude is going off about being from some other planet to Bruce Willis in the sanitarium. Bruce looks down and sees he's wearing bunny shoes.

This episode will always be in my personal top 5 list.

Lots of "drama" doesn't instantly make it a good episode in my eyes. Reckoning definantly would make my worst 50 episodes list, give me an episode with a happy proactive Clark anyday over one who blames himself for whatever stupid event happened that episode.
