View Full Version : Did Legion advance S9 or signal the end?

They seem to be wrapping things up. Jor El is now gone, the fortress is drained of all of the knowledge that was placed in there for CK and Lana is moving on in a few weeks. With all of the references to Superman, wheres the cape, why can't you fly? it almost seems as if they are bringing things to a conclusion. I hope not but I don't want to see a s9 without flight.

They are setting it up for a "heart-breaking" decision for the cliff-hanger, however, sadly, I change my initial vote for a S9 to end it now. PS3 lost my enthusiasm this episode. It's just a tap dance with no pay-off.

I think there could still be a S9.

Season 9. I honestly think the Fortress will be restored soon and Jor-El will be back, as well. The way I see things, its the beginning of the end, if that makes sense. Season 8 is the introduction to 'the end' as Season 9 is 'the end', but at the same time, the beginning.

The only way that could happen it would seem is if those in the 31st century extract the knowledge stored in the FOS as well as Jor El and send them back. I was surprised that CK allowed them to take the ball. The FOS is now useless.

So are you going to be disappointed if they confirm Season Nine?

I thought the references to the "no flights no tights" and everything they said about him not progressing was kinda funny. It was almost like the writers were taking a page after reading stuff on here so much :)

The writers were actually making fun of the writing on the series. It was weird.

Yeah I noticed that, and I also noticed my reply was in the wrong thread, lol.
I think they used that to signal what could come in S9, in one way or another. Hopefully their comments were enough to "plant the seed" in Clark's head to grow up and do something. I only wish they would have said something about Lana so he'd forget her and move on a lot faster.

Actually they have no other choice but make another since Tom is already contracted for another season. Plus another season would rock!.

I thought that since Brainiac was officially destroyed, the Fortress would be back to normal.

That would be the optimistic route; how can they make fun of no flights and no tights and then continue the silliness for another season? They are either planning on fixing that situation or shutting down the series. They can't continue as is after tonight.

They did give him a ring people, if he needs the fortress and all its knowledge, he could go get their help couldnt he?
Maybe they messed up abit.
The other two guys did it for 7 years straight, i think we can let PS3 slide here.
I am not sure. I have very mixed feelings as to what is going to happen (not about the decision for S9, I hope that happens) but for the rest of the season. Things look pretty intense from here on out. There's information over-load in each episode.
I still have to sit on Legion, as I don't know how to feel about this episode! (Not that it was bad or anything, it was just dark at times and then some light moments and back and forth) I feel like I just got off of a roller-coaster ride.

We've heard opposing rumors; one that Welling is re-signing and the other that Dawn Ostroff?? is shutting it down. I'm trying to discern the truth from the episodes to see what they are up to and tonight seemed like the shutting down is coming. I hope I"m wrong.

Yes, The Legion showing up advances things, but Lana plainly gave Clark the advice of doing things at his own pace...Season 9 is coming...you can quote me on that! LOL...

The fortress was destroyed before and it came back. Also fortress was regenerated in Superman II. this is TV they can bring it all back.

With all the meta commentary, I hope it is a sign that they have planned to end this season. I really am sick of stalling all the series long arcs.
I'm mostly watching the Lana in the next few episodes. If they can commit to resolving that, I will be happy.

Yes but the plot lines should tip us off. It's possible that Jor El and the fortress are all gone and other arcs could be winding down as they wrap it up. They made fun of CK not being able to fly. It seems as if the writers understand that he either flies or they have to wrap it up. We can't have another season of a Superman who can't fly.

Don't worry, that fortress has gone on and off more times than Clana did during the show's first seven seasons:rotfl:

If the producers are pursuing Welling for S9 and are willing to pay what other leading men get for last, uncontracted seasons, Tom Welling will be filthy rich, and I can't imagine why he would turn down that kind of jack. Additionally, WB is putting Superman and the DC line on hold. Maybe that'll give Tom time to do a S9 and become the new movie Superman (I hope).

I certainly hope that by Rokk saying to be careful within the coming days to Clark doesn't hint that this will be the last season. I'm not sure right now.
On the other hand, by Clark stating that there's still so much that he has to learn could mean a S9!

Season 15 !!!!
If they do it right that could happen. Superman has never been done right imho. The Reeves movies were too campy and silly and the George Reeve TV series was in the infancy of TV and was not believable because you could tell he was jumping off of a trampoline when he took off etc. Smallville is a drama and if they avoid being too soap operish it works. We are invested emotionally in the Tom Welling Superman and the Erica Durance Lois Lane and I think if done right the could get many more years out of it. Preferably not on the CW.

I don't think they could do all that if this is the last season. I still can't determine if the signs are there for a ninth season. I kind of think not.

The ratings were very good and the finals should be outstanding all in a Clana episode. Let's hope it's enough.
A MAN OF REASON!

I may be one of the few,if not the ONLY one who thinks this way,but if they do decide to do a S9,they really need to bring Lex back. I'm actually to the point that the way things have progressed in S8,unless they let Clark fly and fully develop into his "mature" self. S9 will be a waste. Without Lex there to be the lethal antagonist he's been in the past, the show will most likely hit a brick wall, And I've been a fan of Smallville for far too long to see it go out with a "thud".

From what I've read the main issue is that MR doesn't want to shave his head anymore. They can fix that with makeup. What would they do about Lex knowing CK's secret? I suppose his hoses could break and he gets a mind wipe or something.

These writers are a lot better than what we've had. A Season 9 could be outstanding if they allow CK to become Superman.
