Is the Brain Interactive Construct arc done?

It seems he had plans with Doomsday but how will that change that he is gone?

I have mixed feelings about it. Brainiac, as played by James Marsters, was great. But it seems like they've kind of run that theme into the ground. How many times can they show Brainiac trying to take over the world?

And yet, mjc, you've got a good point. The Doomsday arc isn't finished. Did Brainiac put part of himself into Doomsday? Or what else?

Now I'll just have to watch the whole season!

This is key...if they want, the writers can easily put Brainiac into the story without a problem or the fans *****ing about plot holes or continuity.

I would love to see Brainiac come back as I feel his part in this season has been too big a part to just be thrown away at the middle of the season. There has to be a reason they have been mentioning his name in basically every single episode this season.

I want to see a Doomsday/Brainiac takeover-that would be awesome!!!

Or is Brainiac 5 the next version in their perspective since he showed up the first time as the black ship/Milton Fine, the 2nd time in season 7 after rebuilding himself, the 3rd time in season 8 as of Odyssey when he infected Chloe, and the 4th time in season 8 at the end of Abyss when he took over the FOS? To us, he is still Brainiac. I'm hoping he rebuilds his black ship form in the future and returns to the present day, but goes to other planets vowing to return to Earth one day.

I really hope that "Smallville" has finished with Brainiac. I like James Marsters' performance just as much as anyone else, but lately the show seems to be feeling like "The Clark vs. Brainiac Hour". I think that if they do bring Marsters back, make absolutely sure he stays dead this time. To quote a popular video game, "Finish Him!"

Smallville's Brainiac 5 has a different origin but that is the comic character history. He's the super smart legion scientist who plans the missions. He is the great great great grandson of Brainiac in the comics. In Smallville they are skipping the legacy entirely. Brainiac 5 is in the ball extracted from chloe. As Brainiac is a computer in smallville he will be reprogrammed to be a good guy. (and hopefully not look like james marsters because thats just too far)

I thought that too, but Davis waking up seems to indicate that Brainiac's presence inside the fortress disappeared. Maybe the fortress remained dark because all of it's knowledge was sucked from it by Brainiac.

What you say may be true.

But when Brainiac was sucked out of Chloe, everybody woke up, and all the computers came back on line. The fortress didn't. He may still be there.

Remember, we saw Brainiac appear on all those computer screens. It's quite likely he's lurking in the computer systems at the Daily Planet, Isis Foundation, and probably several other computers in Metropolis.

Not to mention he may still be in the FOS.

And he may have left a copy of himself inside Davis's mind.

And then, there's the fact that he also went into Lana's brain as well last season.

The fact is, one of the most DEFINING characteristics of Brainiac in every medium he's appeared in (TV shows, comics, etc) is that he ALWAYS saves a piece of himself somewhere before battle (or sometimes even during battle) to eventually regenerate and continue his quest (which is why when Kara was about to "kill" him in Apocalypse last season, Brainiac responded by simply smirking and laughing at her).

The door is still open for Brainiac to return.

Lets also not forget that Brainiac can be in multiple places with drones operating individually as well as collectively. Brainiac could easily be draining the knowledge from multiple planets all over the galaxy at the same time. Who knows where it is, and how many planets it's on right now. It's not just a single entity, like a human, or any form of alien, it's a computer program that doesn't really need a form to survive. Even if there is a single microscopic piece of Brainiac left, it can reanimate itself.

Brainiac can always come back. He a computer program and the body was composed of nanites. Many ways brainiac saved him self.

Left a few nanites in the fortress or in other parts of the world
Chloe Bleed back at the planet and nanites got away
Brainiac when he was interrupted save a portion of his program in the internet

Personally I think this closes this arc. Doomsday can finish this season.

Well the final scene was Doomsday, so I certainly hope that Brainiac no longer exists. I do think there's going to be a battle between Doomsday and Clark "within the coming days".
