Didn't Lois mention that they had the best people that specialize in internal bleeding or something like that?

Maybe Oliver has something to do with the transfer to Star City.

Also, the wedding was at Clark's barn in Smallville.
After the DD attack, they were all shipped to Metropolis hospital instead of Smallville.

The whole thing just made me laugh. Just LAST WEEK they specifically mentioned the 2 hour drive from SV to Metropolis.
And then they ship Jimmy -- who really needs some immediate help -- to CALIFORNIA (unless Star City is now in like Montana or something...).

Duh, they have just been attacked by a monster with a bad case of bony protrusions and you expect a tiny community medical center to have enough equipment and surgeons to care for them? :rotfl:
Seriously guys, it's not a much of a big deal I'm sure Lionel's best surgeons were busy with others and it's not like there is only 2-3 best surgeons in the USA.

There are different levels of "best" surgeons when wealth is involved.

That was Metropolis hospital's set. I guess they adapted the old set so they can't send people to Smallville's hospital anymore. It's like Ollie's apartment, it's now the Ace of Clubs, so Oliver lives in his plane.

Even as funny as that sounds (Oliver living in his plane), I like the look the jet gives the show. :D :p

Maybe most of the guests ended up at Smallville Med and only the most seriously injured made the two to three-hour trip to Met Gen.

Maybe they finally finished the reconstruction of the Smallville hospital. Remember Lana in the closed off wing in season 6? With all the VIPs living in Smallville it wouldn't surprise me. Only the best for the senator's son...
Back to topic.
I never heard of someone with internal injury being transported anywhere. I only know of burn victims being flown to a special clinic for (experimental*) treatment.
*Been there in the ICU, after I had 60% of my skin burned. No scars!

Anyone else find it odd that Lana was in a private room in a hospital gown on a bed, after being healthy enough to climb up to the loft of the barn to help Clark, but there were people still bleeding in formal wear in the waiting room?

People are flown all over for various reasons. A small hospital like Smallville medical center, is probably a level III trauma center. It contains only the very basics for trauma care, and next to nothing in the way of specialized surgeons, and other health care professionals. You get your ER docs, and maybe a couple general surgeons, but no one with any real, large scale trauma experience. You take patient's here, to basically get basic stabilization, before you fly them, or ground transport them somewhere else.
Metropolis, and Star City, are most definately level I trauma centers. They contain every kind of doctor you could ever want. They have burn units, cardiac units, trauma units, every level of ICU you could dream of, and the ability to handle hundreds of various kinds of patient's at once, simply due to the area they are in. This is where you get sent, when you really get hurt, and are in some kind of rural, to lightly suburban setting.
As far as Jimmy, and others go, it wouldn't be uncommon to transfer them. A small place like Smallville medical center, could not handle the care Jimmy needs. Star City may not be the ideal place to transfer someone, as Met Gen is closer, but it's up to the family really. And if Oliver and company want Star City, because they have the best doctors for it, and Oliver and Lois can oversee the treatment, they'd let Jimmy go as long as he was stable enough for a multi hour flight.

Apparently it's closer than Metropolis.

"Star City" is just one of the nicknames for my hometown of Lincoln, NE. I'm sure other cities can make the same claim, however, it is closer positioned to the fictional setting of Smallville Kansas. We do have excellent hospitals, trauma centers and rehab centers. Although I'm not convinced Metropolis doesn't. I think Oliver has something to do with it.
Whenever I hear "Star City", yeah, I smile and think they mean my city and/or the greater Omaha area.

They don't have connections to the Luthor surgeons anymore. They have to get Oliver's help now because the Luthors just are out of the picture right now.

Well surgery is a very broad area. You dont have "surgeons" who do everything, you have specific surgeons for specific fields, i.e. chest, head and neck etc. Maybe the best surgeons for the problem in Jimmy's case was in Star City, who do different specialities to the Luthor's. Not really a plot hole.

I highly doubt the only Cardiac, thoracic, vascular, or anything else surgeons, were only in Star City. Metropolis would have to have a relatively large number of them. With the population they have, and the disasters that keep happening around them, and in neighboring communities, they'd be one of the top places new docs would want to go to learn, and old docs would go to charge out the wazoo for treatment.
