his first barn appearance, in the dark, reminded me faintly of the bumbling iron man prototype built in iraq. i'm thinking, "great they're gonna screw this up", in the end however i was satisfied, not wowed, but satisfied. creepy though

The very first shot of Doomsday in the Barn was a full CG shot and he looked HUGE... But the rest was done with a guy in a suit and so he suddenly looked smaller.

Most of the scenes with DD were costume, when he came crashing down, that was him in the costume, he stood up with the pieces of wood/debris on him, if his back was turned to us, given the dark setting, he does look bigger. His bones are mostly on his backside, outer layer of his arm, so he's gonna look bigger from that angle. CGI was used when he transformed near the garbage bin (when his hand mutates). Also the head/face of DD looked cgi in some parts, though i thought the costume looked as real as it could get. Full cgi body would have not looked any better, plus even to attempt that would take way too long, had there been a larger budget, i would prefer the same technique they did with cgi/costume, except it probably would look better with more $$$ to spend for sfx.

I said clark merely got swatted by DD, but when i watched it again, it looked like DD just stopped clarks punch like it was nothing, and threw him effortlessly up into the loft, seems DD is already stronger than clark from what i seen, or clark is holding back. I definately think smallville did a good job with DD, you really can't compare it to big screen movies for sfx with regards to the budget, but for a first time live version of DD on t.v they did a fantastic job, i enjoyed the episode.

What were expecting? Somethign to look right out of the comic books...DD looked like a creature you'd see in reality. Did you want him to be muscular like the incredible hulk in full cgi and look like a cartoon, or like someone cut and pasted a comic book drawing and edited into a movie?? DD had muscles, but he wasn't stocky and didn't have a big frame like a weight lifter or something, but maybe cause he's still evolving, maybe he's not fully complete. Or maybe thats the look they went with. His face is pretty much right on from comics/drawings, however i guess his body could've been thicker or wider but i still think they did a good job considering its a t.v series, not a big screen movie. I think your biggest let down is the fact that we didn't see enough DD shots and most wanted more action, but given the name of the episode, it was about a wedding, not so much clark vs DD, i'm sure the writers know thats what the fans want and expect good action scenes, when the time comes they'll do it.

True, but he was confronting a monster. I'm sure in his mind, he thought it was a beast with great strength, but not enough to stop his attack. Keep in mind he still doesn't know much about the threat that is Doomsday.
