View Full Version : Did Clark fall right into Brainiac's trap?

First he used Chloe to get to Doomsday, then he got Clark to take Chloe to the FOS by infecting her, and now Brainiac has infected the FOS.
Im thinking he did this to get Clark to erase his connection with Chloe (he knew Clark would use the FOS to save her), break his connection from Jor-EL, and at the same time recreating the FOS which is the only way to free Zod from the phantom zone. Now Clark's 2 closest people are gone and he's basically alone.

Yes, he did and it is not the first time that he has manipulated Clark's emotions to deceive him.
In Solitude, Brainiac infected Martha and blamed Jor-El so he could trick Clark into destroying the FOS. That led to Zod almost being released and Clark's near death.
A similar thing happened with Lex in Vessel when Clark released Zod.

Brainiac always seems to find a way to be the thorn in Clark's side lol but then again I guess thats why he's Brainiac...always finding a way to try and accomplish his mission. We all know that Brainiac just won't go away he always finds a way back and I enjoyed how the show has brought him back in this season. He has been a constant threat to Clark since season 5 with most villians the shows only focus one season on them then they get disregarded.
Will Clark ever be able to outwitt Brainiac? He always seems to fall into his traps. In season 5 Brainiac knew that Clark would try to destroy him by throwing the dagger at him thus opening the portal for Zod. In season 6 Brainiac knew Clark would focus most of his attention on Lana being infected to notice the bigger picture going on around allowing Brainiac to take over Kara and influence Lex who in the end was the cause of the self destruction of the fortress and Clark losing his powers.
And now he's taken over Chloe which lead to the contamination of the fortress.
Brainiac sure knows what he's doing!

Nice summary. Brainiac uses Clark's loved ones to manipulate him. Jonathan, Martha, Lana, Lex, and now Chloe.

Brainiac certainly knows Clark's weaknesses better than anyone.

Zod is NO LONGER in the Phatom Zone member'?
he infected chloe (cause she could handle it self healing and all) on purpose and little by little got her worse, sent Clark the crystal cause he knew what he would do with it, Got it to basiclly jump start Doomsday! then Chloe and boom now he's in control of the FOS and he will let Clark try to kill DD and then Clark can't kill DD ever again.......after all he did just go back in time to put DD on Clarks ship. He had to thats why Davis showed up all of the sudden after 8yrs of the show.

I thought Raya's crystal sent him back to the phantom zone?

Yep...he played right into it.

No, it didn't send him to the PZ. The crystal removed Zod from lex's body, and it flew up towards the sky, not into the crystal. When Kara asked Clark if he destroyed Zod, he didn't answer because he doesn't know where exactly did Zod go.

That was so sad. You can't blame Clark. Please don't. We all know he will blame himself, and its so sad to watch him struggle.

He thought he was doing the right thing but it was wrong to ignore Chloe's feelings about knowing his secret.

Why do you think Brainiac got Chloe to meet Doomsday? What is the reasoning there? Now Doomsday is infatuated with Chloe, but why?

I do feel bad for Clark. It was obviously a hard choice for him....but I also dont think it was his choice to make. :\

Brainiac has been following a plan from the time he infected Chloe. Clark does not look good in this.

i belive the only way for him to defeat brainiac is to think UNclark like :P, Cuz brainiac always knows his next move, it's like putting a trale of candy and letting a kid follow it bit by bit untill he's lost in the forest or what ever, clark has to relize this, but i bet Doomsday will be getting most of his attention! :)

Its Brainiac for god sakes!! Stop picking on Clark. In the comics and other incarnations, Supes always had problems with Brainiac.

Yes, this is the third time but Brainiac is clever, so we have to cut him some slack.

Yeah, it would've been much better if Clark hadn't rebuilt the FOS, and hadn't brought Chloe there to try and save her life. That way, Brainiac wouldn't have taken over the FOS. So, obviously Clark choosing to help Chloe in the only way that was available to him, and in the only way he knew how, proves how stupid he is
Basically, again, as in the past, the show sets up a situation where Clark is going to fail in some way. Because no matter what choice he makes, there's going to be a bad outcome (and no, I'm not talking about the memory thing). Sure, he could've...what?...locked Chloe in a room? What else could he do but take her to the FOS. Yes, that means Brainiac, being brainiac and all, manuevered the situation. He is a super intelligent computer, after all. But would anyone have preferred Clark not take Chloe there, and not have Jor-El try to save her mind? Would that have made Clark smarter?

MOD EDITThat's why I said we need to cut him some slack. Also, in another post I said I hate that the writers have put Clark in another situation where he is partly responsible for a catastrophe. MOD EDIT

I'm still a little unclear how Jor-El had no idea that Brainiac would infect the fortress. He can spot meteor showers from space that are about to hit earth but he can't figure out that Brainiac is alive and well inside the fortress? If anybody looks like an idiot in this episode, it would be Jor-El.

Very true, Jor-El would look like the idiot lol he even knew about Doomsday, and he couldn't do anything to stop brainiac from infecting him haha, well we will see what happens

What exactly did Clark fall for? He had two options...screw Chloe over and do nothing, which would then lead to Chloe's death and more problems for him if Brainiac successfully took over her body or take her to the fortress and save her. Now I admit that Brainiac infecting the fortress is a big deal and it should certainly play out that way in the next couple of episodes, but Clark had no way to prevent that and to be honest, the fortress of solitude is a place that Jor-El needs to keep safe, not Clark. If Jor-El can't realize that Brainiac is in the fortress during that last Clark scene, then there's no way that I can expect Clark to realize it.

It's a line CK used quite often on the show...It's all my fault!!!
Clark's weakness is not only kryptonite, his feelings are too.Brainiac knew that by infecting his best friend,CK will fall into his trap. When you attack the people that he love and care about,he will do anything to help them even if that means to make terrible decisions.

What exactly did Clark fall for?
This is the third time that Clark has unwittingly played into Brainiac's hands. But, like I said, Brainiac is cunning so that's why I don't think he should be needlessly criticized.

Exactly. Brainiac has always used Clark's feelings to manipulate him.

If you guys watched Bloodline Faora said that Zod was gone. The crystal took Zod's essence, and then when it took Baern's Clark use the energy of both of them to repower the fortress.

Zod is dead/trapped in Clark's supes crystal. He will never be heard from again cause the crystal doesn't send you to the phantom zone...it traps you inside it (so far as i know).
