I like how chloe said clark drives like a grandma cuz its a 2 hour trip. It does seem strange that they all want to make this 2 hour drive to and from metropolis daily. I dont get why it has to be that far away really, why not be 45 minutes away, that would make it a somewhat reasonable distance.

Yeah, not only it's two hours away, again, but Chloe asked Clark not to do the trip in his truck because it would take to long (something about him driving like an old woman) but she was going to cover the distance in a SCOOTER!

So now we have Jimmy living at the talon to save money for the wedding, driving two hours to work every day and never complaining about the expense of the fuel or the distance.

LOL I noticed that too. It made me laugh. I honestly wondered if it was a joke from the writers, as AlMiles had consistently messed up the whole distance to Metropolis thing beyond believable rectification.:p

The earthquake on Dark Thursday squished Smallville and Metropolis closer together, and Chloe doesn't remember it.

...that's my theory anyway

and back in "truth" when Pete slipped about Clark running to get hot dogs, Chloe said he's going to drive THREE hours to get hot dogs??

i think you are right and dark thursday must have moved smallville and metropolis closer together!

gotta love this wacky show!

Oh man I didnt even catch the scooter part haha. Also the gas mileage in scooters are pretty good these days so maybe the truck was a bad choice. Could you see clark on a scooter? Haha

I don't think Chloe actually specified if that was 2 hours one way or round trip. An hour drive one-way might be stretching it, but it wouldn't be completely unreasonable to live in Smallville and work in Metropolis with that distance.

yeah who cares my mate goes to college everyday in the morning and it takes him nearly 2 hours, though it is London and he takes 2 trains lol. 2 hours is not that far, maybe with a car but since theres not that much people in smallville im sure they can just speed it in the car so it doesn't seem that long lol

Gas is down to $1.86 around here. ;)

I just think of "two hours", "three hours", "couple"/"few" hours as exagerations. The distance is really more like 45 minutes, as you can see Metropolis from a Smallville windmail and Lionel once stated the town was just outside Metropolis. People exagerate.

Down here prices never go down, so we still pay astronomic sums for fuel (and we export petroleum). Anyway, I understand your point, it was an exaggeration. Clark was trying to test Chloe's memory with his offer (and mope a little for the loss).

I like how they mentioned it. I was just saying in another thread that they should make Lois mention it but Chloe did it instead. I think she was exaggerating about the 2 hour drive, but its still less that last time which was 3 hours.

My mum used to drive 45 minutes to work everyday. I think they're just rounding up... when they say an hour.

That's my thought exactly. Chloe never specified that it was one way. I actually interpreted it as a 2hr round trip. Meaning that Metropolis is likely about a 45 min drive.

It's because I'll buy stuff like aliens with super-powers, Fortresses of Solitude arising from strange Kryptonian crystals, meteor rock infection causing strange mutations in humans - no problem. But I want Internal Continuity!

If TPTB are setting up a plot and backstory and all that, OK. But once you've set it up, be consistent with it.

So, if in the show, they say "Metropolis is three hours away" or "two hours away", or they imply it's right next door (based on actions of characters apparently making it from Metropolis to Smallville (or vice versa) in ten minutes or less), I get annoyed.

You've set up a world. Live within the rules you've set.

i completely agree !
i mean wouldn't Jimmy want to complain ?
I would .
because , that would mean i would have to fuel up the tank like ;
every 3-4 days .

A 2 hour round trip wouldn't be unreasonable at all. I live about 45 minutes from DC but during rush hour it can easily take an hour or longer to get to the city, which is where I went to high school and worked there for a while. And gas prices in the DC area aren't the worst I've seen, but until recently they were pretty damn high. It's just something you adjust to and learn to live with.
