THere is always music. Just because there are no lyrics does not make it any less music.

Dan, HOW do you find out what music is used in the episode? They're so obscure, and most of them don't even have lyrics. I'm impressed.
It's unfortunate that the songs they've used this season don't seem to be available anywhere.

I would like to know too.
btw I take non-lyrical music and remove dialogue(where actors are speaking).

Oo u know a good program to remove dialogue from a piece? Please share! :) I've been trying so many different things, but with very little success.
ETA: Doesn't feel like score has gotten enough space this season I think, not like previous seasons anyway.

I use a free program called "Audacity"
and this tutorial- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqXiKYG3J7M
I can only remove dialogue though, not sound effects.

Some works, some don't. It depends where you get audio from. Some turned out really good.

I could've sworn I posted this question yesterday:
If Audacity can remove the dialogue from a scene, can it do the opposite and remove the musical score from the dialogue?

Dan you are the man, I had a wee scally at The Definitive Smallville Soundtrack website and it is....righteous! I'm a music nut, and the songs on Smallville are the ones I bore my family with (their response is usually "what the heck is this??")....you have a real love for what you do or you would never have suffered what you did (read the history, you're definitely persistent!!). Nice to see some people who are as obsessive about music, and Smallville music in particular, as me :D
