This was quite an entertaining episode...... But it might be Kara's last episode, and it did not answer the biggest question about her since she was first introduced on the show: If Clark and Kara are the same age now, how will Supergirl be so much younger than Superman in the future? You can't make them the same age! That would be like making Batman and Robin the same age!
I'm glad there was some comic reference about the surving city of Kandor, but the big question still needs to be answered.

She is younger by about a year.

they could play it like "she spent so much time superspeeding through the galaxy she didn't age at the same rate as Clark did." It's a kind of pseudo-sciency answer since time does differ as speed increases

maybe i'm not understanding the question right, but i thought she was in suspended animation until the ship surfaced. clark was aging all these years, she wasn't, its quite easy for her to be younger

oh i get it, perhaps that will be answered, or are you thinking of another supergirl

Yes, she was in suspended animation.
I think you're right, she would still be younger while Clark aged during that time.

She's a couple years younger already. Clark's 22, Kara's 20 at this point.

right now they're still too close in age. There's traditionally around 15 years difference between them in age, in other versions

I thought it was already established that she was actually older than Clark on Krypton, but when she landed on Earth, she was stuck in suspended animation, giving her the appearance that she was younger but in fact much older and much wiser...Unless I'm just getting the storyline from the comics crossed with one of the episodes where they explained it..

No you are right. Kara is the older cousin when they were on Krypton. She was a teenager when Kal-El was born. However, her ship got stuck under the dam an she was in suspended animation for many years. She should be in her early to mid 30's she is probably at least 15 years older than Clark.

Now she is even younger because Clark kept aging while she was frozen in time in the zone.
Well, she would have stopped aging in the Phantom Zone. As for Kandor, it is obviously somewhere "different". Maybe the laws of physics are also "different" there. Otherwise, there would be lots of Mini-Supermen & Mini-Superwomen flying around the galaxy. <G>

On the show, Clark is suppose to be 22, and I thought Kara was suppose to be about 17......... But in the future, Clark becomes Superman at age 29, and then after a few years of being Superman (let's say when he's 31) he meets 17 year old Kara.

In SV, Kara's older than Clark. She's really in her 30's now, even though she looks like she's 20. Even though her body didn't age, she's still older and was born about 15-16 years before Clark.

Even though Kara was born before Kal chronologically, and has existed almost 20 years longer than him, physically she's still 19; she stopped aging while Clark grows into his mid 30s. So technically she's younger than him.
I don't think there's any way to fix that on this show, they're just gonna be closer in age. Of all the liberties they've taken it's one I mind the least.

Sam here. The one that bugs me is Lex's recognition of Clark as an alien. I kept pointing out how they could have fixed that & they never did.

At the time of "Bloodline", I view Kara as still physically 19 (though likely going on 20 soon), as she was sent to the Phantom Zone less than a year after being released from her ship and hence didn't age in the Zone. Clark is physically 22 at the moment, so I'd say there's a difference of about 2 and a half years between them. That ain't too bad.
But in the future, Clark becomes Superman at age 29
Clark's age in becoming Superman varies through out incarnations. He could be 30 (Chris Reeve movies), 29 (as you pointed out), 27 (Lois & Clark), or even 25 (Birthright). I believe the oldest he was still Superboy was in the live-action syndicated series, where at the end of its 4th season, he was 22. Clark'll physically be 23 by the end of Season 8, so it'll be plausible for him to become Superman by then IMO.

'How will Supergirl be younger than Superman?' Um, she won't be, at least not by more than a few years. Certainly not the drastic age difference they had in the comics. And honestly I don't mind at all. Frankly, this is at the very bottom of the list of iffy things Smallville has done. I like this more mature version of Kara better than the immature teenager one portrayed in the animated series, anyway, so I'm not bothered by it.

Then Kara could never be Supergirl, she'd have to be called Superwoman.... Can Batman and Robin be the same age? No.
I think Kara needs to be frozen for 10 years.

I'd think of Batman Forever and Batman & Robin, but then I'd stab myself in the ear with something

Actually, Kara could still become Supergirl (however, only through sexist naming). Also, Kara going directly to being Superwoman (instead of being ''Supergirl'') is something I can live with.

My simple answer to the title question is, "I dont care."
It isnt that important part of the superman mythos thereby isnt important in any way to me.

They have updated versions of all these characters on the show. They won't do it the same as the comics. I doubt they will make any attempt to create a vast age difference between them.
In the Smallville universe, Kara is 15-20 years older, but she was in suspended animation while Clark was growing up. Therefore, in terms of actual years living, experiencing, and aging, she is like 2 years or so younger.
I think that is fine, and he has gone through WAY more than she has. That is why it worked with him giving her advice on her powers and behavior on Earth. He will always have that edge on her, so their relationship can remain the same. They just didnt go with a bigger age difference here. Nor should they. It works.

Can someone explain this to me.
Last season it was revealed that Lara and Jor-El came to Earth prior to Krypton's destruction and Kara followed them, she had to be atleast 9-10 years old, Clark was less than a year old. It took about 6 years to come to Earth, so Kara should be about 15-16 years old when she arrived on Earth with Clark. 15 years passed and Clark is about 20 that should make Kara atleast 30!!!!!!! How the flip is she younger or the same age as Clark. FOR EXAMPLE: LETS SAY that Kara was only 6 at the time she followed Lara, that STILL should make her 26!!! Someone explain.
FYI, Kara being six was just an example, she had to be atleast ten.
