I watch a lot of Heroes and 24, so I really enjoyed the "Previously on Smallville" intro. I'm used to it being only on series Premieres and finales, but having it in the middle of the season was a nice touch. It kind of made the episode feel like a direct continuation from Prey. Smallville could benefit greatly from direct episode-to-episode continuation stories, just like 24 and the Exile/Phoenix 2-part story in season 3.
I really hope we get more 2-part episodes, I love them. I think Odyssey should have spanned it's entire story over two episodes to.

Yes, well, I completely agree with you, 'unfocused'. It's great for the story and fun to watch when they do a 'Previously on Smallville Intro.' summary. Usually, the New episode has some direct connection to every referenced previous episode in the Intro. It's just tonight, my DVR had a Glitch and plastered large blue messeges in the middle of the TV screen! I missed the WHOLE Intro. while trying to get it to operate right!! I had a fit! I guess NOW, I will have to watch it again somehow online.

I commented on that too when they did the previously bit. I was like "wait, they don't usually do that O_o". I love it though :D Wish they would do it more often

It was a nice touch to summarize and many may not have noticed and took it for granted. The have done it on other seasons not for just the finale or premier but when they have a continuation. I noticed it more later in the season though that I've seen the previously on Smallville bit. This time it was pretty early. I guess it just needed to go along to help summarize the previous episodes. Good job for someone who may have missed the last one but watched this one before catching up.
Awesome, they should do that all the time just like untouched said about Heroes, which I love too.

I hear what you folks are saying -- it is nice to see what TPTB think is the most important progression up until the present episode -- but I'd rather have the minute back as episode time.

I agree. Adding these to the beginning of an episode helps show continuity, and anyone who misses some eps can still watch (not that I have ever missed an episode, mind you!!! :) ) It also kind of gives it an epic starting point, IMO. :)

I'm sure you meant this in all seriousness... but I just found it really cute

As it was happening I looked over at my wife and said, there's going to be a lot of stuff that happens in this episdoe because they never put in reminders like this. And I was right. Best episdoe of the season by far. I actually look at Clark and can see Superman now. For years (especially seasons 6-7) I wondered how he was ever going to start to make that leap.

Yeah, I actually really liked this previously on Smallville because it showed how a lot of seemingly small things were coming together in this episode. It very much reinforced the Brainiac influence, and seemed to suggest Chloiac may have stolen Tess's crystal. It also was about the only way to tie together Ollie gives up the Quiver arc. Man, blink and you miss that.
