Maybe because Adam did die, which we assumed he couldn't, based on the similarity of his and Claire's powers.

So you don't think Adam's ashes/dust will reconfigure to make him alive again? Anything is possible on this show! (Unless I missed an episode where they said how Adam could die this way or similarly.)
