9/10
The only things I didn't like are (1) the first scene that Clark had with Chloe and Jimmy after they were released was odd. He didn't ask them how they were or anything. I have a feeling there was some cut material there. And (2) Chloe was sounding a bit like Lana in that last scene with Jimmy, but I like the way it ended.
It's too bad that Lois covered her confession to Clark, and that Clark didn't get to answer the psyco's question, but I don't mind that much, because I'd rather the Clois be slowly built to.
Overall, it had nice humor and action, nice character moments and continuity, and Clark was great as usual (we even saw superbreath again!). :)
And next week looks amazing!

I wonder If LOIS lied when she said that she had removed the sensor off her finger when she was asked if she loved Clark, given her body language and the way she was avoding Clark my bet is on that she was lying thru her teeth on that elevator, because she is so afraid of relationships and any kind of comitment...

I loved this episode. I gave it a 9. This was IMHO the best episode in probably the past couple of years. The only thing that bugged me a little was the kryptonite bracelet. How cheesy, but I understand you have to have something that makes Clark weak to build dramatic tension.

This season has been comedy gold. The whole test thing seemed like a ripoff of Saw. I loved drunk Lois. Clark and her make a cute fake couple. I'm not really all that happy with Tess and Oliver having something but I did find it funny when he called her Mercy. As for X I'm clueless to who it is right now. The preview looks really creepy.

I'll give this one a 9. Despite the fact that I don't buy Chloe's love for Jimmy and Clois is as subtle as a sledgehammer (and Lois is about as likeable as one), I liked this episode. Good stuff from Welling and Durance (who really looks great with darker hair) and the villain this time had an interesting little set-up. Though what's with Chloe, Jimmy, Lois, and Clark running into every kind of psycho imaginable all the time? They graviate towards these four.
Good stuff also between Ollie and Tess and the scene with Ollie walking in on Clark and Lois at the store was great.
Bring on Doomsday!

I liked certain parts of the episode but thought the jewelry vendor turned jumper cable shocker destroyer was a bit odd. Its just kind of weird how you have a fine jewelry store, with very expensive items (I mean, Oliver Queen shops there) and then you have this dungeon right underneath that looks like something out of a Doom video game.
The general plot was weak and didn't really advance the story much other than to hint at the future relationship between Clark and Lois, and send Chloe on a hike. However, I enjoyed the bit at the end when Lois had to say it. And how did shocker destroyer get a Kryptonite bracelet? I also didn't care much about Jimmy's family...I thought he was going to say something more :gulp: shocking.
I still wouldn't have missed the episode though.

The storyline in this episode was very good. We get to see Oliver and Tess heating things up with a cat and mouse game that has no bounderies. Clark discovers that Lois does love him. And that Chloe is finally over her long felt feelings for Clark. But i would not be surprised if Chloe just used her power to mess with the machine. All and all a good story with alot of triangles in it. Very well acted with a good amount of drama and just that hint of action to keep us along for the ride. I give this episode an 9+

Good episode overall. Outside of the Chimmy stuff (I just don't care for those two anymore) I enjoyed everything else. In a bizarre way the villain actually made sense. The Clois interaction was good and it was nice to get some background on Ollie/Tess.
TW looked hot as usual and I'm loving ED's darker hair this season.

Even though I realize the plot of this episode was based mostly on a gimmick, I still gave it an '8' because it was just fun. In addition, a number of the relationships were handled particularly well in this episode, and I definitely support Chloe and Jimmy more than ever!
Also, for some reason I felt that the cinematography of this episode was just slightly above average. I really liked the way some of the sequences were filmed - in particular the duel between Oliver and Tess. Although I'm not always looking for small details like this, I definitely notice them from time to time and I thought that a lot of the camera work was spot on in this episode.

This episode got the highest vote from me this season (so far). I give it a solid 7. This episode is certainly moving in the right direction. THE BAD: The whole Chimmy "thang" still makes me gag and I'm not sold on their.... what-ever-it-is (with or without the lie-O-meter), but (THE GOOD) I like ED and TW's chemistry. Go Lois & Clark! THE DOWN RIGHT UGLY: Oh, and the Tess & Ollie fling thing is starting to make my stomach turn too (I'm not feelin' GA on this one), but I will be back to comment about this episode in more detail another time...

This is a hard episode for me to judge, because there was some stuff I really liked, some stuff that I cared absolutely nothing about, some stuff that was forced, and some stuff that was rushed, yet continues to work. S8 is a very different flavor, but I find that I get a lot of enjoyment out of the episodes, flaws and all.
This episode should get huge props, and a good score, for Clark alone! My God, what a difference a bunch of showrunners make, eh? Smart, resourceful, well spoken, caring, heroic, FUNNY, snarky....he's just so great. I've been waiting a long time to see TW really take Clark to maturity and he's doing such a magnificent job. I don't have one complaint about Clark in this episode, and I'm just so glad they are finally writing him as smart and capable. And did I mention funny?
There were some moments with Lois that made me wince. I'm not thrilled that they continue to do the "Lois drinks" thing with her, and even as apologetic as she was in the aftermath, she did act like a jerk at Chloe's engagement party. And while I am enjoying the Clois banter for the most part, there are those moments where she says something that I feel goes clearly over the line, and it stops being teasing, and starts being insulting. I wish the writers would take better care. But I do enjoy seeing vulnerable Lois, and she did have a lot of very funny lines.
I really have missed the Chloe/Lois scenes, so I hope that this is a vision of more to come. I guess that spoiler about Lois pimping Chlark was changed?
The villian was a bit lame, and the mask made it hard to understand what he was saying.
I wish I could like Chimmy. I know the show is making it very obvious that its TruLuv4ever and all, but I just don't feel any heat or chemistry between AM and AA, and I don't see that changing.
I don't care at all about Oliver/Tess, and I thought it was a waste of time. Given how Oliver is acting with Tess, I find myself thinking that he was never in love with Lois at all.
Hmmm, Lois' confession? It was a very well acted scene. But I'm really conflicted about it. I do think the last elevator scene between Clois handled it in a fun way, that leaves the question still out there. But I don't think there can be any doubt that Lois has definite feelings for Clark now. Clark is a bit more ambigious.
I gave it an 8 :)

I have nothing bad to say about this episode, I completely loved it. Had my heart pounding when Lois was about to confess her love for Clark, and omg Tom's arms looked delicious so big and muscular, woohoo. I thought it was a sexy, funny, full of action episode, even Jimmy was cute, Chloe looked beautiful. I thought Tess was super evil, ouch what she said to Oliver after they had their night...tough girl. And Well Clark and Lois last scene is classic, I loved his face when she walked out and said what would have been his answer, the expression on his face and eyes, precious. Thanks Smallville! :)

I thought this was gonna be a lame epi because of the lame plot. But I was wrong.
overall I have to say I really enjoyed the episode. Loved the humor! :)
Clark was GREAT, and HOT!
My fellow CHlarkers may hate me but I really got a kick out of drunk Lois, and Clark helping her, and when posing as a couple, especially the scene where Oliver walked in
The part where they entered the awaiting Talon "love-nest" was amazing! Loved Clark's reaction to the handcuffs! and the romantic side of Jimmy.
Loved Oliver's scenes with Tess as well! :p They act very well together. I enjoy watching them, maybe more than he and Erica. :p
the CHlo-Lo was great as they always are! :)
the Chimmy was a little odd, I mean why hadn't they already discussed what happened to Jimmy with Maxima? He should have known that she knew about that. So he didn't have to lie and get her electrocuted! That was silly. :\

I seriously have no idea how people could vote for the worst option -- I can understand for the lack of Chlark and Clana but honestly people should give this episode a MAJOR point just because Clark was acting like a real hero and of course -- I think ALL the actors and actresses did AMAZINGLY in this episode. People should rate this episode by counting all the points from every scenes and acting -- not just merely for the ship.

Ok here i go . I did not like this episode because the relationship stuff with the lie detector tests has nothing to do with character development. Im gonna have to have my husband take me to the ER from the fridgerator and kitchen sink that got thrown at me during this episode . LOVE chimmy LOVE clois it is like bad hyptnotism.
It's like invasion of the brainwashers LOL ! Can we see a couple grow or do we need to be bashed in the head a few more times ?
I would have more respect for this episode if they showed certain characters falling in love rather then telling us with lie detectors . The whole chloe does not love anyone else .... please come on yeah i believe that one after reading the ps3 interview in the smallville magazine ? We know where chloe's heart really lies ? come on !
Tess is ruthless i like her . Oliver whats up with him ? Drinking and stuff ? hmm ? a little regression there buddy ? Could Oliver been alittle more upset by seeing Lois and Clark ?
It was so fake !
Now jimmy comes from a broken family UGH ! come on what is this dog poop ?
I did like drunk Lois obnoxious as ever ! LOL that was funny and the next moring gee she must really want into those fram boy pants cause either poisoned lipstick or alcohol she has to ask if they did the mambo ?
i don't blame the girl at all ! i really don't .
The whole lie detector thing im sorry people don't like it at all it was big huge anvil that was disguised as a lie detector test to push more anvils in our faces.
Come on Lois is in love with Clark ? and chloe no longer loves Clark ? what about season 7 " JOREL I LOVE YOUR SON "
im not saying Lois can't be falling for Clark like a crush or attraction but love ? I can't believe this !
Im so happy she took it back ! it is way too early for that ! I need more than comic books to sway me in that direction. i need passion and i need to see why she is good for him , not be told or pushed by comic books. this is televison , not paper, let me feel something don't tell me or push me, show me the fire between these two , show me why they belong . i have not seen one thing , not one . only comic books and people saying it's the future is all i hear from people . i want it from ps3 show me. stop dropping refridgerators on my head , tell your story ,stop relying on comic books to fill in the blanks.
And as far as Chloe not loving clark i don't buy it . I believe she loves jimmy but it is a different love , you can never love one person the same because we are all different.
yes she loves jimmy but i still feel if clark were to say hey chloe i love you it would seriously mess up her head.... why? because those feelings are not gone , they will never be gone and you guys have said it yourself in interviews , so are you all liers ?
Chloe i think may be over Clark but i still think she loves him , maybe even deeper than romance. a deep platonic love that is not family but is not romance either . point the finger at yourself PS3 you created it !
I really don't buy into this episode . sorry but im happy for those of you that liked it . atleast some people arehappy with what there being fed.
for me no thanks i'll pass im not hungry .
oh btw allison mack looked absolutely beautiful in this episode. clark kent was wonderful and exciting and manly i realy liked that ! loved the part where Lois picked up the handcuffs that was great ! clarks expression was funny as hell .
the best scene for me was the bedromm scence with the handcuffs that was funny .
after seeing this episode im going back to ageless i would much rather watch that .
i gave this episode a 1 because it was all too pushy and to many lightswitchesfor my taste . ciao and good night.

Fantabulous episode!!! It had a lil bit of everything……….it was really heavy on the ships but it worked… <O:p</O:p
Things I liked:
-CLOIS…..I love how they interact and how everything is building up…….
-Chloe & Jimmy finally moving forward
-Tess” I had an itch and u scratched it What a b****!!! I still haven’t got her figured out…..

Things that were so-so:
-The villain, not enough back story on that……

Things I didn’t like:
-The kryptonite watch…..wtf??? I know it was necessary to weaken him, but they could have used a more ingenious way of placing it in the equation.
-Lois covering up her confession!

Can’t wait till next week…it looks like a good n’ dark episode….

because it is people's free god given right to not have to agree with everybody . for me personally this episode lacked development . i want to see and feel a couple why they belong not be pushed by a lie detector test . clark is being more supermanly imo and thats right i did not only judge based on ships . clark kent was the only thing i liked in this episode thus the 1 rating had it not been for clark i would have given it a zero .
1 point for clark kent.
oliver 's acting in the jewlery shop was awful imo. the whole engagement store thing with muffin and poopsie or what ever was over nauseatiing and bad writing . tess was good i should have changed my rating to a number 2 cause tess was ruthless and i liked that .
8 - A shipy shipper episode for sure. Loved Clois as usual. Tom and Erica have great on screen chemistry. Loved the scene were Ollie walks in on Lois and Clark in the jewerly shop. Lois had me laughing out loud throughout the episode. The love doctor is definately out... of his mind...

Heard of Hidden feelings? and heard of people tend to be in denial when it comes to having feelings for someone close to you? I think Lois had the feelings deep inside -- it's us that chose to see it or plainly ignore it.
And I think the love question is involving being having it in a romantic way -- Chloe obviously moved on -- and I think when she told Jor El that, she didn't mean it in a romantic way, so it's different.
We've seen so many weird villains and I think this crazy dude is not so different than them -- he somehow reminds me of the crazy Dean Cain.

I absolutely love this episode. Was it seething with Special FX's no, was it the most original plot, no, but there was great charm about it. I love Lois and Clark. Erica Durance looks amazing this year. Thankfully they let her change her hair. Tom seems so happy to be there and playing something different! I think the whole show has a freshness about it. Factor me into those who want a Th Season if the show continues to be good. The effects were great, there just wasn't a lot of them, but the story was so good there was no need. LOVED IT!
I just noticed though everyone always seems to vote 10 every week! LOL

I gave the episode a 6. I didn't like the jewelry-shop scene either. The only thing that redeemed it was Clark's ambivalence. I didn't think it was cute at all.
The party and elevator scenes were cute, though I didn't care for Lois's cover. Not that I would have expected her to pull a Juliet or anything; it just wasn't done as well as it could have been.
I really liked the morning-after scene and the Clark/Lois torture scene.

I give it a 9 and a half. It was mostly good, but it had it's bad moments.
Good stuff:
Comedy gold tonight. It's been awhile since I laughed like that.
(And wasn't just because I was tired, either.)
The engagement party was cute, I guess.
(Reminded me of my friend's, only hers was much, much smaller.)
Lois. I actually liked her tonight. Mostly because I could totally empathize
with her on being envious. And her offscreen drunk antics? OMG, hilarious!
(It's almost better when they're in offscreenville because then it's all up
to your imagination.) 'Hangover Lois' is funny.
As is 'Fake Commitment Lois' and 'I'm-Denying-Everything Lois'.
I almost feel like I could ship Clois now, the episode was that good.
Clark, Lois and Olly in the engagement store scene.
Beautiful. Just beautiful. (In that hilarious, comedy gold way.)
I enjoyed the last elevator scene.
(Clark looked so hot! And he had the pushed up sleeves. And he
was actually wearing a tie. Whoo!)
Kyrptonite watch. Hmm. Right now I'm thinking it's one of the more original
uses, but I might think it's lame tomorrow.
Bad stuff:
I have to agree with everyone else, Chimmy was dragged out. To death.
You love eachother, we get it. I don't understand why this one 'ship is being shoved
in our faces so much. It's not like it's gonna make or break the show. Can't they just let it be in the background? Even just a little bit?
Tess/Olly. Um...I don't like it, however I did enjoy
Olly in his boxers. (And wrapped up in a sheet. HELLO. Don't like the circumstances, but I love the eye-candy.)
My only complaint there was that I didn't
get to see enough chest. They kept cutting it out of the shot.
Olly doesn't need a GF right now, and he really doesn't need Tess in his life,
IMO. She'd just complicate things.
Jimmy is so...ugh! I don't even have words.
He gets engaged, then after everything, suddenly he decides
to tell her about his parents. (I can accept why he did it, but it
was just rediculous to tell her this late and not earlier.)
Other:
I didn't think the villian was intirely lame, but I didn't think he was totally awesome either. Sure, being cheated on and torturing couples is interesting, but something felt
off about him. Maybe it was the fact that he was hiding his identity that made it less
exciting. (Plus you knew who he was right away. Like that was hard to figure out.)
I think that's everything. (Besides the fact that I want to burn Clark's red jacket?)

yes i have heard of hidden feelings im 30 years old. well if it was hidden feelings that is different. but they fail to explain that in the episode and with lois's facial expresions i would say that it is not so hidden.
as for chloe loving clark romantically or not is left for interpritaion and opinion. her question is are u in love with anyone else. she does love clark imo still but may not be " IN LOVE " with him anymore but still she loves him. and no matter what refridgerators or kitchen sinks and anvils they throw my way will not change my mind .
some love can be deeper than romance and maybe thats why the machine can't pick it up because it is a different kind of love just like i said it was .
how she loves clark and jimmy is definetly different . thus why the michine did not detect a lie . she is in love with jimmy now but she will always , always have love for clark. wether its in love , friendship or emotionally . even ps3 have n=made there little comments about everyone knows where chloe's heart really lies ? why say that ?

oh clois is really growing on me!
i can't believe that she said that she slipped the detector off of her finger.
pfffffff, i hope clark doesn't believe that,haha.
LOOOOOVE.
oh and the ollie and tess stuff was interesting.
----- Added 2 Minutes later -----
oh and i also thought it was funny that lois slept in clarks jersy, haha.
that scene reminded me of the one in "crimson" where clark and lois had that same conversation obout whether they...ya know.

*comes down from hitting the moon*
This was a mixture of "Mercy" and "Action." "Mercy" gave a nod to the film "Saw." "Action" gave a nod to Smallville shippers. LOL! This time we have a psycho who detests secrets and lies in a relationship. For that alone I was chortling before I even watched the episode.
This may be the BEST filler episode of Smallville EVER! I hesitate to call it filler because I enjoyed it so much. It was just very well done. Usually relationships are the least enjoyable thing about Smallville. They may start out good and interesting but then they just beat around the bush; they drag things out until things become so tedious and/or angsty that... it sucks the life out of the primary plot.
So it's fun to see Smallville being direct about relationships. It's fun to see the characters being direct with each other. It's fun to see Smallville punching the relationships square in the face with this secrets and lies psycho.
Wow. Clark and Lois are just pure delight to watch on screen together. I cheered when Clark tried to leave Lois behind at the DP. She grabbed her coat and raced him to the door. The romantic comedy had me rolling and then I would catch my breath at the more heartfelt moments. The suspense played out perfectly.
I spoke with a friend not long ago about Jimmy's insecurity. And she basically said what Jimmy said near the end. Not about his parents but... that he feels like Chloe is too good for him. It was nice to see them address the root cause of Jimmy's insecurity. Especially when they didn't need too. I think most viewers were fine with the surface, superficial, he was jealous of Clark answer. So that was good.
I laughed, I cried, my heartstrings were tugged. I had so much fun! Season 8 is shaping up to be my favorite season. It's like they are getting the romance out of the way at the beginning so the second half of the season can be ACTION PACKED!
That's what I hope anyway. Poor Davis. :(

I gave it a six, although, now afterward I feel that I might have been a little harsh and should have given it an eight. The only reason I was probably trigger-happy about giving it a lower score was because the episode pretty much tried to champion the Chimmy relationship (with the exception of the awesome drunken toast by Lois). I booed at my TV a lot during the Chimmy-related stuff. The other thing I didn't like that probably factored into my trigger happy 6: The stupid Saw-villain rip-off (didn't we already have one of those in season 5?) and his plot-contrived kryptonite wristwatch. Yeah, he's a jeweler, but out of all the stones in the world he chooses meteor rocks? I guess he was trying to be more unique than those emerald lovers out there.
What I did love about it though: Lois/Erica Durance. She totally made this episode bearable for me, which is something I never thought I say since it's usually Chloe who makes the show for me. Anyway, I absolutely loved Lois tonight. Erica Durance totally acted the bejeesus out of the lie detector scene when the guy asked Lois if she loved Clark. I know in the past I usually rolled my eyes at most of the whole Clois *nudge, nudge;wink, wink*/ anvil antics the writers spoon-fed us, but after tonight I think I might actually start supporting the Clois (even though I'm still annoyed at Smallville for having Clark and Lois meet before Clark decides to have dual identities, e.g. wear glasses, but I digress).
I have more thoughts on the episode, but I'm going to stop there for now.

Well i thought it was a pretty decent episode. Nothing bad to really say about the episode itself. I loved that lois got drunk at the start of the episode and then ended up at clark's and when she woke up she thought he and she got it on. That was a pretty funny scene there.
As for jimmy/chloe i know alot of people hate the relationship with them and i do too at times but tonight it wasnt that bad. There scenes were pretty good together and you can see how much they really do like each other. There scenes with the kidnapper were pretty good too. I liked the chairs/electric shocks on lies. That was pretty niffty there.
I loved the sub-plot with lois/clark decided to be a fake couple to get on the trail of the kidnapper. The scene in the jewlery store where they pretended to be a couple was very funny and so classic that ollie walked in then and they had to play up the getting married thing.
As for tess/ollie i wonder where they are going with them? Its a bit weird to see ollie hooking up with her when he knows she is pretty bad person right now and all that. It was pretty great to see lois reveal she does really love clark, to bad we didnt see clark answer his question. Though i thought it was a pretty creative way how he got rid of the kryptonite braclet the guy had on, and took him out.
As for next week's episode it looks very promising and i hope we do get to see a good glimpse of doomsday form.

I dunno I may be the few but I thought it was an ok episode. This episode felt like it should have been done in season 4 or something because I was just not feeling it. As of lately Smallville has been disappointing. Just when I thought the episode of Green Arrow origin was going to be good but turn out for the weak. They made this into more of a soap opera with tess and green arrow and Lois is now all of a sudden over Ollie... Shouldn't Ollie be out there saving the world instead of fooling around with Lex soon to be body guard...
Anyways I hope the Doomday episode will make a good impression like the season premiere has done. As least Supernatural was really good tonight.

I have to admit Lois is really growing on me and that's saying alot. I laughed so much during this epi because of the great banter between her and TW. I used to think they had zero chemistry but I may have been wrong...One of my absolute fav moments was the oh so subtle way Clark guided Lois away from the cab when they were walking down the street and she didn't even know it, she just continued her tirade. Priceless! I gave it an 8 just because the storyline itself was pretty lame and I am tired of hearing about Chloe and Jimmy....

Gave it a 7. Thought it was the weakest of the eps this year, though still good. It was a filler episode and basically just one that had fun with the characterrs. Always hate the missed opportunity to further the Superman mythos, with some epic quality. A little too Lois and Clark for me.

I gave it an 8.
I liked the Chlois scenes, especially the scene in the juweler, when Oliver met them there - really funny reactions of all of them
The elevator scene was good, too.
The whole kryptonite-lie-detector scene....I don't know exactly, but for me, it was too less kryptonite to have such an effect on Clark actually and the kidnapper didn't stand all the time next to Clark, so he actually could have freed himself easily IMO.
And the next weird thing was, that Lois didn't even ask him, how he was able to free himself all of a sudden and that's Lois, who always wants an explanation for everything that happens.
I didn't understand either, why the lie detector showed a reaction, when Lois answered the first question.
I mean, Clark wasn't her financé at all, so actually she would have been telling the truth if she'd answered "no, I didn't cheat on my fiancé", because she wasn't engaged at all.
No fiancé, no cheating on the fiancé possible - it's as simple at that, but the detector reacted and I found it unlogical, but well....

OMG! This episode is just great. I just finished watching it and I am still smiling. I am giddy with the emotion I felt. This episode made me laugh out loud and no other episode has ever done that.
The jewelry store scene when ollie walked in on lois and clark was just priceless. I laughed so hard oh and the look on ollie's face was brilliant!
I also love the last elevator scene. Lois was obviously avoiding clark and he was obviously waiting to hear if what she said was true about loving him. haha...her excuse was just so funny! and his reaction was great.
The drunk lois was great and after the engagement party when she woke up at the kent farm with his jersey, wow! great scene.
This is really the best season...so far!
There is one thing I dont completely understand, what's the deal with tess and ollie??? Why would ollie go to bed with tess right after he walked in on clark and lois and finding out that they're getting married??? It doesnt make sense!!
Well apart from the ollie-tess part, everything was great! So I gave it a 10!

I gave it a 7, it was a fun watch.
The premise was brainless (a lie detector villain *rolls eyes*) but the comedy redeemed it.
I really didn’t like the Tess & Ollie stuff, I just feel like it was all forced. They want Tess(now the player) to be so much like Lex that its just not making the cut. Lex was Lex, plain & simple, they needed to give Tess own persona & qualities. That way we wouldn’t have to compare her to him or see the wannbe flaws.
Jimmy is getting on my nerves, I believe if things don’t go exactly his way he will stray. He was right; a guy like him shouldn’t be getting a girl like Chloe. I find him to be a user to build up his own self esteem.
Other than that is was enjoyable, it was better than last week.

I gave this episode a 10!
It really does not take much to please me when watching Smallville.
Am I totally shallow because my good opinion of Smallville episodes is directly proportional to how attractive Clark is? Just when I thought he could not get any better looking, wardrobe puts him in the dark suit/dark shirt combo.
All the plotholes (where the heck is Gabe Sullivan?), inconsistencies (did Lois not see fire shooting out of Clark's eyes?), and soap opera cheese (Ollie scratching Tess' itch) were totally trumped by all the glorious Clois scenes.
Every scene with those two were pure gold: the opening scene with drunk Lois; the scene with hungover Lois; the two going undercover as a couple, especially in the jewelry store; the lie detector scene; and the piece de resistance, the ending elevator scene with a very confident and playful Clark (We should all get kidnapped by the Russian Mafia, it does wonders for the sexy factor).
All in all, I totally enjoyed watching this episode and immediately replayed it on my TiVo when it was over.

I'll give it a 7. I thought the idea of a guy who kidnaps soon to be married couples and puts them through a lie detector test was pretty far fetched, but putting that aside, I do like the idea of putting the characters through the lie detector. It gave us a chance to get some true answers to some burning questions.
To me the Jimmy/Chloe test was to figure out if Chloe still loves Clark. The test showed no. I guess the letter from last week wasn't enough to silence the Chlark fans. Even though I used to support Chlark, I guess the writers are telling us it's time to move on and support Clois.
2 scenes I loved. The 1st was when Ollie found Lois and Clark shopping for a wedding ring and they announced they were getting married. Haha! I was cracking up the whole time.
The 2nd scene I loved was the lie detector between Lois and Clark. I thought Lois gave an amazing performance! You could tell the last thing in the world she wanted to do was admit that she loves Clark, but she still did it to save him. To bad we didn't get an answer from Clark on the same questions. I think he might have said no, only because he is not quite over Lana and has not fallen for Lois yet.
I thought it was cute how they both tried to cover up what happened. Clark said Lois was a such a good lier she beat the machine, and Lois said she slipped the device off her finger.
I'm really on board the Clois ship now. I hope we get to see a mutual relationship between these two before the show ends.
Overall it was a fun episode to watch.

I gave it a nine, which is my first over 8 of the season. I might have given it a ten if not for the kryptonite bracelet. They could've found a better way to bring "meteor rock" into the lair... it seemed too contrived. Otherwise, best episode of the season to date.

Totally agree about the Krypto-watch-bracelet. I guess because he is a jeweller they went with a bracelet, but a krypto bomb strapped around them would have been more believeable. But then, how would Clark escape krypto strapped to his body? I'm so glad Clark saved himself and Lois and that it was not Green Arrow or Chloe saving them.

We are glad to have you back, Jim.
I thought the same thing about the heat vision, but now I think that the lines of heat are just seen by the audience, and the actual characters just see fire appear in the direction Clark is looking.
I can't stop beaming about this episode. I thought the dialogue and characterization was incredible. Not just Clois, but everyone. I finally believe that Chloe is in love with Jimmy and I want them to be happy. Even the cheesy side-soap opera with Ollie and Tess had some great lines.

First off, love the episode. Gave it a nine.clois was excellent and funny. Oliver expression and timing in the In the jeweler scene was perfect. I actually thought the writers did a great job with the psychopathic jeweler. They made me believe that it was actually evil and a psychopath. Nice job by Clark being the hero. Nice touch having a Superman reference, the "statistically speaking it is the safest way to travel"line. overall nice episode.

I just watched the episode again I have picked up on something that I have not noticed before. In the first scene with tess, her assistant, said that the Crystal message came from a ghost server. And the Isis foundation has a ghost server or a clip IP address. So I think the writer's were trying to give us a hint on who took the Crystal. If people heard that line then they should know who took the Crystal and why. Just a thought.

I totally respect your opinion but offer the following for your humble consideration:
Lois and Clark have known each other four years now and even lived under the same roof for a spell. Lois has a bond with both of Clark's parents that no other character on the show has, not even Lana who Clark was in love since the first grade.
The way Clark and Lois "banter" with each other has been a cover-up for their mutual attraction for each other since they first met four years ago. I say this because they have always been this way with each other and are not this way with anyone else on the show, not even their ex's, Lana and Ollie. Ollie pointed this (the sarcasm masking underlying sexual tension) out to them in season six. Chloe sensed it in season four. Even Lana, in season four said that the "best ones always start out this way" regarding Clark's sheer annoyance at Lois.
For about a month now, Clark and Lois have been working side by side at the Daily Planet. They work long hours and go undercover investigating stories together that end up being really intense. Clark secretly and not so secretly rescues Lois on a regular basis. How many times can you swoop in and rescue a woman before you start to have feelings for her? Ditto, for the damsel-in-distress.
And, I am not even going to mention what these two look like because everyone on Smallville is drop-dead gorgeous, so in comparison, they are just slightly more attractive than normal.

this episode was good, a few things i didn't like, the bright blue t's, please writers can't clark where a black t, or a darker blue, that blue is so vibrant that it doesn't even look like a plain old t shirt that anyone would where, same goes for the coat, its not as vibrant as the blues, a tad darker would be good. second, kryptonite, by this time clark should be gettting stronger as he ages, i think his tolerence level to green k should be higher, i also feel the use of green k is way over used, there's way too much green k in smallville, i mean realistically with amount of it used throughout the series, it almost makes it impossible for clark or superman to live on earth. so if there's gonna be that much meteor rocks from krypton, they should show clark developing a higher tolerence to it. that little bracelet, from the distance he was standing away, and it was also covered by the coat, clark shouldn't of lost all his powers, Again! if they're going to use green k, then they should use a larger amount to show that it takes quite abit of green K to completely drain clarks powers. Pieces that exploded light years away were supose to have landed on earth, not tons and tons of this stuff. the special fx were awesome, great use of his almost all of his abilities, this is more realistic approach, cause if we had powers like that you'd use all your senses and abilities. clark using super breath to blow through the wall, was awesome, the superspeed overhead cam was cool, it was nice to see that they filmed him using his abilities in real time, and more naturally.

I humbly respect your opinion but for me it is rushed ! just less then a months ago in smallville time lois said she was still in love with Ollie and ollie is no better . he obviously got over lois pretty fast. But hey lois fell foe gran too so why not clark . all iconic loves go for rebounding .
atleast clark is taking his time. that i can respect. clark mat=y have feelings of attraction for lois but atleast it is growing slowly maturing now that is believable. but her feelings IMHO change too fast . but im glad it works for you . we are all entitled to our opinions . to each there own.
so respectfully disagree . This lois falling in love with clark already and the chimmy relationship ...... general hospital music playing in the back ground .... need i say more ?:)

I really enjoyed this episode. Clark and Lois were great to watch. To me they are the most fun and Clark acts so different with her then any other character.
Oliver laughing when they said they were getting married was great. Lois saying she loves to see pants on everyone, funny.
Lois even used the word snarky last night!

10 baby 10! And this is my first 10 for the season.
Wow...I think I died and went to heaven... Loved the Lois and Clark banter and the emotional side of it all.EDlois was brilliant in my book and TW stellar as usual! It was cute, quirky and fun...the tease between Lois and Clark made me swirl...and I'm not a girly girl, no offense to the lovely ladies that are. The suspense of it all was brilliant. Jimmy and Chloe actually seem happy together and it doesn't seem like a farce, I'm starting to warm up to the whole chimmy thing...or whatever the hardcore shippers call it. Oliver is a true Queen of drooling Charisma...felt kind of bad for the blonde Lad to find out about Lois and Clark's supposed enagagement. And Tess that messy girl is getting better, I think Cassidy Freeman is fitting in quite nicely. All in all a simple 10:D

10!!
I loved this episode! Very well written and fun. I could watch this one again and again, and I haven't been able to say that for awhile.
I loved the writing in this, I loved how these characters are moving forward, it's the little things that keep me coming back and this episode was full of little moments that I loved. I was very impressed with how they are handling Lois and Clark, I just can't say enough how much I enjoyed this episode!
To the powers that be, Thank you for such a well put together episode and a great story to boot!:D:D:D

The preview looks really creepy.
i think X is LANA. I think Lana also has the crystal

THe ep was awful; a really bad ripoff of a great Lois and Clark ep. The lack of chemistry between EDlois and Clark makes every scene they're in dull as dust. This is just more lightswitching of a chacracter who has always treated Clark with nothing but disdain. I don't buy it for a second.

I loved this Episode! It was over too soon! the different relationships of the characters blended well into the story and it was so entertaining to watch.
I have to give Tom Welling credit. He is playing Clark very mature, strong, smart, and resourceful, but still vulnerable, innocent, and playful! It's been a joy to watch.
TW's facial expression's are so good, especially in his "frustrated with Lois" scenes.
Its always a plus to see Clark use multiple Powers, but also he has become quite the fighter when he is "Powerless."
I think Oliver just adds an extra little spark to the Episodes. All of the main Actors in "Committed" really excelled.
I like that Tess is multi-layered and I haven't figured her out yet.Cassidy has good Chemistry with both the Male and Female Actors and fits well in Smallville.

since I didn't mention the "Lois confession of love" when I was praising this episode, I will add here that even though it was a superb performance by Erica, I just couldn't feel it in my chest..... Neither my heart, my gut, nor my emotions were affected in any way.:( And it's pretty understandable why. There hasn't been any kind of built up history shown between her and Clark that would warrant such feelings for him. :\
It made her look like a little girl who has been secretly daydreaming about a boy from afar and believes it is true love, and we know that is far from the type of character that Lois really is.... Or is she? .... It just seemed weird.
Now if Lois was 'in lust' for him, that I could believe, and expect! and even welcome. :p
That would make sense at least, by falling in place with her history on the show thus far....
In the past few seasons it seems like we have been getting more and more episodes that leave by the wayside all those lovely emotionally charged scenes we got in the past. (almost like the writers were walking on fan-eggshells. :\
It seems they have sacrificed the real passion for ..... idk ...what?
(Well at least Tess and Oliver seemed to have some.)

All I can come up with is when she made the present company excluded line, as if, at some point there was a Chlark, ie, Clark was the first guy to show her any attention, but she went with Jimmy instead. It's a weak case. I really was expecting something along the lines of, "I think she likes you, Clark, and you should go for it before she marries someone else."

I have to say, I liked the plot, but I didn't like the way it was delivered.
This show doesn't have the same feel to it. It's just not Smallville anymore.
The setting lately, has seemed so cold, and I can't even really give an example,
it's just, a feeling. Lois was hilarious at the engagement party, and said things that
needed to be addressed. Erica has great comedic timing.
That being said, Chimmy felt forced, and I don't buy that Jimmy is her only love.
Gag me. I strive to be objective, but their relationship just doesn't feel right.
Lois is suddenly madly in love with Clark, with a deep bond. When did this start?
This is not to insult Lois, but where is the logical writing. They were barely friends at the start of season 8, now she loves him. She got over Oliver fast, didn't she.
I actually miss those two together. I think they brought out the best in eachother, with
the occasional angst.
I also miss the Chlark closeness. They used to be so warm with eachother, and now
they act so casual, almost cool. I hope this isn't permanent.
Anyway, i like Oliver, but, I don't now how I feel about the Tess/ollie thing.
I hope he isn't in the dark about her. I would like to think he's smarter than that.
Anyway, I gave this epi a three simply cause of its delivery. But, I give the plot
idea a seven.

By FAR the best in episode in the last 2 seasons of smallville.
Everything was done right, ED AND TW were brilliant in this, ED made this episode fantastic showing the many sides of Lois Lane we fans know and love, she showed her fun side (drunk), strong (side) in the chair,Weak side in the chair.
Loved the fact that after she admits it she can't look at Clark directly in the eye for the rest of the episode.
TW was brilliant, loved the elevator scene and the superman nod, i dont know what the face was at the end but it looks like Clark was debating what he would of said in the chair and i think he realized that he would of said YES and it scared him right before the elevator closed. He used quite a few powers which was great.
Chloe and Jimmy in the episode were great, but it still looks like Jimmy has some doubts about Clark, their relationship in this showed great depth and we all know that this marriage won't last.
Oliver, Clark and Lois scene was one of the funniest moments of all time in Smallville it was comedy, it was shock to the system and finally Ollie going wait WTF!!!!- if Clark and Ollie dont talk til the wedding look to see him tell Lana.....
Anyway, solid writing, great acting, great shifts in the episode from comedy, to drama, to action, to shock. I give this episode 10/10 and the title of best episode since Commencement. Please don't let KK, GOUGH AND MILLAR come in and destroy Smallville with Clana again PLEASE!!!!!
Finally Best Scene- Lois Saying She loves him and that the fact that it scared both Lois and Clark to the core.........
Also shippers don't argue in the discussion forums, this is to talk about the ep not shipping. Complaining about people suddenly falling in love is funny considering how much CLANA hell and CLEXANA hell we had in 5 and 6

10-17-2008, 05:55 PM
I gave it a 9, but I'm not exactly sure why. I mean the Clois was great, but something was missing. Maybe relating to things kind of being too easy for Clark lately, don't know. Or maybe the bad guy wasn't relatable. Or maybe it was the kryptonite seeming to be far enough away to have lost it's impact on Clark.
But the Cloisoliver was great, the confessions were great. I absolutely love the moment when Clark is releasing her and they are both trying to avoid direct eye contact. I've never seen ED do such a fabulous job. And I loved her trying to avoid him and him calling her on it and the way she was able to turn the tables on him when he thought he was just releasing her from her words, giving her that out. He didn't believe her, but it bothered him that she took it that far. And then forcing him to think about his own answer. Whoo! Good stuff.

Thank you fo paing attention.
Anyway, this episode was a 9.3. .5 was lost because of how Oliver was handled (lost a bit of respect for him in this episode) and .2 becuase the episode wasn't long enough!
The Cho-Lo is BACK!!!!

Lois admits that she loves Clark!!!

My first 10 too. I really enjoyed the interaction btw Clark/Lois. He is much more mature this season, and you particularly see it in his interactions with Lois - plus the sexy factor got dialed way up and I did not think it was possible for Clark to be sexier. I loved the oafy/nerdy Clark, but this new Clark... sigh. The acting in this epi was spot-on and I think ED has done a brilliant job with this one. The scene where she answered the question brought tears to my eyes - I was so with her in that moment and I don't think Lois has ever shown that much vulnerability. Loved it. I am relieved to say that the PS3 are taking their time with the Clois - I was worried they'd rush it and am feeling much better now (totally glad the kiss got dropped) that they will give it the time it needs to believably develop.
Loved it loved it loved it and have worn out the batteries on my remote replaying this.
The elevator scene was lovely - both TW and ED really brought it and I loved the huge question mark over Clark's head at the end. I am aching for more!

There were a few things I didn't like, but overally it was a good episode.
-I really liked the scene with lois and clark in the electric chairs, except for one thing. When Clark gets rid of the Kryptonite bracelet, how does Lois not see him use his heat vision? I mean, what the heck is she looking at if she doesn't see it? And if the jewler is wearing the bracelet in the dungeon, why isn't he wearing it in the jewelery store?
-I liked Oliver/"Mercy" scenes, but I don't get why she is acting so much like Lex. Maybe that will be shown in later episodes.
-I hate the way Lois covered up her admitting her love for Clark. I think the episode would have been ten times better if it would have gone like this:
L: we need to talk about the whole "me loving you" thing
C: do you really feel that way?
L: course not. don't flatter yourself, Smallville. (pauses) why? i mean, what would you say if it was true?
C: (stops elevator) i would probably do this (grabs Lois and kisses her)
(kissing for a few seconds)
L: (pulls away) woah woah woah. we can't be doing this. you're smallville
C: you're lois
L: this is ridiculous
C:absolutely
L: we should never speak of this ever again
(they lunge at each other and kiss again)
I'm sick of the writers, producers, ect. dragging out these relationships Clark has. In the first season, they build all this anticipation of Clark and Lana and then Clark starts dating Chloe. Stuff like that just bothers me.
It was a good episode and i understand why they didn't have Lois and Clark kiss, but I think it would've been better if they did. they still could have had a big dramatic episode when Lana comes back to Smallville. I gave the episode a 7 out of 10.

Smallville's had a few solid episodes for a while.
I gave it an eight.
I can fully understand why certain people are not fully behind this whole Clois transition. It's been kind of quick from the crying, weeping Clark that we saw at the end of last season. Plus, I always thought it was a more logical progression for Clark to realize his feelings for Lois before she got them for him. While I think that PS3 is obviously trying to shift it in the right direction, I'm not fully convinced. I'm scared that we'll go back to the AlMiles days once Kreuk returns in November.
I wasn't a fan of the whole creepy Saw-like villain. While I'm glad that they're not doing FotWs, I don't find it possible for anyone to do something like that and it just seems like a plot device to advance the ROMANTIC elements of the show. Clois and Chimmy.
I'm not convinced by the Chimmy switch-around. Quite frankly, Chloe and Jimmy's chemistry is NOTHING like Chloe and Clark's. I blame this on TW and AM; you can't help but smile when they're around each other. They just fit each other so well, y'know?
I have to say though; 8 is an extraordinarily good scores from me, and quite frankly, there are very few episodes that make me want to watch them again. I definitely watched the torture scene where Lois is forced to confront her feelings for Clark three times. Erica Durance is really fantastic and this scene made me fully realize how much of an asset she really is to this show. (I mean, I loved her before, but this was SERIOUS.) The fact that she's been so underutilized should be an absolute CRIME.
I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned it, but I really like Tess and Ollie as a couple. They're twisted. It's delicious.
For the record, I ship Clois primarily, but I ADORE Clark and Chloe.

I don't think it's appropriate here but -- if you're interested to read, read it on my blog (http://krazykikikiari.blogspot.com/).

I enjoyed this episode. That's a nice change after last week. The acting from TW and ED was good. Tom was... Clark was... Well, I always enjoy watching TW, but, for the first time in a very long time, I really liked Clark. Yay! Thank you, Smallville.
But what is it with this week's villain? Is he some younger clone of Clark's dad, or something?
Chimmy still doesn't work for me. Are they making a last-ditch effort to make Jimmy lovable? Aiming for "oooh, poor, poor boy, no mother, such a bad father"?
Oh, and could the Oliver/Tess scenes become any more boring? Don't think so. But, yeah, they do highlight that Clark and Lois have something rather sweet together.
Tess and martial arts - LOL! The scenes don't work for me. At all.

Yes it is working ! So to anwer the question, I liked "committed" it was so funny to see Lois and Clark playing the "fiancés" (you know it's a french word lol) and to hear Lois saying "yes". I am happy to see Smallville as long as there is LOVE (for me, in the last season, no love nowhere for Clark except with Lana but only few scenes and they were not romantic. I Just appreciated Bizarro speaking about a breakfast at the Eiffel Tower, I am waiting for you CK ! ). This season is delightful (sorry for my english, I hope you will understand !)

Clark is flipping burgers on his grill while a party rages around him. Strangely, rap music is being played.
Clark (singing and dancing akwardly): Bounce with it.. Drop with it.. Lean with it.. Rock with it.. hey! Welcome to the Barbeque Lois. Can I get you a burger or something?
Lois: In a little while Smallville. I was just.. uh, line...?
Clark: Lois we've been over this already. There's no lines when you're not on TV. Right now its just us speaking.
Lois: Don't get sassy with me Smallville. Rule 97- I already know we're not on TV. Smells good over there. Whatcha- uh- are you heating up those burgers with your eyes?!
Clark (panicking): Ohhh God. Lois, I can explain this. I swear. Give me a moment to think of something.
Lois: Clark, is there something you want to tell me?
Clark: Chloe over here!! Oh look, Lois. There's Chloe. Wassup bud.
Chloe (startled): Oh. Hey ya'll. I was just looking for Jimmy. We are suppose to be planning our engagement party together. I haven't seen him all day.
Clark: Maybe Oliver shot him.
Chloe: Ha ha ha ha....
Clark: Oh, I wasn't kidding. He'll probrably end up shooting him soon. We have a pool on it. No biggie. If he does, the show will just do a storyline about it.
Oliver enters the farm. He has a big bag of Doritos and mosquito repellent.
Ollie (drunk): Hey hey! Whats up my peons!
Chloe: Oliver! You didn't have to bring any food. How thoughtful of you.
Oliver: Very. Hey Lois, I also brought hotdogs.
Lois: Oh, where are they?
Oliver (grinning): Close your eyes and give me your hand, I'll show you.
Lois: I'm not falling for that one again.
Davis (making a evil face): RWAR! RWAR!
Everyone is startled, then they break out in laughter.
Chloe (laughing): Oh Davis you kill me!
Davis: Wait.
Awkward silience.
Davis: Aha! Gotcha! Ha ha ha. All of you smell unique this afternoon.
Oliver: I love this evil bastard. Give me your hand.
Davis: Who the hell are you? Have we met on the show? Thanks for inviting me to your barbeque Clark.

Oliver: I was there 2 seasons ago until Clark discovered that I stole things only from bad people, thus making me really a good guy. Whatcha got there?
Davis: I brought spare ribs. There to die for. Heh. Heh. Heh.
Oliver (turning back to him): Are you nuts? These are store brand ---Whoops, my bad Lois.
Lois (looking down at her wet blouse): Lucky for you that was just water. Ugh. Clark, you mind coming with me, upstairs, to your bedroom, to help me dry my blouse off.
Clark: Even better. Lucky for you I always keep a mini-fan with me on hot days. Here. Now, you'd want to turn it on high and hold it approximately 2 feet from your blouse for maximum covera-

Jimmy (singing): I like big butts and I cannot lie.. These other brothers can't deny..

Jimmy: OK. And you are...?
Chloe: I'm Chloe...
Jimmy: Hmmm. Still drawing a blank. Sorry.
Chloe: We're engaged...you're the perfect man for me.. ring a bell??
Jimmy: OH. Hey.. how you doing? Look, that was yesterday. I've moved on, Sweetie. I'm bouncing you like Tigger on crack. Peace out. I gots me a new woman.
Clark: Ah ha ha ha! Next time... on Smallville!
Lois: Thats NOT funny, Clark. Chloe are you alri-.

Good guy speech music starts up out of nowhere, everyone besides Clark looks around them confused.

First let me get this off my chest: CLOIS!!!!!
Ok, with that said.. CLOIS!!!! This episode was the episode of Clois & Superman fans' dreams. But even dreams aren't this good! Comedy, Drama, Action, Love...oh that sweet Clois! If you cannot feel this couple and their chemistry in your heart, well my dears you may not have a pulse. Because what we got last night was the best shipper episode in this show's history. And it was all because of two people: Chloe and Ji-- if you took that seriously, punch yourself. Really.
The people who made this episode was Clark Kent and Lois Lane. My Lois Lane. My one and only and I will shout it to the rooftops: there has never been a better Lois Lane than Erica Durance. This woman is incredible and she lights up any episode she is in. Lois, you make laugh more than anything on this show. She is the most vibrant, fun, human character on this show. And I am so happy that Clark finally, finally, has turned the corner and is falling for her.
I never imagined that we would ever get to this point in the story where we could say that Lois and Clark were falling in love with each other. But dammit its here, and folks, this show can only get better from it.
I knew this episode would be a classic the moment Jimmy cut Chloe's cake-head off. Only Jimmy would do something like that. DrunkLOIS at the bar. Looking hot-as-damn. Over comes Clark to remind her to ease up. Clark, you naive idiot, when a woman that hot is getting drunk you don't tell her to ease up. You say "Bartender, make that a double." I really liked how smooth Clark was in this scene but he so gave her a reason to make a fool out of herself. "You want support..I'll show you support". Baby, with as fine as you look you could show me roadkill and I'd still be all over you.
What proceeds afterwards is one of the best maid-of-honor toasts in television history and the complete burial of Chimmy. It was short, it was brutal, it was so damn funny. She sat them up with false hope and then BAM! Crushed them completely. I feel sorry for Jimmy, I really do. But dude.. you are making a BIG mistake. Very admirable of Clark swooping in for the save but he proceeds to give a speech which is proof of his drug use. That, or he desperately wants Chloe to get hitched asap.
Just when you think we'd get Chimmy being all love-dovey, they get shot. I love this show!
Kent farm. Lois wakes up in Clark's state championship jersey (not the normal jersey Chloe had on, Chlarkers). The hair, the body, the lack of pants. *Slaps self* Clark comes walking into the living room like he just had the sex of thousand galaxies. It was HILARIOUS how he quickly came into the room with that cheese smile and that extra pep in his step. Something happened that we weren't told about. No one is that damn happy to deliver a glass of alka seltzer. Lois wouldn't have taken an hour to undress in my kitchen. I would have been a gentlemen and got her out of that thing before I even remembered to lock the front door. Very nice way to end the scene with Lois thanking Clark for taking care of her. Excellent scene, and just the start of the Clois goodness to come.
Torture Dungeon. Ahhh.. this takes me back. Jimmy and Chloe are tied up. Guy in a pyscho mask tells them they are going to get the chair if they don't cooperate. Knowing Chloe, I hope Jimmy doesn't have any big aspirations of dying of old age.
The Daily Planet. Tess briefly mentions the X email and the crystal before Oliver shows up. I don't know about these two. I wasn't exactly feeling them in Toxic. And then he asks her out. The hell, man. She worships Lex Luthor and you're asking her out? You know she's pure evil right? *high fives*. My man.
Talon. This scene RULED. Lois asking for pants, Clark seeing all those rose peddels.. Lois in handcuffs! Oh, maybe just me for the last one. Clark turns around like he just saw his mother naked. Dude.. she likes handcuffs.. thats like striking oil. Too damn precious to let go. And then we get to one of the funniest moments of Smallville ever. I was eating a bowl of ice cream to remind me of Chimmy and when I heard Lois' voice on that answering machine I laughed so hard I got brain freeze. She sounded so SO buzzed. And their facial expressions! I LOVE IT!!
Dungeon. Hereeeee we go. Who want to taste the electricity first. Please be Chloe, please be Chloe. Jimmy does what all men do when they are asked the cheating question: Lies his ass off. That or fall down and don't get up until she's left the room/house. Chloe gets zapped out of her body. Yes! Thats for your DP stunt in Kara. JIMMY SIT YOUR ASS DOWN, BOY. Are you nuts! Who the hell asks to be electricuted? Forget that macho stuff. I wanted to reach into the TV and slap him with frozen fish. Crazy guy prepares to ask Chloe about her own secrets. Well Jimmy, its been fun.
Wait. THATS the only question you ask her? Boo! So she really loves Jimmy. Oh please. At least the guy shot them. Small victories I guess.
Clois investigating. Sigh..Can I say I love it? Can I? Because to not say I love this would be a crime against TV-anity. First the DP scene where you see their determination to find Chimmy. I again love how calm Clark is throughout it all. He oozes confidence. He's concerned about her and she about him. She doesn't let him out her sight. Lois arguing with a seventy year old? Clark looking around embarassingly before finally thanking the man then shoving Lois on her way? GOLD!! I loved it!! And then he grabs her just before she gets hit by a cab and she doesn't even notice. Perfect! The chemistry is off the charts. "And what can you do plan on doing alone that we can't do together?" "A lot". Thats pretty sad, Clark. But I LOVED how Lois didn't want him to leave her side. They are a couple already even if they don't know it.
Then it comes. suggestion..denial, persistance, denial..the proposal. Ahahaha!!! I loveeeeeee this show. And Clark's "hmmmfff" look on his face as if he knew it could only lead to trouble was the perfect way to close out the scene. I was smiling and laughing so much it was a crazy. I felt like a little boy waiting for christmas throughout the entire commercial break.
Ring shopping. Every cheap guy's worse nightmare. "Whose the luckiest girl in the world.. I am". LOL. I love Lois so much. Lois holds out her ring finger for Clark to try it on and dude zones out. Like the whole situation just hit him at once. "Performance anxiety" was just the thing to snap him out of it and when Lois said it and he shoved the ring on her finger I had to momentarily pause the show to stop laughing. When Oliver showed up.. oh my god... thats when I had trouble catching my breath. The ONLY scene that rivals this in comedy is Clark's "dance of a thousand pigeons" in Spell. I'm laughing right now even typing about this. Then the way they left, Lois grabs his hand and walks away quickly. Clark catches up with her, accidently bumping into her as she opens the door, then he shoves her out faster. CLOIS!!!!!! Thank you Smallville! I'll never forget this night!!
Luthor Mansion. He says hi, she hits him in the face with a staff. Ass, be kicked. Only.. he doesn't. He lets her kiss him. Wow. I don't know whether to say this scene was a waste, or ask for a copy of the video tape.
Even getting shot, Lois makes me laugh. Only her. Clark finally finds Chimmy and I swear the scene went something like this:
Clark: Hey!
Chimmy: Yep.
Clark: Well, I'm going to get Lois.
Chimmy: Whaaa???
It was so to the point that even that had me laughing. I love this show!
Clark finds Lois and he superblows the door down. Baddass! Then he superspeeds toward her. Lois is much more to Clark than he wants to admit. Clark got clocked dropped the hell out with a monkey wrench! Ouch.
I liked how they came back from the commercial break, with the camera being blurry until Clark wakes up. "I know who you are" Uhh Clark, if I had to write out a list of things NOT to say to a killer, that would be number 1!
Tom and ED's acting here was in-credible. I was glued to my seat. I didn't expect the test to read Lois' first answer as a false one but it makes sense. Clark getting zapped was hard to watch. I love how Lois reacted to it. But she makes the mistake of telling the guy that they weren't really engaged. That was the cause of him changing questions.
Then he asks her the question we've been waiting for since we saw the preview. Do you love him Lois? Once more. Then one last time. Every time the question was asked, Lois broke down more. It was one of the most dramatic moments on the show ever. WOW. I can't say stress how amazingly ED played this. It killed her to answer that question. And all the while Clark is just asking her to tell the truth and be done with, not expecting the answer he would hear. I read 3 reactions from him. He tensed up expecting another jolt, then he wondered what had happened to the machine, then he looked up at Lois finally realizing she was just being honest.
The look they shared when Clark looked at her.. shock.. complete shock. And Lois immediately looks down away from his gaze.
Clark goes Superman on that guy and gave him a hurt sandwich with extra mustard. I've seen this mentioned before but just so some will know.. heat vision is invisible to the naked eye. And you wouldn't know Clark had it unless you were looking directly at his target and seeing it burst in the flames.
Clark steps out of the steam to poor Lois and bends down to free her. What a beautiful shot this was. They were stealing glances at each other, one after the other. Afraid to look too long, afraid of the other catching their glimspe. Incredible. Amazing. Beautiful.
Did Oliver just sleep with Tess in Lex's old bed? Does he have no shame? Is she his Lana, now? Wow and she played him. That was cold. I have to admit that I liked seeing Oliver taken down a peg though.
Lois appologizes for the druken speech. I thought that was big of her, but I also thought that she was sorta giving a half-truth with her explanation. I truly believe that you get a person's real feelings when they are drunk or scared, but Chloe went with it so I guess everything is ok. That hug between Jimmy and Lois was the..oddest..hug..ever. Jimmy stopped when he saw her coming toward him, then he actually flinched when she made a move to hug him, and he was stiff as a board until she let him go. It was like he was being hugged by the school bully. I was dying laughing when I saw that.
Chimmy scene. Again. Because the first 4 times wasn't enough. Jimmy reveals his dad is drunk, and he didn't know his mother and Chloe acts betrayed. OH THE HORROR! Give me a break, that was practically nothing. Lets see:
-Cedric, those 3 kids that I told you were my sister's, really are mine.
-Cedric, I just got parolled, I hope that doesn't scare you.
-Cedric, we can't go back to your place because I'm on house arrest.
-Cedric, its not really a cult, don't be judgemental.
-Cedric, I have a crazy ex who hurt my last boyfriend.
And that was just in the last 3 years.
So Chloe, PLEASE.. Not to mention that you have your own wacked up secrets. At least the dates I've been on actually were human.
Final Clois scene. Wohoo!!! Yes! She's avoiding him, and Clark you sly devil.. you probrably was watching her run to the elevator. I loved the way he held the elevator for her and she suggested using the stairs. "Statisically this is the safer way to travel"
I love this show.
And finally Clark gives her an out and she takes it and runs with it. Even going so far as to pretend the shackles were taken off. No way he falls for- yup, he fell for it. Lois turns it around on it him and the episode ends on his bewildered face.
This was an episode for the ages. I had the time of my life watching it. I laughed so much my voice got hoarse and I smiled so much that my face was hurting. I couldn't stop thinking about it, and thats all I needed to know.
The Tess/Oliver fling will need to grow on me because I'm not feeling it as of now. The Chimmy wasn't as cringe-worthy but I would like to see the relationship take a back seat until the wedding. I don't need it thrown in my face so much about how in luv they are when I know that they are just settling for each other, and she is not to be trusted with his heart. Jimmy desperatly needs to interact with other people besides Chloe. I'd like to see him back at the DP where he belongs and out of the Talon apartment.
The Clois was the best we've ever seen. The best in quantity and the best in quality. This episode is what I've earned as a fan of this show for 8 seasons now. Stomaching all the Clana nonsense, all the Chlark teasing.. to get to this moment. Where Clark is facing the woman he is destined to be with. His perfect opposite, the other half of his equation, the embodiment of everything Clark fights for in humanity. Lois is everything Clark needs and only with her is there no wanting.
Apocalyspe was Lois' moment, specifically the final DP scene. The moment where she opened her eyes and started falling for Clark. She never treated him the same since that moment. She's been sweet on him since it.
Committed is Clark's moment, specifically the elevator scene. And now he'll start falling for her. I fully expect him to treat her differently from this moment on. There is no going back for either of them. The friendship line has been crossed. Now we await Clark's admission of love.
Thank you, Smallville.
Statistically speaking, this episode was the best of this season. 10 out of 10.
Next week, Davis gets seduced by the Dark Side of the Force.

8 from me.I watched the episode twice but I still don't understand how the hell Lois didn't see the fire from Clark's eyes? It just happened in front of her.
But the episode has really amazing moments. As a clois fan i'm satisfied :D :D
I think it's because of the mist -- and I'm sure after Lois "confessed" her feelings, she won't want to look at him in his eyes.
ETA: Cedric -- Your review was hilarious!! LOVED it.

She doesn't let him out her sight. Lois arguing with a 7 year old? Clark looking around embarassingly before finally thanking the kid then shoving Lois on her way?
Nice review, but Fallen One, a store owner would not be seven years old. Maybe you need to lay of the Hunka Chunka Cherry Chocolate Chip.
"Lois, he was seventy years old! He spent the night in the hospital, he was still wearing the bracelet."
I truly believe that you get a person's real feelings when they are drunk . . .
The 'or scared' that came after that is probably true, but not so much when you are drunk. I've gone home with people I never would give the time of day when I've been wasted and there is nothing worse than waking up next to a but-her-face. I think it lowers your inhibitions and many cases turns you into an idiot with no taste. Doesn't mean I don't love going out and knocking back some serious vodka, but I don't think everything you are feeling when you are toasted is accurate to what you are really feeling. Though there are times where you can admit things that you never would have because of the lack of inhibition. Where the common sense that would make you hold your tongue went out the window when your eighth glass went down your gullet.

Fallen One, you should know, I've read every one of your latest posts since Thursday night, especially the ones for Commited. Yup, that's right. You now have your personal forum stalker :P
Great post
And btw, thank you for this:
heat vision is invisible to the naked eye
If I remember correctly that is also proved right by Lois & Clark, the TV show. I think I remember seeing Clark (NOT Superman) using his heat vision in front of Lois(maybe I remember wrong, I don't know, I haven't seen the show for quite a while). But still, I remembered that heat vision is invisible to others, so I didn't understand how people saw a problem there
Jaderoyale

^^ Exactly.
It seems alot of people have forgotten "Heat" when the heat vision was first introduced. When Clark set fire to the Talon with Lana there, she turned round and saw the fire, she would have seen the beams coming from Clarks eyes.
Also, when Jonathon was teaching him to control the fire, as Clark said 'Lana', we saw the fire create and come from his eyes, but when we moved to Jonathons point of view, all we saw was the steam from the fire hit the scarecrow, and then the scarecrow burst into flames.
In fact. There are alot of instances i could bring up explaining how the heat vision is portrayed as invisible to the naked eye.
LovelyLoisLane

I think the beams are just there for the audience, like the blur that appears around his head when he is using the superhearing. It is there so we know what's going on in a visual sense.
Like if we didn't have the eyebeams it would appear that Clark could burn things or light them on fire because he had pyrokinesis (the ability to start fires with the mind) instead of heat vision. It gives a nice visual too and is much improved from its earlier seasons.
But no, the other people around him can't see it.

Kent Farm
Clark is flipping burgers on his grill while a party rages around him. Strangely, rap music is being played.
Clark (singing and dancing akwardly): Bounce with it.. Drop with it.. Lean with it.. Rock with it.. hey! Welcome the Barbeque Lois.

Lois arguing with a 7 year old? Clark looking around embarassingly before finally thanking the kid then shoving Lois on her way?
THANK YOU!!!!!! Pure gold and worth the wait!
You know, I pity and envy "the poor girl who actually makes the mistake of falling for you." ;):D

I just watched Committed, and I loved the look on Clark's face when Lois told Clark, "Did you really think I was in love with you? I took the sensor ring off my finger, when I answered the question. I pretended to like you. Clark, you're not a good liar, so it's a good thing I answered the question, instead of you." Clark looked really disappointed and hurt when Lois told Clark she wasn't in love with him. Tom did a great job (looking disappointed). He really looked like he was hurt, which proves what a great actor he really is. Great job, Tom Welling! Keep up the good work!
Does anyone else agree with me in thinking Tom Welling did a great job with that disappointed look on his face (in the elevator with Lois Lane)? He really did an excellent job with that look on his face!
Clark looked disappointed when Lois said she lied about loving him. (I actually believed Lois, especially when she said tearfully, "Yes, I do love him.") Erica did a great job when she cried about loving Clark. She looked so believable. In my opinion, I think that Lois lied to Clark about loving him. I think she was too embarrassed or too ashamed to admit that she loved him (and didin't want to tell Clark the truth).
I know that people say that only the audience can see the beams of light come from his eyes, but others can't see it. What about Alicia Baker. She mentioned to Clark she saw the "heat vision," coming from his eyes. She noticed it, and even Clark told his parents that "Alicia know about my super-strength, and she knows about the "Heat Vison."
Alicia: "Come on, Clark. I know you managed to fry that security camera. I just can't figure out exactly how."
Clark: "With my eyes. They give off heat."
Jonathan: "So Alicia saw you use your powers."
Clark: "Yes."
Jonathan: "How much does she know about you, Clark?"
Clark: "She knows about the strength and the heat vision."

first off this episode had little to do with superman .
The story line was weak. The chars didn't make much sense. Ollie just leaves and goes sleeps with tess for what reason? Clark would have told ollie outside or something that it was a ruse between him and lois and that chloe was kidnapped at some point even if it was to pull him outside to see if he would be his "best man".
This just seemed to be an episode where they anted to jam Chimmy and Lois love for clark down our throats while again stomping on the chlark. I thought we did this already.
It was a poor episode to say the least. I gave it a 3 becuz their was some humor the best being clark's flinch when lois said yes to the i love you question and the shock that never came.
Fan fiction have blown these writers away. That says it all. Bad writing so far this season. Worst season so far IMO. A 3 was being nice.

Exactly.

I didn't say before what I voted, but I think it's kinda obvious. 10/10
Or should I say 10+. Finally an episode totally worth of being called EXCELENT

Oh Cedric.
I have been looking forward to that review since Thursday night.
And as usual, you have surpassed yourself.
I applaud you.
Thanks Jade, and I appreciate the feedback from everyone. Its easy to write at length about a show that you are a fan of. Smallville writes itself for me.
Bravo Cedric...I like the way you think...Fun review with truth thrown in for good measure.
You're always one of the first to comment, Snowbird. Thank you for that!
Cedric you made my day! :D
Wow your day must suck.:p Kaitlyn I owe you a thank you because you were the inspiration to this episode's intro. You mentioned Pringles last night and that made me look over to this pack of barbeque prinkles nearbye. Then I thought "Barbeque, good idea."
Yes, my mind works weird like that.
kiariclois, Liz, zHen zHen Thank you all! This episode was too good for words.:D
Nice review, but Fallen One, a store owner would not be seven years old. Maybe you need to lay of the Hunka Chunka Cherry Chocolate Chip.
"Lois, he was seventy years old! He spent the night in the hospital, he was still wearing the bracelet."
Thanks for the correction. I thought I heard seven and I didn't have the captioning enabled. I went back and added the ty.
Fallen One, you should know, I've read every one of your latest posts since Thursday night, especially the ones for Commited. Yup, that's right. You now have your personal forum stalker :P
Stalkers don't scare me. Clowns and bearded ladies scare me. If you want inside my mind then I say buckle your seatbelt and enjoy the show!
THANK YOU!!!!!! Pure gold and worth the wait!

Thank you Ann. Took me 2 hours to write this one, my longest to date. Or maybe it was because of all the rewinding I was doing of my favorite scene.
Alicia noticed it because she was looking right at Clark when he did it. Same with Lana. They saw him staring at a specific thing, then that thing burst into flames in front of him. They put two and two together and concluded that he did it.

Very enjoyable episode. A 9 for me. I can see why all the Clois fans gave it a 10!!
Couple of head-scratching moments detracted just a little for me. I thought the jeweler taking his mask off when Clark said he knew who he was didn't make a lot of sense (how did he know Clark wasn't bluffing). And the other was the long distance effect of the green-K bracelet on Clark. The guy was 30 feet away charging up the electricity machine and Clark was still powerless. [shrugs].
And what was Clark's line after he and Lois came away from the Nib and Quill stationery shop. It sounded like Lois was giving lip to a 7 year old with a medical bracelet on because he was just out of hospital???

9/10, great episode. Best Clois episode in the series thus far I'd say. Even the Chimmy was ok (I usually can't stand it)...I think a big reason for that is the show having Chloe reveal she really does love him, and no one else. (She really is completely over Clark I guess? Too bad, Chlarkers. lol)
Thoughts I had during the episode, in order:
- how many times is Chloe going to get kidnapped/held prisoner...I used to think Lana held that title, but it seems pretty clear Chloe has long since surpassed her. lol
- does Tess have to threaten EVERYBODY she meets? She threatens her employees/associates for basically no reason almost every episode. Is that the only way she feels she can get anybody to listen to her or respect her? It's getting a little old.
- what are the odds of Oliver showing up at the exact same store at the exact time Clark and Lois were there? Apparently good, since it happened. lol
- Clark super-ditched Lois YET AGAIN....since disappearing so quickly is clearly impossible for a normal human to do, shouldn't Lois be at least a LITTLE suspicious by now?
- another Saw-ish plot with a masked psycho trying to teach some sort of lesson in a deadly game (which we've basically seen before in S5's Mercy with Lionel)....I enjoyed it, but still, Smallville's makers can't seem to help but repeat themselves over and over and over again, can they.
- why did Clark feel the need to huff and puff and blow that door down? Lol he has super strength, he could have busted through normally. What is he, a drama queen?
- oh of course, green kryptonite just happens to be around. Naturally. heh
- when Lois said she never cheated on her "fiance", why did that register as a lie? Since Clark isn't really her fiance, when she says "No", that isn't a lie, because well, Clark isn't really her fiance.
- that bit when Lois was asked if deep down she loved Clark reminded me big time of a similar bit in The Matrix, when Trinity was asked if she thought Neo was really "the One", as she looked into his eyes just before both were about to die. Trinity similarly answered Yes (since she fell in love with him, that meant he was the One, as per the Oracle). So then, Matrix tribute? Or Matrix ripoff? You decide. lol
- didn't Lois notice Clark zapping those pipes? The rays weren't "invisible"/colorless like they were in some other eps, they were quite clearly RED! Lol, they looked like Cyclops-style optic laser blasts. The vision-clouding smoke came afterward, so Lois really should have been watching everything Clark was doing before that, including head-butting the jeweler, and going to the trouble of throwing that bracelet into the sewer hole for some inexplicable reason?? Lol, couple of plot holes rolled into one right there.
- I don't know why but I find Chloe happily referring to Jimmy as "her guy" annoying. Lol she called him that before and it annoyed me then too. heh
- Tess: "There was nothing romantic about last night, Oliver. I had an itch. You scratched it."
- Clark: "Statistically this is the safer way to travel." lol great nod to the movies. What made it especially great was that it was a variation on the original, rather than basically an exact repeat as Superman Returns elected to do. My favorite line in the episode (well this, and Tess' itch getting scratched). heh
About Lois already apparently being in love with Clark:
- Isn't it a little early for that? I mean "Superman" hasn't even entered the picture yet. And it makes Lois not being able to recognize Superman as Clark down the line that much more far fetched. I mean she's been up close and personal with Clark-minus-glasses many, many times now. Of course, I suppose they don't need to care about things like this since Superman will never be a part of the show.
Once again, loved the episode, best of the season so far no question. This and Plastique are the season standouts. The rest are forgettable.
No fiancé, no cheating on the fiancé possible - it's as simple at that, but the detector reacted and I found it unlogical, but well....Lol I agree with all this. The lie-detector stuff wasn't the most logical, and Lois should have questioned a lot more than she did (which was nothing...lol she just accepted everything). Clark super-disappeared on her earlier (for like the umpteenth time) but that never comes up, and then later the pipes somehow blow up after Clark happened to be "staring" at them. And just before that, Clark went to the trouble of throwing a meaningless bracelet into the gutter--but Lois doesn't care about any of that of course…I mean, it's not like she's a reporter or anything, right. lol And about the kryptonite, yeah the kidnapper wasn't always that close was he. Smallville hasn't been the most consistent with green-k and its effects on him over the years have they....whatever's good for the particular story is what they do.
It sounded like Lois was giving lip to a 7 year old with a medical bracelet on because he was just out of hospital???I never thought about that but yes, there was no reason for him to remove his mask just because of that one comment. If Clark added "You're that jeweler" or something, it would have made more sense. But then again, the jeweler was right next to the lie detector machine, maybe he noticed it wasn't going off when Clark made the comment, meaning Clark wasn't bluffing. heh But I definitely agree about the distance-from-the-greenK thing, not entirely consistent. As for that line, it was poorly spoken by TW, it sounded like 7 years old to me too when I first heard it. Listening to it again, TW pronounced the line like this: "He was 'sevend' years old". Like a cross between what seven and seventy sound like. Sloppy. lol

i thought this episode, was great, i really did enjoy it alot,i really did like the scene, in the jewelry store where clark and lois are about to leave and oliver walks in, my favorite scene in the episode, is when clark used his heat vision to burst the pipe, so he could stop the bad guy, without lois seeing him, i can't wait to see next week's episode, it is going to be great.

Absolutely a 10 for me. Probably because I like the character Ollie so much, the only thing I didn't like in this episode is how he's sucking up to Tess and trying to rekindle whatever he thought was good between them. Tess' cold-hearted rejection of Ollie served to make me dislike her more. In that situation, she reminded me so much of Lex, which is probably what the writers intended. As a whole, IMHO, it was a Great episode.

Thanks, Cedric. I was going to pout cuz I wasn't bolded, then magically you fixed it right in front of my eyes. :o:)

Despite Ollie's mosquitos and because of Maxima, the Avon lady. Also, not only will Davis be seduced by the dark side, Clark will CrashDown on his arse.
I like typing these reviews from the hip, and I do it from scratch in the quick reply box. So often when I click reply I find that I've made a mistake but I try to correct them quickly before someone catches it. So yeah.. you caught me. But I got you bolded, Missy.
And you just want to be at the Barbeque because of the free food, admit it . I wouldn't touch Davis' spare ribs if I were you though.
I tried to include a little of everything in there for everyone. From how terrible of a liar Clark is, Lois always thinking she knows everything, how Clark is so oblivious to her come-ons, Jimmy's newfound ladies man status, Oliver's fear of mosqutos, to even how some folks feel Clark is insensitive when it comes to Chloe.
And ginnyfan, thanks. I know I give Chimmy a hard time in my reviews regarding their heat-less realtionship but its mostly about how I feel it minimizes Jimmy.
I have no problem with geek love. I love Jimmy and I've always been a HUGE fan of his since I was was a child. But I don't like Chloe.. so I guess I was destined to not like Chimmy from the start. I'm trying to get with them. To see what the writers are trying to sell to me. But what Clark said in his toast to them.. how could I believe that? I know they don't end up together, and so do the writers. In the same vain that I felt the Clana merry-go-around should have ended long ago, I feel the same about these two. I feel cheated of all the good stories we could be getting with Jimmy, Clark, and Lois at the Daily Planet. Thats where the heart of Jimmy's story belongs to me.
If they scaled it back and not have this relationship occupy 80% of Jimmy's screentime I wouldn't care so much. I still wouldn't be behind it, but I wouldn't mention it as much. Its been more prevelent at the start of this season and I've taken some cracks at it in my reviews. I try to make it a small part of my reviews though because I want to focus on the things I loved/liked, not disliked.

I agree about Tom doing a great job with his disappointed look, I also loved the look he gave when Lois said she loved him and he was expecting to get shocked and then he didn't, he looks around and then looks at her like "whoa you love me :)" aww poor Clarkie, not she thinks she doesn't...hehehe also the looks he gave at the end when she said it was a good thing he didn't have to answer the questions, his facial expressions were amazing, and then the look of Do I love her? priceless! :)

I was stunned at how great this episode was! I thought it was great!!! I know that the depressed jeweler was a weird idea but it turned out great! I had to give this a 10 cuz i was on the edge of my seat! It made me laugh, gasp, scream and jump up and down. To me that is an episode that definitely deserves a 10! Great ep!!

Thanks Tatiana, for taking the time to read my comments and commenting on them. I, too, loved the look she gave him when Lois said she loved Clark (she even broke down and cried), when she said she loved him. I still think she lied to him on the elevator about loving Clark (she was too ashamed to admit she loves Clark). Poor Clarkie! He looked really hurt when she denied that she loved him.
Oh, by the way, I love your Avatar, Tatiana.

One thing that bothered me with all the talk about families and parents at the wedding was, where is Gabe? Why did Chloe ask Clark to walk her down the aisle without at least explaining why she is ignoring her father?

I didn't like the premises of the episode, and they need to stop being so obvious with the Clois. Also, the Tess and Ollie scenes were too long and unnecessary.
But, Clark was very good here. It's like a 180, he looks and acts so much more mature. I also liked Lois.

I looked at the elevator scene a few more times today, and I thought Clark's reaction was mixed. Yeah, he seemed a little disappointed when she disavowed her answer (as in "Boy, do I feel a little stupid for thinking that you meant it, but I'm not going to admit it"). But he wasn't disappointed as in "I'm sad because I feel something for you, too." After that exchange and the camera pulls back, he actually seems relieved and smiles.
Then, as the elevator closes, a thought apparently occurs to him, but it's not clear at all what Clark is thinking. Maybe he's just not sure, and that in and of itself is a revelation to him.

Wow! I appreciate your reply. I hear where you're coming from. Hopefully now that they've gotten a lot of the romance out of the way on all sides... the bulk of the story and be directed elsewhere... including Jimmy getting to investigate and snap some pics. He sort of made up with Lois I guess in "Committed." So now he can stop walking on eggshells and avoiding her at work. :D

Seriously? If so, yes we loved Commited. And personally I think you're the best director on the show. Your work in Traveler was outstanding as well. And I'm sure you'll knock episode 15 out of the park. Bryan Miller is my new favorite writer, and everyone in the cast did a great job.
Any episode with lots of Clark and Lois is bound to be a classic. Tom and Erica are amazing. This episode was the best I've watched of those two together.
And please let everyone know that we would like more Lois this season, if possible. Erica is fantastic!

That was the best episode of Smallville I've seen in the series. You've earned your paycheck. In fact, maybe you should put in for a bonus..... and maybe the writers could get something as well, because that was the most entertaining and endearing script by far. Okay, the actors as well. Hate it!
In the episode Committed, if you look at ths scene Lois was looking right at Clark. Right at him. Then he used his heat vision and used his Super-strength right in front of him.
What was Lois thinking about? Her confession.
So all this talk of chasing after the mystery man, chasing a man in tights is just to me dumb when Lois saw. Go ahead and screen cap it. Lois was watching Clark the whole time.
I am going to shout because well:
SHE SAW HIM SHOOT BEAMS FROM HIS EYES!!
SHE SAW HIM GET OUT THE CHAIR!!!
Not to mention: MAKING SURE TO GET THE BRACELET OFF THE ABDUCTOR!!!
I can't believe it. And the show just lets it slide.
So instead of Lois Lane, intrepid reporter, we get a moony eyed, crushing hard, young woman that is claimed to be a 'reporting goddess' and seeing the most spectacular heroics in front of her and it is ignored.
Then in the elevator Lois was the one that was totally nervous.
Clark should have been sweating!!! He used his powers in front of Lois. Instead he was smug and arrogant. (It helps of have the writers on your side to forget major details like Lois watching him use his powers.)
Then Clark believing her that she slipped off the sensor?
He was watching her too. A man, a villain that could read the detector would know if she slipped off the sensor. Would have shocked the crap out of her for that. Especially on such an important question.
One that Lois tease him about. Only to have Clark look confused. Why? That made no sense for someone that, as Cloiser's insist is destined to be with. If he actually has a bond with Lois and actually loves her why would he confused as to his situation if he was the one to confess?
Where would he be?
From Lois's barely veiled lusting, it was clear from her point of view, that they would be in her bed. A little tacky, but well that is Lois. That is where Clark would be if from Lois's words and suggestion.
Back to the point. Lois saw him use his powers. The situation was ignored and Lois's reputation as a hard hitting journalist actually takes a hit.

This was an episode for the ages. I had the time of my life watching it. I laughed so much my voice got hoarse and I smiled so much that my face was hurting. I couldn't stop thinking about it, and thats all I needed to know.

Hi I am new here, but been a Smallville fan since the beginning and have every episode and season on DVD.
I like 'Committed' very much. I been waiting since Season 4 to see how Clark and Lois will eventually get together and even though it has not officially happened yet...we are seeing slight clues that we are and the majority of us cant wait!
Best parts about Committed in no particular order:
- Lois saying 'Yes' after the psychotic Jeweler asked her is she loved Clark...been waiting for that for ages!
- Lois drunk in Clark's home made me laugh...even when she was wearing the Kent Jersey ;)
- The drunk message Lois left on Chloe's answering machine...sweet
- Clark and Lois 'Muffin' and 'Cupcake' lines!
And lastly the episode itself was very well done. When I heard that Lex and Lana were leaving before season 8, I must admit I had reservations, but so far I believe this is the best season to date and hoping for Season 9!
Sorry for long post! Hi everyone!

I gave it a 9. This season has surpassed my expectations already, and this episode wowed me through and through. I agree with reobeem that the whole Tess/Oliver blip was weird and out of place (well, only because they're giving us such little information to go on between the two of them, everything has to be revealed in angsty conversation).
I thought that this was an excellent beginning to Clark's life without Lana, coming off of Maxima, haha, and seeing that the women in his life aren't just cardboard cutouts. I'm anxious to see how the dynamic between Lois and Clark progresses and if he can finally let go of You-Know-Who.
Erica Durance shined in this episode. For such a small resume, this woman has some serious talent. Someone said in another thread that she can "act circles around" Tom Welling sometimes. I think I'd have to agree.

Glen, the director of Committed (if this is REALLY you), I won't deny that many of the fans did like Committed. However, there was A LOT of fans who didn't. But then again, those fans are the ones who have been mostly ignored during the course of SV.
Personally, I HATE the course SV has and is taking. Simply put, it's a reboot. Yes, I know it's 'supposed' to line up with the mythos. And to that, I'm okay to a certain degree. However, the COMPLETE desecration of the Fever letter, the deconstruction of Chlark, the cramming Chimmy down my throat, along with cramming Clois down my throat is not enjoyable AT ALL for this long time fan.
I did not tune in to watch yet ANOTHER Clark and Lois TV show. As I said before, I'm okay with hints of the future, but this -- this is simply TOO much. Also, I have NOT stayed tuned in to watch my favorite character (whom I hardly recognize anymore) get married to Jimmy-the-douchbag-Olsen. She deserves SO much better than that and so do her fans.
PLEASE, take ALL fans into consideration. Clark, Lois, and Clois fans are NOT the only fans SV has. There are plenty of others out there who have been silenced due to the course of S8 and the reaction they get from some others for voicing their opinions. PLEASE don't make some of the same mistakes Al/Miles made by ignoring the over-all fan base. PLEASE listen and pay attention to the fan base as a whole.

So Achloechick when you watch a show based on a young clark kent's journey to becoming Superman. Now that this show is nearing its end (endgame is Superman), you , in all honestly do/did not expect to see lois and clark starting to fall for one another? At the very end of this show, you did not expect to see this?
you expected to see him going off with Chloe by the very end of it?
season 8/9 are the ending of this story and the ending is Superman, Clark and Lois.

Thank you, DontCha, I probably wouldn't have said it so nicely.
Unfortunately, the writers and directors aren't going to MAKE you like this show's endgame, Achloechick. So if you're not going to take this episode as a staple for the way things are changing and going to be, then you are going to be sorely disappointed in the future. I realize how big the Chlark fan base is, but seriously, whatever happened to liking a show for its ability to surprise you? I think a Chlark relationship at this point would be a terrible surprise.
AChloeChick
10-20-2008, 12:52 PM
DontCha, I'm simply sharing my own personal opinion, as well as asking for TPTB to listen to their over all fan base.
I know the future, but to have it crammed down my throat at an accelerated rate, all the while completely destroying some of the things I have LOVED about SV, is NOT enjoyable at all. It could have and should have been handled better.
I KNOW I'm not alone in this. However, most feel they have been silenced by PS3 and other posters on this board.
That's all I'm going to say about it. I'm not going to get into things with you or anyone else about this. I do not and will not get into a debate.
smlvlchk, that's just it, I'm not asking for a Chlark relationship at this point. I didn't even imply that. However, I am saying it SHOULD have and COULD have been handled A LOT better. IF it was your 'ship/relationship', you'd feel the same way.
Plus, I HATE Chimmy. The least thing they could have done was give my favorite someone who I want to root for. Someone who deserves her. Jimmy-the-douchbag-Olsen is NOT that person.
Not only that, IF they handled things differently, I MIGHT have been okay with it. As it is, they haven't and so NO, I most likely won't be liking SV any more. It's to the point that I feel forced to root for the villain, to look forward to him kicking Clark's butt. AND, I do enjoy the Chlavis. I'm so looking forward to more Chlavis interactions.
So, for all of you who want to jump, my case for expressing myself, go right ahead. This is the last response to any of them. I have been and will continue to be respectful to others, it would be nice IF the respect goes both ways.

Glen,
I am honored that you have been lurking here since 2006 and have taken the time to read our posts and respond to them.
I really appreciate the overall change of direction the show has taken in its eighth year. As a Superman prequel in its eighth season, with the Lois Lane character as part of the cast for four of the last eight years, it is definitely time for Clark and Lois to be working together at the Daily Planet.
This was my favorite episode so far of the new season, so I would have to give all the credit to you and the writer for bringing out the best in the wonderful cast. Please continue the great work and thank you for being part of making Smallville my favorite show year after year.

I'll give it a 7/10.
It was a good episode thanks to Clark's characterization. Also there were funny moments like Lois message in the answering machine.
But the Chimmy pimpage was too much of a downer for me to really appreciate the episode. Sorry.
Dismayed beyond belief. They had to strap the characters to a lie detector because they couldn't write believable dialog to explain the lightswitch.
And now Lois -- whose only redeeming quality was to risk her life for her cousin --- it's incredibly selfish with her "old maid" pity party and trashes the groom on Chloe's special night.
And now she's also pining for Clark. This is not a strong woman, she's a disaster in too-tight clothes.
I think 166 votes of 10 really does speak for itself
It speaks to the site's demographics. Look at ALL the polls, the vast majority of fans posting are Lois and Clois in every single poll. Of course this episode plays well to that crowd.

Seriously???
OK... well... you ROCK!!!! I even mentioned in another thread who stellar the direction and writing was in this episode. You had the actors move around... the scenes didn't all take place in the loft!! The elevator scene was VERY well done... and the parts with Clark and Lois walking from store to store? PERFECTION! You got the comic timing down perfectly with both Welling and Durance... you would have thought that Welling had been born to play this side of Clark Kent.
Anyway... on behalf of all of us fans, we'd like to thank YOU for giving us a great show to tune into every Thursday night. I've been a fan since the Pilot... and you guys have made it worth it this season. (There were seasons in there where it was more a habit than anything else.) This season, I feel just as excited for "SV" like I used to back in S1... I get the same goofy smile and, on Thursdays, I keep looking at the clock, asking, "Is it 8:00, yet?"
LOL... in short, you ROCK, and can you direct EVERY episode???

A clear and nice 10 for me ;)
SMALLVILLE IS BACK ONCE AGAIN!!! :)
It speaks to the site's demographics. Look at ALL the polls, the vast majority of fans posting are Lois and Clois in every single poll. Of course this episode plays well to that crowd.
I think this site's demographics represents the changing demographics of "SV" viewers. It's no secret that folks who watched only for Lex are no longer watching. Same with Lana (until KK comes back for her 5 episodes).
Who is left?
- The folks who are watching for Clark.
- The folks who are watching for Lois.
- The folks who watch for Chloe.
- The folks who watch for a particular ship.
- The folks who just want a good TV show about a boy who would be Superman.
K-site has fans from ALL these demographics. TWoP only has Chloe/Chlark fans. (God help you if you hate Chloe and try to post there. You'll get eaten alive. Actually, you'll be tortured and then eaten alive if you post something positive about Lois.) Divine Intervention only caters to Lois/Clois fans (and doesn't try to hide it). Sweet only caters to Lana/Clana fans (and, again, doesn't try to hide it).
So, why on earth do you think that K-Site is the most skewed demographic? It makes no sense. Nothing is stopping people from posting here even if they HATE "SV". It's an actual rule of the forum.
This is actually the BEST place for PS3 to find out exactly what the general audience of "SV" is thinking, because this is the only Smallville site on the web that is not shipper based.
most skewed demographic?
don't think it is the "most" skewed, just skewed.
And as for "fair" posting here... visit the wanting Chlark thread where 28 people post their desires and fears on the topic and 57 Cloiser's swarm the thread to tell them they are wrong and should just get over it. It's Chlark hostile, very similar to your attempts to be positive about Lois on TWOP (which at least warns posters that it's a take-no-prisoners environment).
As for ratings... I agree with JAMEXXX (ish).... on-line fandoms have very few Neilsen boxes.
This is actually the BEST place for PS3 to find out exactly what the general audience of "SV" is thinking, because this is the only Smallville site on the web that is not shipper based.
I completely disagree --- read all the polls --- very pro-Lois/Clois.

Well, I'm not Lois or Clois, and I loved this Episode! It's Clark! He is so assertive, smart, and happy. He's using his Powers! He got himself and Lois out of this GreenK danger, instead of someone having to rescue him. Clark's strong, but still cute and innocent and has dialogue! TW has good chemistry with all the Actors and I am just loving the special FX. The episodes are so much more than just about Ships.

I didn't like the episode, too shippy for me, but there's lots of good things about S8 so far. The best being a mature Clark. I hope that red jacket has been burnt.
